the sky in this one is terrific and placing the building in center also enhances the sky.. its a real beauty

The melody of your painting!!!! That struck a chord with me. I think you’ve captured your music in this painting.
I'm one of those walking people only way back in 2018. Vermeer's home as well as the uni. Remember the large blue pottery clogs too in front of one of the souvenir shops. Beautiful! There's a smaller house behind the Town hall with many more orange windows, the echoing of architectural features are very tempting indeed.
Those clouds are magnificent!

You are very blessed to be able to paint activities at the port there. It would definitely draw my attention as well. Regarding what you mentioned about a painting telling a story those are the most attractive paintings to me. I view studies as paintings of subjects but compositions just like in music are a story and communication. Boats can be a bit tricky but are also forgiving in the water. I think that it gives the feel that one is also in the water and I don’t necessarily believe that there has to be a horizon but just a perspective of where one would be in the painting. Even in portraiture I like a bit of something, it could be a glance or wondering what one is doing. Maybe as people we are curious or just plain nosy but it works well indeed. I missed an episode last week I believe but saw your work. Soon I will hopefully be able to be at my working area so I can maintain my mess there and enjoy my area but haven’t stopped working, just had to switch mediums to contain it for awhile. One can learn so much by just observing others at work. Happy Springtime to you and your family as well as subscribers. This is why the end of our paint brushes look gouached, I think we all do that. All purists may plug there ears or eyes by me saying that 😂Have a great weekend!😊

This was great Titus. I'm watching this on holiday in Ypres. I came a bit unstuck sketching the ornate Town Hall in Dixmuide last year 😅. I loved the sort of iridescent quality of the colours in the sail boat. I think I need to remember to get back to basics with pencil drawing, hearing you talk about the importance of drawing reminded me. 🙏🤗

Love love this video. I started a “town hall” in Dec. then stopped to do a commission. Cant wait to get back to it. I paint with acrylics.
I so enjoy these glimpses into your painting process. Thank you for sharing as I imagine they take a lot of time to produce - the art and the film. I would be interested in hearing about the colors you use in your washes and why/how you choose. Cool against warm?, umbers or browns , etc. thank you again.
This is one of your very best videos imho. I know you rarely talk about materials but what blue did you use for that sky? It is quite beautiful.
Thanks Tom. I used several blues for that sky. I remember using cobalt, ultramarine and lavender.

Love your work have been watching for quite some time. The nagging question I had though this is not a criticism, just an observation. How on Earth do you find anything in your studio? It's like you need an assistant to help clean up. I know you're really busy. I suspect that's really the reason. What are your thoughts on how organized a studio needs to be?
Haha, as long I know where to find my gear and stuff, then it's well organized for me. I don't want spend time on cleaning up
What are you doing when it looks like you’re rubbing with the back end of the paintbrush ? Is it charcoal or a eraser?
Hi Dolly. I use the back end as an eraser.

Do you use other media besides watercolor?
Sure. I use all mediums except acrylics and tempera.
Would you please share the dimension of these 2 works.
The building is 40 x 70 cm and the marian is 40 x 55 cm
You got me really upset when you started to putting in dark marks on the buildings on the right side of the painting. They were - as I see it - together with the big empty brown space below perfectly framing and balancing the big star in the centre. But I guess there is only so much you can see from a small screen video angle.
bleve you would do better to paint looser with very long brush/no sketching .Just my opinion
What do you mean by ‘better’. I love the way Titus paints and I’m sure he will make changes over time as he chooses but you can’t choose someone else’s direction. Paint like that yourself!!
i sense he is holding himself back . Oh i know his paintings are beautiful . Its like you go to dance classes and really concentrate and you dance really well but youd enjoy the dance more when you let fly. As i said just my opinion

Technically one doesn’t need a pencil at all, just light watery marks with there wc brush, a technique that Titus does know if you have closely watched his a la prima painting. Whether one has a preference how to start there own work is one’s choice. There wasn’t neat tedious torturous sketching but accurate sketching or drawing with whatever one chooses to use is the backbone of all compositions. If one’s genre or preference is to watch extraordinary fast and famous artists do cityscapes that leave little scribbles and people like me notice that there is something off, then it might by just a concept of opinion. One does what works best for each artist and finds there own way. Btw many artists have tons of a la prima experience as it has always been a way to learn by practice and more practice. There are gorgeous sketches with very fine details and there is abstract art also. Plenty of room for more if you would like and are welcome to share your work as I too am a learner and I don’t have a clue as to what might be wrong by painting “tight”. Titus does paint painterly( substitution for loosely) and covers many areas at once of the same value. I would be curious as to how it would benefit him artistically speaking if you could elaborate on your terminology because I am quite confused as I am an artist likewise and if I may have misunderstood your terminology sir please elaborate. I also by experience know the exact sizes and makers of the brushes he was using and how he downsized to grab the details only. As I mentioned, I am willing to learn sir.😊
