One the MOST UNDERRATED PRODUCERS EVER!!! Str8 raw style, and still that golden era feel. it would be fly if Pete Rock and K-Def did a project together.
You know what would make this series better? How about dropping some knowledge about the producer before they start. Or just posting some fun fact bubbles through out the episode.
+Dave Totally agree with you !
No way, why not research them yourself?
Kenny Lopez cause it will make their show much better. Knowing this guy produced this and that.
I'm more interested in viewing their personal setup, what hardware they use, what records they get, how they chop up and arrange the samples and how they make magic out of nothing. If I like their style, I'm definitely searching for their music. It's like looking for samples, you can dig for them or pay people to do it for you. Where's the fun in that?
+Dave hah. They played one of his beats at the intro. Like they do on all the videos, they play a beat by the featured producer.
K-Def is CRIMINALLY underrated. Found the DOPE on his blind picks! Amazing chops too. 🔥▶️💾
His work w da youngsta's is some of the most underrated hip hop ever made.
Mad props!!!! Cuts is nasty as well!
WORD!
IK
He didn't even buy the records. Just sampled them right in the store.. That is so Gangster!!
I know the artists don't want to risk making something wack making them look dumb but I wish they didn't always go to the soul or jazz section. This beat was still dope as fuck, though. Some samurai champloo shit.
"How nice I am" forever my joint
i think its my number two beat of him. number one is "what i'm after", number three "return of the life"
Forever!! I still play it every single day!!
one of the best series on youtube ever!
do one with erick arc elliott if possible please
+Patrik Lee Harris HELL YES
Patrik Lee Harris they have one if you haven't seen it yet.
Every time i feel like I cant think of a beat, i watch this and get so inspired. Love this show!
JUST SO FUCKING DOPE!!!! One of the best in the series. I though it couldn't get any better than 9th. Homie killed this. PROPS!
Sh ain't better than 9th
one of the most slept on producers no doubt
Probably my favorite Rhythm Roulette so far. I just stumbled onto these a couple weeks ago.
I liked this one, this guy went straight to work, no hype, he just let the end result do the talking for him. Good work.
Crazy how he put in harmony those samples
thats exactly why this is so impressive. He used different samples from 3 records and found the same tones and notes to blend them. Incredible sound.
Love kdef! One of my favourite hip hop producers of all time, I don’t have a favourite. He has so much material on bandcamp, support if you can.
that could have very easily been spun into some WU SHIT! DAM...good stuff right there!
💯💯
+JokerMansBeats I was thinking the same thing. The first drumbreak was like some 95 RZA
@@Ayplus I was too!
Can you guys please have damu the fudgemunk do this? I know he was on for a special but I want to see him actually play the game!! Haha
YEAH WOULD BE AWESOME DAMU THE FUDGEMUNK IS DOPE
This gotta be one of the best ones yet.
Makes me feel like I'm a kid again back in the early 90s. Props
Definitely dope! K-Def is 1 of my favorite Golden Era producers. An inspiration indeed. #MadProps
K-Def and Larry O Be on some Real Live Shit.
I'll leave ya froze like heron in ya nose!
Yoooooo y’all literally read my mind. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Fat Joe and Raekwon on that beat...and call it Bury The Hatchet"
+OrionSound fuck yeah
Loved his work on Ghostface Pretty Tony. Favorite Ghost album right after Supreme Clientele.
+QuadrantBottomHalf yeah yeah this would b dope with red man and killa priest BooM
I've followed his work for a while he is a beatmaker turned producer! K-def has been the truth a looooong time he can make beats with the best of them or produce with the best!
at first i was excited when i read k-def rythm roulette. then i was a bit dissapointed when i saw him just using a laptop and no sampler or anything. but then i heard what he did and its fucking awesome ! definetly one of my 5 favorite rythm roulette's !
He messed with old gear on his Instagram
K-Def is so underrated.
How Nice I Am is one of my favorite tracks from K.
+JuanJose247 Yeah, that's one of his top tracks, in my opinion.
I love it, my first impression was he just sampling and looping but that's that fire.
Great episode. Shout out to Iris Records, love you guys-always a dope selection.
the "real live" album by k Def and Larry O was nuts... wish I still had it ...came out in 99 I think ....
96'97.more than likely
You gotta get kev brown in there next
was waiting to see k touch the mp but nonetheless love how the greats can take something so simple and make it so banging guess thats why they gods at this. salute. and for the record mad props....
This kid killed it! Come how can anyone thumbs down this one?
Damn, man. This is crazy. That drum pattern is so tight.
One of the best Rhytm Roulette beats i heard in a while
I knew of K-Def before watching this through Damu & Redef, but now I'm compelled to check out some of his stuff!
underrated legend
@0:10 the opening track is "Chief Rocka" by Lords of the Underground
K Def is definitely an underrated producer...dope joint!
this is my favorite rhythm roulette hands down! so dope!
I'm geeked. k-def is one of the most slept on producers of all time. Criminally underrated. And his beat...yo...
Ive always dug hip hop...but what this series has done for hip hop has brought about a new found appreciation for the art, culture, and life of hip hop...i see from a brand new lense....nuff respek!!!!!
Amen to that. I've always been more of a fan of producers than rappers so this is a blessing for me.
