About a year ago you were filming in Texas and you were talking about a Bois d"Arc tree (pronounced beau dark). That tree is very popular here in Missouri - it has many names like Osage Orange, Hedge Apple and Bodark. The Indians used to use the wood for their bows because it is tough as iron but bends without breaking. In the fall the yellow fruit falls and can supposedly ward off spiders.
I live in Dover Delaware. It has become a haven for gangs and drug dealers migrating here from NYC and Philadelphia. Every day there is a shooting. It’s a crying shame and you’re lucky you arrived on a quiet day.
You can think the Democrat party of Delaware they have been running the state themselves for decades. Joe Biden was really really a great senator. An awesome president wasn’t. He didn’t get a great job. Thank God a new sheriff in town soon.
Sorry I got behind again due to circumstances but caught up now. Great video guys. Beautiful city especially all the historic buildings. Great architecture. The parts you showed looks nice. Clean well kept up. Great job with the videoing and as usual love the commentary and the stats. Sad to say but reading Simon the comments evidently crime is ever increasing and that’s a shame for such a historical place. The legislation house was indeed a great building and the artwork was pretty nice to. A very good looking lunch and hard Togo wrong with fresh seafood and of course good gumbo. LoL. Looking forward to your next videos the rural ones you spoke of more down my line and of course the Alaska trip coming up. Also the big recap will definitely be a lot of memories. Safe trip back to the big D and some well deserved rest. Safe travels my friend. Keep videoing and I’ll keep watching.
Another fantastic exploration, thanks for taking us along. As a UK viewer, it always surprises me how English the older American settlements are, before towns and cities became “strip malled”😊 Thanks again for what you do.
I was born and raised in Dover and I’ve since moved away. It’s an utter shame that Dover has become so bad. I hope that you stayed away from the really bad areas or Dover. There always were places that were kind of rough but it’s gotten much much worse.
Joe and Nic, hope you enjoyed your time off. Hope you are still in time off mode. Thanks for your work putting this channel together. Watching you two is like going all over the country, really enjoy your efforts. You two go home to go on vacation from your work...........thanks, Jeff Rockford Illinois
Joe & Nic thank you for doing what you do…after watching the news all the bad stuff going on now. it is relaxing to watch and listen to you,I enjoy your vids
My cousin has lived for most of her life in Dover. Her father was career Air Force, and Dover was that last place where he was stationed in the early '60s, and then they just remained there after he retired. For the most part, it's a nice city. There are a few high crime areas, but if you know where they are and avoid them, it's fine.
The first relief was Washington Crossing the Delaware. The second relief was Christopher Columbus coming ashore and being greeted by the original Native Americans. Thanks Joe and Nic. Love your narrated Road Trip.
Funny. I thought that was Columbus by the clothing he had on and the hat gave it away. I was never a big history buff in school and I never thought Columbus hit that far north I thought he landed in Florida. Must have been thinking of Ponce de Leon. I had mentioned my grandson is stationed at the Air Force base. I wish you would have footage of the base. 😮 He said Dover is blaring. He wanted to travel and his buddy got transfered to Alaska. When you get to Norfolk, you need to spend more than just one day and more than one video. My husband was Navy and spent some time in Norfolk. I enjoyed Colonial Williamsburg. It's touristy but historic. Then there is (senior moment) Washington's residence. For me. The California girl watching the sun come OUT of the ocean rather than to be setting into the ocean was a thrill. I'm easy to please.😊
pretty place. that food was insanely over priced considering the portion sizes. wow. well done video. thanks for sharing yalls life with us. yours is by far my favorite travel channel and ive even got my 86 year old mother watching it. Mom calls you Joey lol. Stay safe.
This is awesome video because i grew up in delmar maryland/Delaware. Use to visit Dover and Rehoboth beach all the time. My 4th great grandfathers corn crib is somewhere in this area of the john bell house etc. His name was Elijah Carey from millsboro, delaware. He gave land for Careys united Methodist church and campground in millsboro.
