Assertive communication is one of the key DBT skills in the sphere of interpersonal effectiveness. It means expressing your opinions, emotions and needs clearly, honestly and respectfully without forgetting the needs of the ones you communicate with. There are six assertiveness skills we will work on, in two parts.

a question I have is, if this is actually presented in such a way in dbt therapy, or if you work more with the patient on these skills rather than educating them as much?
are all these infos presented to the patient as well?
There is therapeutic DBT (support) groups where clients learn DBT to communicate in their lives. Your therapist or Doctor should be able to find one for you and put in a referral.