K-Def and Larry O had some shit back in the day.. Son cold af on the boards
I bought that album on cassette the week it came out. Nothing but hot beats on there, every track was like a movie with a dope cinematic background.
Surge-Cess You already know Fam.. Since "Real Live" days he had that touch..
"K-Def and Lario be on some Some Real Live shiiittttttttttt"
K def is in my top 5 all time. His joints are dope
One of the best ones yet, I think the series would be dope if they highlighted the producer's accomplishments then let the beat be downloadble...this jawn was tough
like seeing a producer bumpin windows
One the greatest along with premier
I think we're all waiting for The Alchemist!
wodziszcze they asked him on twitter and he said if they pay him 50k lol idk if he was serious
And Metalfingerz too!😉
Wow, I cant believe this one evaded me and I had never seen it before! Top job Mr Def!
A Blackstar reunion could do with this joint
DJ Shadow or Pretty Lights please
One of the best, funkiest, most musical, and the most humble.
Big K.R.I.T, 9th Wonder, K-Def are the top 3 Riddim 'lettes to be honest.
Diego Zimmerman My favorite ones so far are 9th Wonder, Da Beatminerz, K-Def, Sporting Life, and araabMUZIK
I agree but what about Oh No!? His methodical flippage of game samples was legit!
Check
ski beats too... sick
Large Professor and Havoc were sick too!!!!!
Anything this dude makes is pure gold!
Soon as i saw K -to the Def had to check in!!! Real live ish!!! 🔥
Now that was Dope...I don't know how I missed this one
This guy knows sample placement like the back of his hands.
Great to see K-Def in action! And nice choice of location… Iris is a great shop.
where is it?
@@JusDOrange9470 Jersey City, NJ
Yo the way K-Def did this I did not see it coming!. But this is the way Pete and them did beats mad different records to make one beat! K-Def been fly! Btw notice the drums make the beat for all the new beat makers!
stfu
xvillian - wow you're a douche bag
Legend! the sickest beat i've heard in Rhythm Roulette!!!
People can say what they want but there is TRULY an art to sampling
damn man, I can definitely hear Nas, Mos Def, Nick Grant going on this joint. Throw Black Thought in the mix too
Soo dope! Why would anyone make hip hop that doesnt sound like this!?
+James Bridges What a stupid question my friend! Why do you get out of bed in the morning? Simply because you can!
+Murrizi rhetorical question!
Wow, those are definitely some interesting records he picked!
One of the best producers ever, underratted and 90's shadow of Marley Marl
This is one of the best ones I've heard so far, probably top 5.
This was impressive. Seemed like he didn't even try that hard. I also didn't expect him to use all 3 together like that. I found it interested how he forced them to work with each other. It was a very different approach from most other people. The drums could have been better though.
you can guarantee anything with kdef involved with its going to be certified classic
blew up. Wow !! K-Def is just amazing !!
this was mad ill, I can't wait for Madlib to be on here
Wow, kdef smashed it... What a pro
This is absolute quality.
Legend...and his latest joint "the way it was" is TIGHT btw...alot of the classic instrumentals on there...
1:15 I literally said oh shit cause that sample was perfect...then he says oh shit
Made it look so easy! Well done.
I went on autopilot at 0:09 i don't know why i couldn't stop it but boom shaka laka yo here comes the chief rocka...
KDef is a fuckn Legend!

+Dion Parker that's cubase 8
+Dion Parker Nope.That's Cubase
+Dion Parker cubase was never cakewalk... cubase was always cubase (still got an atari that runs it flawlessly)
Dion Parker haha yeah i feel ya.. i havent been using those either haha... even back on the atari i find notator was a bit cooler
+Smoove B. kiss
He's left handed. He's the deeeeeevil. Pure eviiiiiiiil
K-Def and 9th Wonder, the two best Rhythm Roulettes so far (april 2016)
Cant leave out Large Pro
K-Def was always dope..hell he even inspired Damu the fudgemunk to drop some hot ish...
RHYTHM ROULETTE FOREVER!!!! Yo - K-Def has a unique style, and I'm feeling' it! Seems like he was thinking arrangement while he was looping...I hear breaks, bridges, possible fades. Wow. Think Differently.
KING. THANK TOU FOR THIS ONE!
Yall need to make a compilation album of all the beats made
this was a great episode. K-Def Killed this beat..
he beasted this pretty easy...this was dope...
there should be a little compilation/mixtape of all of the beats from everybody that's done the rhythm roulette...or at least the best of...fans vote for the tracks they want on it or something..
Damn he flattened the drums he should’ve never mind...
Kdef keeping it real with that classic hip hop sound
Tuff beat. Kdeff is Deff the real deal!!!! Props on this episode.
1:40 - you've lost... that looooving feeling....
One of the first cats to program beats on a computer....besides Mantronik of course.

You said Mantronik. On the strength of that alone I gotta sub your channel. Respect!
I saw first man who working in Cubase in USA))
Holy shit that horn sample was used in Tony D - Armed & Dangerous beat from Central J Parlay EP (1995) ...has to be the same horn?
awesome series, great episode
The horns are dope
KDef is a beast. Turnaround such a slept on album too, Real Live Shit
That was DOPE
That’s crazy, that’s the first hip hop producer who uses cubase. I thought I might be the only one!
