Thanks so much! So well explained on the detail of the dynamics of the serve. I will practice this with patience and work towards a more consistent serve. Chris.
You are truly AMAZING. Your videos are so on point and realistic. I can actually execute these moves and this is what I need. I’ve only been playing for 3 weeks and I’m trying not to listen to everybody sharing with me what I need to do. So, I’m trying to come to the courts with some prior knowledge, so I won’t be totally in the dark.😇 Thank you!😀
Hey Jordan, The reference to Golf great, I use that all the time, just added, L keep your head down, just like Putting, watch the paddle hit the ball. Always the best. Bill
Great Video Jordan. I’ve been watching you since I started playing in May 2022. Thanks to you I’ve gone from 2.5 to 3.5 in a few months. I’m working hard to achieve 4.0. I definitely have you to thank for it. I try to copy and imitate you every day. Great videos. I live in Pennsylvania but I Hope to meet you someday. Do you offer training camps around the country? Best to you and family.
Just a great video. You have covered most of the errors that I make - arm and grip too tight, hitting the ball behind, or too close to the body. Tips like Making sure you hit in front of you in line with your left foot (Im a righty) and with a more relaxed grip should take care most of this. I have some good serves and I tend to follow through, but I'm not consistent and I think in part because my ball drops have not been consistent. Also I cant wait to try using the paddle lag.
Great Site Jordan. Please comment on a serve small loop back swing as is demonstrated in your video "The one serve you need..." vs a pendulum back swing as is shown in this video. Thanks
Backswing isn’t as important as the actual swing and follow through. If your swing and follow through is good, then your backswing could look a little different.
Always appreciate your instruction. Question - I am a right-hander. I have a tendency to finish with the paddle face up and the ball flares to the right. I wonder if this is caused in part because of an outside to in swingpath - - holding the ball out front like you do, but my paddle is a bit farther away from my body. Should there essentially be a straight line from the ball to the paddle face? (i.e. no angle?). Thanks for all your videos/instruction.
Can you address the importance of feet positioning during the serve? I see lots of beginners facing forward versus sideways (more like a golf swing). Great video!!
Another great video Jordan. I'm guilty of several of these including not following all the way through. Will try these tips tomorrow at a Halloween Pickleball party just north of Seattle :)
Thanks Jordan for the breakdown of the topspin serve. Are your clinics always in AZ from now on? Will you ever be able to bring your clinics to O.C. (California)?
Great tips, suddenly PB is reminding me more & more of tennis. Jordan, I’m lefty at lo intermediate level, & at risk of being predictable, what about 75% of TS serves aimed at BH, most players can’t handle that.
Your videos are becoming more and more professional. Methinks you have a better camera? Anyway, I really appreciate your concise, easy to follow instructions
I have students devouring this video. I, and one of my students, noticed that you said nothing about keeping one’s head down through contact. “Why doesn’t Jordan keep his head down longer”. My answer: “He’s a 5.0 and could serve blindfolded holding the paddle face in his hand and striking the ball with the handle. The rest of us, see the paddle hit the ball”. Pause and hold …. great tip!
Nice video! Just an observation - you spin your paddle every few seconds. Is this due to just habit or discomfort or to keep feeling the paddle's grip or something else? You have taught me a lot through your videos. I have not seen them all but enough to bring me from beginner to intermediate for sure. Much appreciated!
i enjoy your videos and watch as many as I can. did you add background music to this particular video on purpose?? it seems out of place (just my 2 cents).
Hi Jordan, Is Selkirk sponsoring you? Jordan when I serve I hit the ball from underneath so my arm is going straight up on the follow thru, your holding your paddle sideways when hitting the ball. So with my method when following thru, do I still finish above the opposite shoulder?
Question...where I Play (rec) - some are coming with 2023 rule where spin will no longer going to be permitted - Your thoughts serving a flat (no spin) serve?
In the 2023 rule-set, you will not be allowed to impart spin on the ball *during the toss* before contact. You’re still allowed to put topspin/underspin on your serve 😂😂😂
@@plannedtuna8293 - Thanks for your responce and this posting. my serve has had the yeps for about a month. You have showed me the reason for my inconsistency .
I think the spin serve that your rec buddies are referring to is when players put spin on the ball itself before it contacts the paddle or when they use the paddle to create ball spin before serving.
@@BrionesPickleball Looking forward to a video(s) that you make on imparting spin to serves and regular groundstrokes. I especially like it, when you do part of that video in slow motion. Thanks for all your great videos.
Which aspect are they calling illegal? Spin? I've seen ppl serve where the handle is parallel to the ground. That's illegal as the paddle is now above the wrist
Thanks so much! So well explained on the detail of the dynamics of the serve. I will practice this with patience and work towards a more consistent serve.

You've hit the big time! Selkirk shirt, Jigsaw and the Orchards!
Lol 😊
Happy to see you get the recognition and sponsorships you deserve!
Thanks Jim!
You are the number one coach in the game Jordan, such good incite....
😊😊thanks James!
Jordan always breaks it down nicely with plenty of examples and non-examples.
I especially appreciate the quiet filming venue. It makes it so much easier to hesr.
Cool thanks !
Wow, filming at The Orchard! Nice!
👍🏻😊
Another great video, appreciate you ! Keep them coming ! My game has improved by watching you , thank you !
Thanks Steve!!
Selkirk! They are lucky to have you bro!🎉
🤙🏼😊
Another good video. Followed you a few years and I noticed the new sponsor. Selkirk.
Thanks!

I would have to see it, but my guess is you are slicing the ball. You definitely want to finish like I am showing here if you want to hit topspin
Jordan, any comments (pros/cons) on the use of a drop serve?
Yes! I’ll make a video on this..
Hi Jordan, do you have any advice for someone who gets the yips on serving?
Yes, I’ll try to make a video on this soon.
Congrats on the new partnership
Thanks!
Hi Jordan! I’ve just started pickleball. I’m still not able to follow thru with my arm. Any drills I can do at home?
We’ll have to make a video on this!
For beginner, is it ok to drop the ball and let it bounce on the ground first before you hit it?
Yes!
Can you address the importance of feet positioning during the serve? I see lots of beginners facing forward versus sideways (more like a golf swing). Great video!!
It is pretty important ! I will mention that in another video !
@@BrionesPickleball should you be in a 45 degree angle, left foot with back foot parallel to baseline?
@@olivermercado9282 yes, that’d be a good start
Selkirks best player IMO!

That could work, although at higher levels, players are great with their backhand returns.

Thanks Hana!
Do you personally use a different grip like an eastern forehand for your topspin serve, or you using a continental grip?
Great question. You can definitely use a continental grip, although I use an eastern grip.
@@BrionesPickleball Thanks, I use it to create topspin on my forehand drives, so I figured the serve would be the same.

Thanks! Yes, music is there on purpose lol
What about following through with weight transfer and bringing right leg up? I find it's almost natural that my right leg follows through....
That’s ok, as long as you are following the other tips!

Briones Pickleball is my current channel with all new content from me. 😊
That paddle is above his wrist in one of those slow mo. Vids

No, Jordan, I don't want to buy a Selkirk paddle. Lol
Lol, I never said you had to buy one 😊
Too many opponents will tell you your serve is illegal even when it isn't.
Maybe only the new players. Anyone who has played more than a few times will know that it’s very legal.
