I want to be still and hear God's voice better than any other voice I can only do this when I fast or just be quiet, food takes a lot of my time since I like to cook so much, but I find I feel so much better mentally physically and spiritually when I'm not eating and just drinking water and waiting to hear in quiet surroundings. Thank you for encouraging us all to shut out the world the flesh and the devil and stay seated with God in heavenly place. Christ has already won over this world and I want to live in his victory now while I'm still here physically. 💕🙏

I was trying to find out how to pray effectively while fasting. I started fasting a month ago and have promised God that I will fast all my life once a week but when I fast I do not have the energy to pray much. So my whole day is just hunger without much prayer :) So I am not sure If I am getting any thing from it. My main reason of fasting was to become humble but have I become more humble? Not sure:)
I want to try fasting and prayer and I'm not sure how to do it when I love food so much ☺️😑😑😑
Please continue. You can eat fruits at night so you can have strength to pray. There's a difficult stage where it becomes difficult and you want to quit. Once you pass that stage..... you'll start cruising. That's where the devil wants you to stop and believe it's not working.
Sometimes; you have to repeat several times for it to be effective. Infact make it a lifestyle

If I start a seven day pray and fast as a smoker, is it OK to continue smoking or would I be setting myself up for failure by trying to do it all at once
Not sinning would be not smoking, you can do it!!!! The water in your fast will be so much better then the toxins of the sigarets! You are going to get a headache if you waterfast alone, if you leave your sigaret now, before fasting, you wont have to go through that 2 times, you are not going to keep releasing toxins, you only do it once... you can!!! And you will be free! God WILL give you the power to let them go, to be free, to release you from slavery on that sigaret, to release you from the smell, the lungproblems, heartproblems, ... and you will be financially in a better place! ❤🙏🏽
The other answer is very good. That methed would be the best. You could possibly do your fast and start out with a set number of cigarette. Do the best you can. Some people quit smoking while they fast.
I know that if I waited for myself to be perfect before I fasted, I would never get started.
Try doing the best you can. God knows we are not perfect and He is compassionate. God bless you.
I've been wondering the same thing, but with chewing tobacco instead. I just started a fast, but turns out I have a pinch in my lip 50%-75% of the day. I feel like it defeats the ultimate purpose of the fast, which is to heal and grow spiritually and physically.

Hi @Generation Church I have a question, is there a specific season for prayer and fasting for Christians? Is Prayer and Fasting can be done any day or can only be done during lent. I believe Lent is only observed by catholics. I am asking this because I have fasted in the month of February. And it’s March now the start of Lent because I was born catholic, but christian by heart. I would be grateful if this question will be answered. Thanks
For any believer in Jesus, one may fast any time throughout the year and for any amount of time. That could be 1 meal all the way to 40 days. 40 days is extremely rare and God would need to tell you all about that. Usually people will go without food for 1-7 days with water only. There's several types of fasts but those are the most common and described in the Bible.

Jesus hated, the Roman Catholic Church teaches for doctrine the commandments of men. We need to repent and ask Jesus to be Lord of our lives and then we receive the Holy Spirit and are considered a new person in Christ (born again) and spiritually regenerated. Maybe you know all of this, but I didn't. Once I let go of all the rituals and programming and trusted the Bible was God's word, it came alive for me and I pray the same happened to you to. I'm so grateful to know the truth and pray the billion other souls still in the Roman Catholic Church will get set free; to get off the hamster wheel of trying to work their way to Heaven and to have peace with God because Jesus died for all of our sins. We are saved and adopted by God when we can trust Jesus's death on the cross for our sins was complete and there is nothing we can do to add to our salvation. God bless you, Maricris. :)

There aren't specific seasons of fasting and praying. Choosing to start a fast can be lead by the Spirit or by your when you know you are seeking the Lord. Check out our current series on Prayer for more teachings on your questions about prayer!

Hi Shaniya! God can speak to us in different ways, and it's not always in an audible voice. The best thing you can do is build a strong relationship with God in order to hear and recognize his voice. Spend time in prayer, read His Word, and live according to His ways. This will help you to listen and be sensitive to God's voice. when i pray ..my thoughts are all over like i have 2 minds thinking same time..i find hard to focus
and often feel unworthy of Him .
What can i do??
Start from the beginning: you are created by Him as his child and He loves you even when you do the sin. He suffer when you suffer. He is happy when you are. When you walk away He watches at you and wait for you to come back to Him. You have free will and it's up to you if you get your sh.t together or keep watching videos and do nothing. Waiting for inspiration is not working towards aim.

Instead of singling out one version or rejecting another, try using multiple versions to cross reference each other. Also, it is good to research the root and meaning of some verses, what it said in Greek for example. Hope this helps. God bless!