Thank you for another lovely virtual excursion that affords us a look at US history. Dover is a charming city, and like most of the Eastern seaboard, we can see the influence of England in its architecture and city infrastructure. In case no one has mentioned, the bas relief that you wondered about is Christopher Columbus coming ashore. I live in a small city named Columbus and we used to have a huge statue of Christopher Columbus at the entrance to our city. A few years ago there was a big brouhaha about Columbus not being such a great fellow, and so they ended up removing the statue. We are not sure where it has been taken, but rumors are flying!
Hello from New Zealand. I've been watching your trips for a while now and love them so much. I am seeing places I would never get to see in USA and the small towns in particular Iove. I have got a couple of friends to watch as well. Thank you so much
Amazing journey! The food looked delicious! So surprised by the stats on Dover. It appears to be clean and well kept considering the crime and poverty rates.
Joe- my husband and I love your podcasts. You make us feel as if we are traveling with you. An amazing downtown river town is Quincy ill. They have 10-20,000 square foot mansions of brick and stone. They begin about 16th and Maine street and streets off main. They also have 2 old theaters that have been restored. Drive save and travel on😊
DE is (very often) a lovely and interesting place! A magnet now for retirees and remote workers from Philly/DC. There's a huge, wealthy suburban strip now, east of Rehoboth and Lewes (beach towns) that was cornfields and chicken factories 10 years ago. I hope some of this new wealth seeps into Dover and Wilmington eventually. Love the "Politics" sculpture and the Legislative Building in general. Very "homey" and approachable, while also super historic. Have visited/stayed at Rehoboth several times. Love it.
Hi from Belgium. I used to live in Fairfield, Connecticut. Been living in Belgium most of my life. Love to go along with you on your fantastic trips .😊❤
I’d love to visit Dover! Love the original Capitol and courthouse buildings! Bell House is great! Had no clue Jello was mnftd in Dover! The downtown is very nice. The Delaware Legaslative Building is beautiful. The beach is nice. Your food looked delicious ! Looking forward to your next video! ❤
My gosh at all the steps and stairs in the legislature building!! I would never see it this if it wasn't for you! It's a beautiful building. The quaint town is so picturesque. It's like stepping back in time. All the colorful umbrellas on the beach at Rehoboth were pretty. I wish I had a bowl of gumbo for breakfast right about now. lol The crab stuffed shrimp would be good too. Thanks so much. Enjoy your time at home. Can't wait to see more adventures.
i agree with you on the price. the service sizes were abysmal as a former food vendor, i think i would have had to presented that bill with a gun. to have gotten payed that price for such pitiful portions.
Oh wow, you are in my new area. I moved here from GA in February. I was downtown yesterday at the Dover Library right down Loockerman. The Silver lake is a nice place near by. There are a lot of retired people in Delaware. The cost of living here is too high, housing is ridiculous, but I think is about that way just about anywhere these days. Hope the traffic isn't too bad for dinner down in Rehob. Have fun, thank you for the video.
Always such a pleasure watching your ongoing travels throughout the USA! Also this time you to visit the first state DE. My best regards from Switzerland :)
Greens are a legacy of the first English settlers. Most colonial cities and towns in New England have Greens. For the most part they are rectangular and centered in the middle of town. Some are triangular and the one in New Haven, Conn is famously squared.
At 2:42 Joe mentions the stockade as a candidate for his man cave , After all these videos with the same mentions his man cave would have to a big warehouse filled with signs and artifacts . I always enjoy Joe & Nics' Burns and Allen routine at the end . Thanks for the trip , Happy Trails again !
I’ve been watching your videos now for about a year and as always there really fantastic talented artists type content of video production brother 😊😊😊😊😊😊
22:00 there's a convenience store near me that sells those exact butter cakes (same name and everything) for like $2-$3 bucks each. About 40 mins away from Dover.
