Cutting interest rates isn’t going to lower my electric bill, grocery bill, car insurance, or my homeowners insurance. They all went up the past three years.

The issue is that the Fed kept intrest rates low too long and printed too much money. cheap money chasing too few of good is what has caused the inflation we're seeing today. It hit the housing market way in advance. If the Fed lowers interest rates, then inflation will kick back in and we'll be in the Weimer Republic territory. We've kick the can down the road and ran out of road. So now is do we allow the market to reset, like it should have in 08', or do we debase our dollar to toilet paper. Either way we're screwed

If you look at the Dow Jones Industrial chart over the last five years, a loss of thirty percent would put the market correction back where it was (low 30k's) during 2018. Even then, the market was over-rated. Exuberance has ruled, ignoring history. Labor statistics showing trouble ahead.

I believe Powell knows exactly what he's doing. He needs to eradicate any memory of the term transitory. He needs to throw the banks a bone, by driving treasury rates into the basement. There was a serious lack of employees in this economy. As Powell said, the labor market needs to normalize.
We are normalizing the labor market by allowing millions of ILLEGALS to come in and replace American workers with low paid ILLEGALS ~ This is all "planned" by the billionaire elites running the nation. And it looks as though the economy is being productive.

My biggest concern is the PPI/CPI prints in 2 weeks. They won't make a move until they see those numbers. If those come back at anything more than 3% I think they don't step in and make a move until the Sept meeting (if then) as they continue to hedge against inflation more than employment. The only way they move toward employment instead is if the weekly numbers start printing over 4.5 or 5% (everyone knows those are fake as they double count part timers and don't count people falling off unemployment),; if they go over 5% then they will consider putting inflation concerns on the back burner. Remember once inflation appears to be a concern the Fed will toss unemployment (historically) to a secondary concern.

The impacts of interest rates LAG!!!! Let me say it again LAG! this is why it took so long for inflation to come down. The issue with the FED is it decreases rates too late and the lag effect comes in after the damage is done.
And yea the fed rates follow the 2 year yield because its basically demand for short term debt and what the FOMC does (buys and sells bonds)

I was at the local pool club and everyone was nervous about how much portfolios got hit, but they didn’t sell, they were questioning me because I didn’t get hurt because at my age, I am fully invested in bonds, of course, if the monkey gets seriously oversold, I will margin and buy stocks at sale prices, but in the meantime, what I realize is that the smart money got out these last couple of days and average retail person is still holding on on the next leg down, they are gonna puke up their stocks, cause they cannot take the pain this market is hoping for cut, but that’s going to be a negative for equities because the consumer is rolling over which will affect corporate, we just got a little taste of it last week
