Battle of tripoli
“Unnumbered Tears” from the first age of middle earth would be an amazing battle to cover
Dragon's render all strategic planning down to the simple question: Are there enemy Dragons within a days flight of the battlefield? If yes, run. Its not particularly exciting. This Blackfyre stuff is great though!
Are you going to be covering the Dance of the Dragons and the later Blackfyre Rebellions at some point?
The Blackfyre Rebellions would make for a fantastic show.
Yes I think that might be what the prequels focus on. Aegon's conquest, the Dance of the Dragons and then the Blackfyre Rebellion.
Yeah D&D should start working on that

“Raise the black dragon proudly high
From northern snows to the reaches sky
Let every man his battle cry
Be arise, arise for Daemon
See his small but loyal band
With Bittersteel they make a stand
And each man swears
By heart and hand
To stand and fight for Daemon”
Where's that from
@@will2brown50I guess it's from Bloodraven
The biggest shame of the Blackfyre Rebellion is that both Daemon and Dareon where great leaders and even better men. They showed honor and respect and had it not been for their councilors whispering in their ears they could of created a golden age for Westeros.
Compare that to Robert the whoremonger it is no wonder Westeros got screwed
@@gerardjagroo aerys 1 or 2nd? Neither were particularly fancy
@@gerardjagroo the first was useless at handling Dagon Greyjoy. + Bloodraven wasn't a good bloke.
And also Aerys came just two monarchs after daeron II so It made sense to reference him.
True, although I feel Daemon being upset he was sometimes called a Bastard and couldn't marry his half sister is a pretty messed up excuse to plan a coup that would engulf the realm in Civil War.
I don't hate the Blackfyres, and I see Daemon being upset at the arrest makes sense but, given what Daeron knew, I'd have apprehended Daemon as well.
@@thalmoragent9344 Daemon only rebelled 7 years after Daenerys married Maron Martell, and he had a lot of sons and at least two daughters with his wife. He clearly loved Daenerys when he was young, but i believe he moved on and learned to love his new wife

You forgot Lepanto.
A great battle is a terrible thing but in the midst of blood and carnage, there is sometimes also beauty, beauty that could break your heart.

@@bilicadnan I'm glad things in the end turned out well for him, marrying Lady Rohane etc. Now if only Dunk and Egg can catch Ser Bennis the Brown on their adventures! I really hope GRRM has that happen, especially with Egg in his whole Targaryen, princely clothing, just so Bennis craps his pants realizing he had been harassing a son of the dragon. That would be o so sweet!
@@vanivanov9571 It's totally believable. The power of the longbow is insane
The world of Ice and Fire works so well with your channel since they're just so much in depth backstories that lead to where the TV series is now. It reads more like something historical than something purely fantasy like LOTR or other massively popular fantasy novels.
Really hope you guys drop more of these videos for us randomly throughout the upcoming years. Looooving the couple we've gotten so far.

@@KingsandGenerals battle of Last Alliance would be amazing
History never was boring at all, it's so interesting. Maybe in years later there be many writers will follow his examples.
Well, George R.R. Martin took lots of inspiration from medieval european history. The ''War of the 5 Kings'' is inspired by the ''War of the Roses'',the Targaryen conquest by the Norman conquest of Britain, the ''Red Wedding'' is inspired from an event called ''The Black Dinner'',the various Houses/factions are modelled after historical factions etc. etc. He just added some Zombies,Ice Demons and Dragons to it.
the most powerful and amazing thing about us humans, is our imagination .
Agreed! Curiosity and imagination are moving us forward!
I strongly recommend all of you to watch or read graphic novel of Sworn Sword which id second part of Tales of Dunk and Egg.