Hey Joe, are You going to do a trip to Roanoke, Va. ? It would be interesting to hear Your take of the Star City of the South. If You make it to Roanoke, make sure that You visit the Mill Mountain Star for the whole story. Also visit Old SW part of the City on Patterson Ave. to see some the Homes there. Thanx. 😃
I had a great visit there a few years ago. Took in the Dover AFB Air Show and toured the town. It was a lot of fun. Took a great tour of both Capitol buildings!
The house at around the 3:00 mark was cool because it still seemed to have the early wavy glass windows. Most of my windows in Holyoke are the same wavy glass. It makes it seem the building was well cared for over it's lifespan thus far. Finding wavy glass to replace a broken pane can be done, but cutting it with the wheel is a major pain because 1 drop or lift and they shatter. It's frequently a pain to replace a pane! The pain in pane falls mainly on the brain (a dumb play on rain/Spain)...
I've lived in NY,NC and NJ. We had a place on Ocean City MD. and we went thru Delaware all the time. Like all places there are good areas and bad. Love the architecture. The beaches are great, most of the people were nice. 😊
I grew up in Dover during the 1950s, when it was a small town of about 8,000 people. Looking back, Dover seemed absolutely PERFECT. It was quaint and beautiful with little crime or poverty. It was big enough that anything you wanted could be found downtown (Loockerman St.), but compact enough that you could walk to everything. Sadly, today everything seems to have moved out to the suburbs with ugly sprawl that looks like "Anywhere USA". Still, Dover has great urban "bones" that could be made into something special with proper planning and investment. One would think that the State of Delaware would take greater pride in its capital city!!! BTW the old theater was the Capitol Theater, the only cinema in town, and every May, during "Old Dover Days", a Maypole would be erected on The Green, around which children in period costume would dance...
Great to see this. I'm from PA and I've never seen this. It was always a state I was driving through but there's lots of history to see. Love the John Bell house. I'm sure the air conditioner sitting outside wasn't there in 1741! Except for conducting tours I'm curious as to why they would have installed an air con.
Rehoboth Beach traffic is always crazy unless you are east of Route 1. Best to stay east of Route 1 where you can easily walk everywhere you need to go.
I 'm thoroughly grateful that you, Joe & Nicole, are part of my 'calm & relaxed' days. Appreciate you so very much. What ever do you mean you'd want the stock in your man cave..LOL. Purely decor, right? 😆wink wink.
My grandfather grew up in Delaware, when he was 7, he was sold as a white slave to a Delaware farmer, who shortly after adopted him, he did keep his birth name, however. It was found my great-grandfather was dying, and his wife died giving birth.
You should explore the southern part of Delaware. The countryside near the beaches , including near ocean city , MD is a beautiful area . Very rural. There’s a lot of chicken farms in that area .
I enjoy your road trip videos. This is a way to see areas I haven't been to. If you ever get to do more videos on Texas cities come to Lubbock, TX the home of Buddy Holly and Texas Tech University. Also the Buddy Holly Center. Buddy and I went to the same high school, Lubbock High School- a beautiful school. Lubbock is a nice place to live.
If you're still in the area, I highly recommend the cheesesteak from Akhibachi's cafe. Try it with truffle sauce and a side of Mambo sauce. Or just get the Mambo sauce.. sweet, spicy, tangy. Their fries are awesome as well. Skin on, seemed fresh cut.
LOL…I warned ya about that beach traffic! Hope you got some footage of the Newark area in northern Delaware for a future video. Chesapeake City over the line in Maryland too!
Since 2021, if you're going to go to Rehoboth Beach on the weekend, the default setting is "Joe's there" unless you know different from the news (like he's at a summit overseas).
You shld have eaten in Mariachi restaurant… we’re there for the fourth! Outlet shopping the best… Delaware has no sales tax… just saying from a northern Virginia resident! Norfolk Va Bch Chesapeake enjoy.. been there done that🥰
Nicole is from Philly and she has never had butter cake? It is originally Pennsylvanis Dutch and just about every traditional bakery here in South Jersey makes and sells it
I look forward to seeing your videos. They are very interesting and informative. I like the fact that you go to all the capitol buildings. All of them are different and unique.
This is happy fun(most of the time)! Joe and Nic's trips are the best. 😎

