I purchased 5 of the same t-shirt and 3 of the same jeans FIVE YEARS ago (replaced on occasion, with the exact same version of the same items) and in all that time, I can't think of a time anyone has mentioned it. Not once. Literally NO ONE CARES. Minimalise your wardrobe!
I literally have 3 black Levi’s jeans lol and about 4 shirts I recycle all year lol, 3 long sleeves and black tee shirts, still have the same pair of sneakers for 2 years now.
Ever since I bought my kids only black pants and black shorts and a variety of simple t shirts, they've been able to dress themselves without any intervention from me and my husband. GAME CHANGER!
My family always ask me why my husband and I wear black all the time. For them black clothes are for a funeral or something like that. I always think that I was born in the wrong country. 😂

Thank you, I needed this! I feel comfortable in my simple/ samey clothes and most people don't even notice anyway, or certainly don't feel need to comment. But my mother in law does and is vocal about it. I realised that I build a negative narrative about it everytime I think about her and that needs to stop now. It's her problem not mine, I'm wearing clothes which feel comfortable for me, make me feel good - I need to own that!
I got intrigued by a 100-day challenge from a Merino wool company. I wore the exact same shirt and jeans for 100 days, rinsing the shirt in warm water once every 2 weeks, and rinsing the jeans once. I have since continued the "challenge". As of today, I've worn the exact same shirt and jeans for 172 days.
I tend to get attached to my current outfits comfort wise. Because weather changes so often, like by the week, I'll put a certain long underwear and turtleneck together and it just is the perfect weight, so nothing else is good enough so I just wear it for a few days. I'm also female and don't sweat much though. The only thing I worry about is other people noticing it, but now I'm old enough not to care. I wish everyone was like this and that the whole "you can't wear the same clothes twice theory was extinguished".
I am about to do this white t-shirts. I’m tired to making decisions, even though my wardrobe is super small. I’m going with white though as black looks super harsh on me.
I bought 50 super plain black shirts. I wear 10 now. I read about spotlight effect, a student wore a Barry Manilow tshirt and no one took notice (I think no one took notice). And yeah, nobody realized that I wear the same black tshirt until I made a joke about myself wearing the same tshirt. They can't unsee it now. But hadn't I told them, they wouldn't know or even care
The people who notice what you wear are 7th grade girls. All it takes is one girl to give your daughter the side eye, and daughter will refuse to wear the outfit ever again. (drama). If women do the same thing, one must assume they still have their 7th grade brain happening.
I have two bins of socks: one black and one grey. I wear black pants and black shoes. I do a little color in my shirts, but overall everything is very simple.
If i find something I like I buy multiples of it. I buy tons of black clothes easy to coordinate clothes, I have " signature" jewelry all black n silver that I always wear it goes with everything makes life so much simpler

I don’t care about what other people think. But I would be sooo bored to wear the same outfit all the time. I love creating different outfits and I do have a closet full of clothes I love to wear. Wearing the same black shirt every single day would be like eating only oatmeal for every meal. That said, I do love my oatmeal for breakfast (almost) every day. But how boring would it be to just have oatmeal and nothing else.
I wear black t-shirt most of the time but different in material and it had been phenomenal to me. No need to mix and match all that stuff. I have shirt to wear at home or sleep, for working out and for going out. In that way I can still be minimalistic about my clothing without making myself look sloppy
I recently bought some plain crewneck shirts from Amazon! It’s the Amazon essentials shirts…I have four black two burgundy and two navy blue and I just pair it with one if my cardigans for winter snd wear it by itself in summer!! I can dress the basic shirt up or down! Can be fancy doesn’t have to be!!! I never looked back I never realized how essential these shirts are to my life!!! Woohoo!!!! And no one noticed that I wear a plain crewneck shirt instead of a different style shirt each day!! And it simplified how I pick out what to wear each morning and less decision making!!! Yay!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

If you love to express yourself through clothes, this is not for you. I used to have a lot of different clothes, and in the end I didn't like anything, that's why since 5 years ago I always wear the same clothes, black and grey, because it's easier for me. I don't have to worry about what I'm going to wear to go out, plus I have the tendency to accumulate clothes, so this way I don't have that desire.
Brian, please. Of course people noticed that she was wearing one sweater. Every woman with a slight interest in fashion in her office noticed. We all have (in most cases) a guy at work who owns 2 sweaters, and he bought them both in 1999. It is true that we don't care though. The only time I think someone should care about it if you own one sweater is if you are a company representative and you're hygiene is not good or your sweater is clearly worn out.
A long time ago, a lady at work came in wearing a new maroon colored pantsuit. She looked really nice in it and everyone told her how good she looked. But then she wore it every day for at least the next two weeks. My co-workers thought that was the weirdest thing in the world, and would laugh about it behind her back. They nicknamed her "Captain Cranberry". My closet is filled with only black clothes (and a couple white tops) and that's all I've ever worn since the early 80's! They nicknamed me "The Lady in Black", but they said it to my face, and not behind my back! My best friend, when she heard someone ask me, "Why do you always wear black?", said, "That's her uniform".
My RN scrubs are one style, 2 black sets, 1 grey set. Now, as a Substitute Teacher, I’ve complicated my mornings again. Time for wardrobe simplification. Thanks for the reminder.

My friends laugh at me because i bought 4 pairs of the SAME athletic shoe (on sale, the cost of all 4=1) and don't have to worry about buying shoes for another decade.
It's interesting to me that if a shirt that you have worn everyday spontaneously combusted, you wouldn't be upset. I feel pretty fragile that way when it comes to clothes. Not having comfortable clothes gives me anxiety.

I know I do know a few people who wear the same thing every day..... as long as they don’t smell bad it doesn’t matter I guess but it seems strange to me. I just assume they have no fashion sense so don’t bother with it or that they have low self esteem or they are poor/ grew up in a country where most people don’t own a lot of clothing so it became normal to them. In the Soviet Union my parents had maybe like 3 outfits for the week that my mom said she would alternate the tops and bottoms to look like she had more clothes but people just didn’t own a lot of stuff because of communism. Some of my off the boat Russian friends also wore the same thing multiple days which is kind of looked down upon in American culture. I’m thinking if it’s a stylish elegant neutral outfit you can pull it off as a woman but it doesn’t look good if it’s every day.
You have to respect the company image you are working for. Wearing the same outfit for 365 days is going way too far. I am not advocating that you have to put on a different attire everyday. You are different from others because you are promoting minimalism and that's is your career.

I've used the timer method and it works great ! I usually set it for 30 minutes and I'm surprised how much I get done.

I have to wear a sport coat and tie to work daily. Since early 2020, I have worn the same 2 sport coats and the same 2 ties. No one has noticed.
