Why no talk :(
Yes it is
So I came to this video to see where it all began, I found your youtube channel a little over a week ago and I can't stop watching. I love the amount of creativity and passion you put into your hobby, you have inspired me to get back into making things of my own. Whether that be art, drawing, or random projects. I was in a dark place before watching your videos, now i wake up feeling excited about what the day has in store for me. Keep doing you and good luck with your videos, I know that you're destined to great things. Thank you Nate.
Same thing I did this guy has a lot of skill making baits.
I still like to come back every now and then and reminisce on how this channel started. Thank you for all you do for the community.
7 years later and he’s probably the #1 biatmaker on youtube. isnt thag crazy
Dude, it’s kind of cool to go back and see where it all began. His content started from this, and it has evolved into what is has become today, and it puts it into perspective how far he has come along in his 6 year journey, i hope he keeps posting amazing content forever!

That it time for a new one I've officially Binge watched your entire channel 😜
I love finding new channels i like and after binge watching a lot of their newer more recent videos, go back and watch their very first videos. I like to see how their channel has changed and the style evolved over the years
Yeah I’m doing it rn I’ve watched like 80 percent of his videos Ive been watching marling Baits for about 3 and a half years
I have been watchy since you built your wooden reel, and wow. You have come so far as a bait maker and a person. You have become an expert bait maker and more importantly a great father and husband. I hope to see you continue to be you.
Had to go back to the beginning after watching your latest videos . Good stuff man
I can't believe he has progressed this far to actually talking in his videos
You have amazing talent and the craftsmanship is incredible. More people need to check out your work, hope the best for you.
It’s just crazy this is where it all started. Love the content Nate. Keep up the good work
This is not a ONE DAY, this is a DAY ONE
You do great work. I can see you put a lot of thought into every bait you make. Very nice!
Thank you for everything you have done for so many of us. Inspiring us to be creative and make our own lures and even channels. I cant describe how amazing this journey is from start to finish every video. Had to go back and start from the beginning again, I'm carving right now, wood chips all in my room haha. Stay safe, take care fan for life been here for years already myself. 💯🤟💪 keep em coming! On to the next bait!
"On to the next bait"
Where it all began. We love you bro @marlingbaits
Totally watching from the beginning!!👍👍
2020 dude you're my favourite UA-camr some of your vids are pulling 2.6m views buddy.....keep it up 😅
I decided to watch all of your videos again from as far back as I could find.
So this is where it all began.
Wow you've came a long way man!
I like watching the different techniques you used in this video and than watching your newset video (the one were ypu make the jitterbug) and just seeong the new techniques and old ones you still use
A few people have asked about resin used for lures. I personally like to use “Amazing Casting Resin” by Alumilite Corp. It is a two part urethane resin that hardens clear. You can add silica micro-spheres to it to reduce the density of the resin and get a floating lure.
Hope that helps.