@@vanivanov9571 Most knights would have armour covering most of their body but prefer a visor or a half helm for the eyes so as to not limit their sight, and in effect their mobility. This leaves the eyes vulnerable to a well-timed blow. Which is why most would survive since the blows or arrows weren't fatal but lose their eyes

6:09 that southwest corner of Westeros that contains oldtown is depicted as part of Dorne or at least as not part of the Targaryen realm which is inaccurate. Oldtown was a trade center of Westeros before and during Targaryen reign. The seat of the Faith of the Seven was there before the Great Sept of Baelor's Construction which is why Aegon the First was crowned in Oldtown. It was originally even thought that Aegon would simply make his capital there.
Yeah Oldtown is part of the Reach, it's not even in Dorne.
Aegon was coronated here.
@@pmbartoli919 his second coronation took place there
That's so true 5:20
Reminds me of 'the history of china podcast', the han dynasty parts. Too kind to your household and they'll seek to supplant you, chipping away at your legitimacy before the final blow. Too cruel and they'll be cornered into rebelling, willing to throw the entire empire into chaos to save themselves.
There's a famous quote attributed to the pure emperors of China. "The emperor is kind, but weak."
As my father always said to me: "Zuckerbrot und Peitsche". Best way to treat with people I'd say...
@@Welkubacca Pretty much is one of the main concepts of Legalism (han fei's theory of punishment and reward), which was how the Chinese state operated but with the PR facade of Confucianism, which sometimes softened the severity of Legalism. Which stresses that only the emperor can have the absolute power to reward and to punish as the charioteer directing the state.
@@martytu20 I still wonder the intent of Machiavelli
1) Genuine attempt to gain meaningful employment from the Medicis
2) A realpolitik discourse of how to balance the needs of the people (emphasises the support of the people and benevolence), in upholding the peace whilst sating the victorious family from treading the path to total totalitarianism.
3) Or it was an attempt to educate the public about the excess cruelty of the ruling family and to provide a means for them to dig their own graves (if they followed it to the letter).
So basically as an emperor, you have to be harsh but fair
@@explosivereactionstv7414 Ideally, yes. Something I think worth mentioning is the Han dynasty emperors tended to die short and 'abruptly' for no good reason, regardless of whether they were mainly seen as good or bad after they passed away.
You can imagine that tends to foster quite a bit of paranoia for Han emperors in general.
Another example is sparing a prince that nearly became emperor. If you kill him, that would spark a rebellion and princes retreating to their base of power. If you leave him be, he will plot to overthrow you not once or twice. Both from memory has happened.
What the Tokugawa Shogunate did was make it mandatory for his daimyo to have his family live in the defacto capital of Edo, whilst the respective lords spent most of their time governing their domains.
I for one find it curious that Leo Tyrell sided with Daeron, considering that the Tyrells and the Martells have bad blood and that the king seemed to be highly influenced by the Dornish. One would have expected him to join the Blackfyres. I suppose loyalty to the Targaryens is one thing that the Tyrells owed.
They probably just went with what they thought was the wining hand.
well the Tyrells owed their existence to the Targs
Politics doesn't happen that way.
The Tyrells only won a couple of small battles and “didn’t make it in time for the battle of the red grass field” maybe stalling to see who won 🤔
@@andrewwavington9025 Doubt it would have mattered. Leo could’ve capitalized off the crown forces there losing actually as that meant he could smash whatever was left of Daemon’s host.
Prince Maron never knelt to Daeron II, something which the lords of Westeros did not like. Dorne alone of the kingdoms joined without submitting. They merely allowed themselves to take part in the affairs of other kingdoms now.
Cocksuckers.
Maron did kneel before the Iron Throne, though. The Dornish submitted, but because they had resisted the 2 Targaryen invasions, they were allowed far more concessions than the other Great Houses of conquered kingdoms.
yes. Dorne married into the Seven Kingdoms- “Unbowed Unbent Unbroken”

1 small correction about the map. It shows Oldtown and the surrounding lands as being part of Dorne but they are part of the Reach and under Targaryan rule since the end of Aegons conquest
the battle of the Red Fork or the (Fish Feed) as called by those that participated is one of my favorite battles out the Dance of Dragons Era.

I dislike Bloodraven. It seems Aegon V did too when he booted his ass to the wall.