I love Nic’s state capitol building “project”! I would love to have a little booklet of my own and do the same thing!
You can! You can get those books at every state capitol building.
I live in Dover Delaware. It has become a haven for gangs and drug dealers migrating here from NYC and Philadelphia. Every day there is a shooting. It’s a crying shame and you’re lucky you arrived on a quiet day.

Love how you can go in the Government buildings as here in England we can not

Still watching your trips, dont always comment but ya know thank you Joe & Nic.
Awesome!
Thanks Joe & Nic by sharing this beautiful trip... Dover is a very nice historic town ! GBY !
Another great day of traveling with Joe/Nic to places I would never have seen :)
That's Columbus in that bas relief in the Dover courthouse.
I like to learn about the history of the cities and towns we never seen and when building got built.

Save travels you two. You two rock, love the videos
Thank you!!
Great vidio in the 60s I spent 2 years at Dover AFB I also spent a lot of time at the silver lake tavern, and Rehobeth beach.thanks for the visit.
This Marylander says this is a fun and thorough video! $109. for a $35 lunch? Wow, we're not in the "60s anymore are we.
A $1 McDonald's meal from the 60s is now $15 to $18 and a worker there would have to toil for an hour to pay for it.
i agree with you on the price. the service sizes were abysmal as a former food vendor, i think i would have had to presented that bill with a gun. to have gotten payed that price for such pitiful portions.
BEAUTIFUL BEACH ⛱️ THANKS JOE AND NIC ❤

A really nice smaller American town. Thanks for the tour!
Hi Joe and Nicole, I grew up in Wilmington Delaware, thanks for going to Dover 😀
Love your show
Thank you!!
I can't wait to see you guys go to Alaska, that's going to be the trip of a lifetime
If I don't see you on your way to Alaska, enjoy the drive around the edge of Vancouver. Nice plaster!
Always such a pleasure watching your ongoing travels throughout the USA! Also this time you to visit the first state DE.
My best regards from Switzerland :)
Thank you!!
The crab stuffed shrimp looked amazing
Enjoying your videos very much and I'm looking forward to the rural ones coming up. Hi from Australia.
Thank you, Richard!BTW, we're planning an Australian trip this winter. :)
And The Beach! I used to love going to Rehoboth!

My great grandmothers home in Evanston IL was built in 1902 and had wavy glass. It made me feel sea sick looking out of it.😊

Thank you, CL!! 👍❤️
Rehoboth Beach traffic is always crazy unless you are east of Route 1. Best to stay east of Route 1 where you can easily walk everywhere you need to go.
Good morning from me, Thanks for the video from Simon in Australia 🇦🇺😊
Love Seafood Gumbo and live in Lafayette, LA and that gumbo looked delicious.
It was actually quite good!
A lot of people from the Mid-Atlantic area move to Kent and Sussex Counties in Delaware for retirement.
Awesome video as always! 😎
Thank you!!
Hi from the burning UK, so great to escape with one of your great roadtrips.
Awesome!!
I watched Jaws at the old cinema you saw in Dover. Good times!!
You should explore the southern part of Delaware. The countryside near the beaches , including near ocean city , MD is a beautiful area . Very rural. There’s a lot of chicken farms in that area .
Hope you’re coming down to the beach next! You haven’t done a Delaware video of that yet I don’t believe.
Looking forward to seeing where in Iowa you choose next.
Your future trips sound great. There are a lot of homesteaders in Alaska I can't wait to see where you go.
Wish your posts were longer... they are so good...be safe out there
It's the only time I have alone with my new Dell, and I love it....
I have done a video of Lubbock! Even put the statue of Buddy Holly in the thumbnail. :)

But October will be here soon enough. Enjoy your travels!
Beautiful place❤
Beautiful video on a Delaware town.
Thank you.
We learned that the hard way. :(
Enjoyed the video. My mom and brother were both born in Dover
The food choice was excellent.
You shld have eaten in Mariachi restaurant… we’re there for the fourth!
Outlet shopping the best… Delaware has no sales tax… just saying from a northern Virginia resident!
Norfolk Va Bch Chesapeake enjoy.. been there done that🥰
