Hi team, I don't comment often it's not for me why I watch. I love watching the expression of your partner Gary during this. You can see her pride, confidence and admiration to your skills and work past. My partner of 20+ years does the same. It humbles me to have such regard from one I care for so much. I aspire to have your confidence once our truck is built as I want to travel the same trails. We follow your channel as you inspire and teach us so much of your country. Keep trucking please and thank you.

Garry you are too humble and understated about your driving experience/qualifications, whoever has criticised needs to put their money in their own mouth then zip it. The sheer joy for life showing on your faces, energetic enthusiasm, and authentic connections with other living beings is keeping you young. Don't waste another minute deflecting naysayers, focus on living life, enjoying each other and every inch of our magnificent country!!

The problem is Gary, is that generally by the time most people can afford a similar vehicle, they will have retire and age will be advancing. However, I believe that doing something you love and enjoy makes your lives better than the alternative. If that means driving a truck around our beautiful country by avoiding the main highways and blacktop, so be it - why wouldn't everyone want to do it and there are a lot of people who are. I'm not quite in your age bracket, but would love to be following in your footsteps when I am your age. Keep it up guys !!!

Less is best. We have a very large house with equally large walk-in wardrobe. We spend 4-6 weeks on the road living out of a camper trailer, and each time we come home it becomes obvious that we don’t need 80% of what we have accumulated over the years. So we’re planning a lap this year. Another plus being on the road is that if the locals get on your nerves simply pack up and drive away. As for age, I know people who are +70 years old and have literally nothing to show for their lives, what a waste. Life is too short.

Greetings from NZ. I am a 67 year old male and have been on the road for 6 years now......the last 5, fulltime. There is one woman I see occasionally at different park-ups, who is 92 years old and lives on the road fulltime in her 2wd Mercedes motorhome. Yes she has the odd difficulty with some things, but there is always someone willing to help out.
I had a major heart attack at the beginning of last year, which knocked my confidence (among other things), for a while. But I wasn't going to let that stop me living my chosen lifestyle.

Some people are just jealous good on you for getting out and about. We have had all kinds of set ups and have done a lot of serious off-road travel. We have a Commander being built by SLRV due for completion end of the year we love watching you guys and the truck. We considered every combination and the SLRV on the MAN was ideal. We always tow a boat so whenever we would be in our caravan we would have to leave our boat at home so some kind of truck was the only way to go and SLRV are such great quality nothing else is in their realm. At 9m they are far shorter than a land cruiser with a small van let alone a van suitable for permanent travel the pros way out shine the cons. Keep it up guys don’t let someone on a keyboard get you down. Remember your doing it they are watching

Hi Garry & Heather. Another enjoyable/great video! The best one has to be the bum-cheek clenching Oh Shit moment!!
I have a MAN TGM 13.280, only slightly older than yours. I built the body (Habitation Box!) myself about 12 years ago & we have been travelling on & off (mostly on) since 2014. We're about to set off again -, we were going to head north but the place is under water AGAIN, so now heading to mid NSW then west through the centre to Marble Bar & the Kimberley - it may take 6-8 months to get there!.
It really is a great lifestyle isn't it?
I modified the airbag system to adjust the height left to right as well, so we usually get very level. I can also use the Air-CTI system to adjust the tyre pressures as well.
Safe travels & keep the videos coming....😁🚚

First off, you are never too old to be adventurous. Even if you end up in a wheelchair you can still have your truck modified to lift that wheelchair up so you can drive. And when you think you can't handle the steering wheel or co-ordinate the gears or make a decision while you were driving only then it is time to hang up your boots.
Gary you are amazing man with Talent same as me but you never too old to learn. Gary You are Heathers Rock. The amount of support and encouragement and to see Heather change over time and crawl out of her stagnant comfort zone is an absolute magnificent accomplishment. Heather even speaks more clearly with confidence and respect. Sometimes people need a bit of a push but not chucked under a bus LMFAO❤❤.
Graham and Heather you guys have made so many dreams come true and many more to come so you can sit down around a fire and tell your grandkids and great grandkids what UA-cam have done. And team detour is the first I have seen for Australia cruising around and having a good time in your truck as I see a heap of trucks from overseas and America mostly Europeans cruising around the countryside and expeditions but here in Australia you guys have made your documentaries clear and simple to understand and thank you for that🎉❤🍻🍻

You two are nowhere near that age yet, we would give you at least another 12/13 years yet and that really depends on your fitness at that age, if you are able to from a lying position on the ground to clamber to a vertical position you are still capable in my view. We are in our late seventies and are still traveling in a small truck and towing a fifth wheel van. You have to understand some seventy year olds are confined to an armchair in front of a TV, you will know when it's time to move out of the truck, you don't need someone else telling you that you're too old, keep on truckin guys.

Good question. We have another vehicle but usually we tend to stay away from cities. We did get caught once after we’d entered a street and there was a 10tonne road limit sign half way up the road. We didn’t see it when we turned into the street. We just kept driving and didn’t look back in the mirrors 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great to hear you’re enjoying our channel and watching the videos. We found SLRV fantastic to deal with. Great service. Quite a lengthy process because we imported the truck from Germany but well worth it in the end. We did a lot of research and SLRV were by far the leaders in this area. They are passionate about what they do and are willing to work with you if you have any suggestions or ideas. They have had customers ship their trucks from USA to have them converted. Good luck and hope to see you on the road one day!!