I’m starting to look at getting into this with Clear Urethane, there’s a local guy who’s adding coloured glitter and paints into the actual lure, it’s amazing, he’s not giving any secrets away so it’s up to me to try and replicate what he’s doing.
2019 you’ve blown up on UA-cam nice job
This was a great video! Just confirming that the way I was hoping to be able to do it... Was possible. Thanks for the upload!
So this is where it all started
It’s been a long time
Still enjoy your videos man! Will always get my thumbs up!!
I would love to see a revisit of this one, so many years on.
I'm getting the same vibes from when on the TV show "the office" jim gives Pam the video showing why he loves her so much in the final season. Idk why.
I must say you have come along way. You must have been a baby because this was before you could talk, ha ha.
Great video Nate that for sharing it Cheers Mike
Skills...you got....glad I hit that RED button. It makes me want to go try to make baits. Enjoyed the video.
like and commenting because it deserves more attention.
So this is how it all started🙂.
wow small screw in eyes for such a big game fish, def should have through wires for such sized fish.
Great video as always. I wish you wouldve shown the lip install. Im starting that type but have trust issues with those compared to the screw eyes. Is there any tips you can give me. Thanks.
nice, how heavy do those things turn out to be? 60 g?
must be less dense than metal, but are there any types of heavier/denser types of resin out there?
People have already asked, but i’ll ask again. What resin are you using? Looks hard and perfect surface finish. I’ve been using a few different alumilite products and cannot get mine to come out even remotely clean or uniform
Well this is how Phil Robinson (Duck Commander co.) got his start only he was working out at the shed making duck calls with his brother. Great things usually start small.
I had to go back and see what the first video was like 👍
That's awesome
You should design easy baits that you can make tutorials on to get more attention.
any reason the lip couldn't also be part of the casting? why not cast the finished product?
A legdend was born
So I’m sure you get a lot of messages but I hope your able to read this..
My buddy and I are opening a fly fishing guide service and shop and I thought it would be a cool idea to offer the ability to get a good fish they catch mounted.. now I know you don’t do taxidermy but you are amazing at carving and painting. I was observing if it was possible to work with you to be the one to carve some of these fish. Your more than welcome to take your time with it if you choose to do it. But I really like the work you do and would love to help promote what you do. I know this is asking a lot but I would be really grateful if you said yes.
You can find us on River Walkers Fly Fishing on Facebook
sorry sir i want to ask, what resin is in use and whether it can float in water?
I didn’t even realize this was marling till the end
whats that blue stuff you rub onto your buffer wheel? does buffing the bills make the edges smooth?
+Anthony Lopez It's a buffing compound for plastic. It takes out all of the micro scratches from sanding and makes the edges really smooth.
What resin are you using here?
That's it just screw in a eye hook for trebles?
what resin do you use
I know this is pretty old but do you remember which resin you used and would you use it again? I’ve used he alumilite white but it seems a little soft for toothy saltwater critters
Ok thanks. Judging from the drilling and cutting of the lure it looked plenty hard enough to use for saltwater use.
Nice work! What are you using to make the lure mould and the body? Cheers!
+Stephen Hamill Thanks! I use Illuseffects RTV silicone to make the mold, and a high strength two part resin with glass microspheres added for buoyance.
are all of the resin baits weighted in the same place?
ใช้ตเรซิ่นตัวใหน อัตราผสมเท่าไหร่อยากลองทำครับ

How strong is the bond between the eye screw and the body? I know for a lot of lures that are made for really large fish like muskys and stripers they use a wire through type construction so there is a direct connection between the line tie and the hooks. I was just wondering how strong your lures are in comparison to a design like that
+16GHunter Yeah in theory through wire baits are always stronger than screw eye baits. By design the bait can even crack and fall apart mid fight, and the wire should still hold together. I'll make through wire baits for my saltwater / freshwater customers who ask. For how strong the bond is with a screw eye bait.. Muskie fights can be very intense, but it's super doubtful any fresh water game fish could yank out, or open up, an epoxied in 1.25" x 0.092" Magnum screw eye from a well molded resin bait, or hardwood bait. Most fishermen over the years haven't had any trust issues with them it seems. I personally think through wire baits can look a lot better if the wire is bent well, and like knowing I'm fishing with something that can't really fail in pulling in any fish.. if I do my part that is lol.
@@marlingbaits surprisingly, the screw eyes can actually withstand quite a load. I've pulled in 35 lb fish with plugs that just have screw-eyes "screwed" in, no glue. reels have drags for a reason, to play a fish. no reason to be strong-arming a fish in. that said, I don't like screw-eyes, especially if they aren't fixed in with epoxy. so I went to the through-wire for my lures.
whats the white stuff u put in the epoxy
+Nick Lankford It's "glass microballoons". It's for making the resin float; the more you add the more your blank will float. www.ebay.com/itm/Alumilite-Microballoons-32oz-/151817842601?hash=item23590c6fa9:g:aw4AAOSwWnFV-EAG
I'm new to this and my main concern is how do I close the hole where I put my weights in? anyone know?

What is the material you are doing?
i thought about you and said i wanna see his first video...its terrible lol but the new ones keep me laughin
Why don't you make more epoxy lures? Partner up with that soft plastic mold you have on some epoxy lures
Hei, what material for your minnow lips?
Hey where can i get one of those lead melting pots?
do-itmolds.com sale them
*First!
Super glue baking soda

A big musky would rip the hooks right out of the bait
@@TinyBoatNation and, the screw-eyes could be epoxied in. This wasnt the finished product.
100% no chance. He either epoxy or super glued them in. If he used epoxy is basically the same stuff so it becomes one with the lure
So much have happend whit your videos.
covid19
Coming to the realization I’ve been watching you make baits for 9years makes me feel old and I’m only 26 🫠😂
