Since 2017, I have found solace in being apart of an online space as fun and supportive as the editing community. Nevertheless, my attachment to social media and digital forms of communication in general begins far before 2017.
Today's episode is ultimately an act of self reflection, as I aim to consider the personal factors that initially drew me to online spaces and eventually brought me into the editing community. Why am I able to find so much comfort in something or someone beyond myself? Perhaps because it is difficult to find comfort and contentment with myself and my life.

I edit bc it just makes me forget everything and the edit turns out so good i feel so proud of myself, kinda like u get the feeling that ur not useless yk. it just relieves my stress and i have a lot of fun with it.

This and episode one are the only episodes I could relate to by far. Now that I'm looking back to my high school days, it's weird having a different persona online to have this form of escapism from your personal problems espcecially since you can be or act as whoever you want on the internet. And it feels even more weirder when you, like, merge your true image online after a long case of having built a separate persona but I know that, eventually, you'll get used to it. Thank you so much for bringing that up, Lauren!

Help why is this the most relatable episode so far- I’m not even halfway through it and it’s already so relatable. I start junior year in 3 days, so I’m going to try and live it out the best I can and have the best year I can. Sure I’ll still edit, but I’ll be more active in real life instead of online.

For five years now, since I was in 7th grade, I've enjoyed editing videos as a hobby. It's a great way for me to express my creativity and relieve stress. I've used various editing tools such as Flimgram, Funimate, and CapCut, and now I use Alight Motion. Currently in 11th grade, I really appreciate Lauren as a listener and enjoy watching her videos!

I relate sooo much to what u say in this episode, especially the idolisation of celebrities and dedicating hours to them because they’re everything u want to be. In fact when u were talking about that aspect, I was thinking “damn, is editing sort of like a cult mindset?”
The thing I like about editing is that I can literally CREATE anything I want. If I want a 3D room with Sabrina carpenter turning into a ghost, I can do it. Everything is completely changeable in editing, and usually that just comes in the form of imagination, but you can’t share that. But you can share edits. And you have so much control in editing which is almost impossible to find that much control anywhere else
But when you share edits you think about the views, comments, if it’s boring. You can compare your edits to other peoples. Like I could have the most complex and smooth transitions and still feel like it’s boring and dry. It’s definitely an interesting hobby to say the least
your life is as valuable AS A SUMMER ANT.

I started editing when I got a major burn out in my other hobbies. That was about year and a half ago. Now editing to me is filler, but not in a bad way (I think). Of I have a void in my life - I fill in with editing. If I have no motivation for my other hobbies - I edit. If my mental health gets worse - I edit. If I try avoiding my responsibilities (mainly because of mental health) - I edit. If I have an argument with a loved one - I edit. I don't think that's healthy but idc😋 I make, like, 3 edits a day
