The trouble with this advice is that it totally misses the depth of intimacy that happens when a man and a woman have a true connection spiritually, then get to know & enjoy each other socially & then bond emotionally and finally physically intimacy, that is what not only draws them together but the hormones released as they spend more and more time together, gets them to commit to eachother for life, for better or worse, in sickness and in health etc. Except for the narcissist and similar egotists, their good character recognition of each other, and good memories, true love keeps them from switching loyalty or affection. What you say is very true initially, but in a healthy relationship that competition ends at marriage
