For me, she is the female equivalent to Bette Davis the actress in that she doesn't conform to the norm and isn't scared or frightened to do things differently.
Fearlessness is right. She will always be my favourite artist.

Not sure but when I heard this song a couple years ago I felt like I'd heard it before somewhere but I have no idea.
The audio for this video is from The Kate Bush Live on Stage EP 1979 ( you can hear the audience at the beginning and end). which got to number 10 in the UK. Apparently, actual stage footage was not yet ready so Kate recreated the stage performance for this video. So what you are hearing is a live performance. It was also the first recording on which Kate took the lead as the producer.

The song is from her debut album The Kick Inside which was released when she was 19. The album was recorded while she was 17/18.

Kate Bush is cute, but she is no say Dolly Parton. An artist like Dolly who wrote stuff like “9 to 5” and “Jolene” is just realer. Kate is like a Posh English woman with music industry connections. Dolly Parton is a working class hero. In general all the truly greatest singers represent deeper struggles.
i have to disagree and say dolly parton's writing does not come close to kate's.

You can be as technically skilled as you want you still have nothing worthwhile to say and are participating in art as an opiate for the masses instead of using to try and end capitalism.
