Which ones did you get? I have the older and cheaper, previous gen RV55 set. Wanted to see what carbon wheels and rim depths was all about and didnt want to put big money down on a set twice as expensive.
Ridden mine for around a year then had my LBS do an inspection on top of a bike service. The wheels were perfectly fine although they couldnt comment on the quality of bearings used. Other then that, they spin true despite all the potholes ive crashed through.

@@MrMattie725 I just had the exact same ones arrive. Can confirm they're ridiculously light, look quite good and seem well made. Wish they'd do a higher tier finish (other brands have super luxury looking raw carbon/glossy finishes) but they seem good to me so far :)

How do you know brake rub is not due to flex from being such a thin disc with no spokes?

    Opinion on this theoretical combo?
Front 50-55 mm deep, ~21 mm internal ~28 mm external at the rim. Bulging profile like scope artech, clx2, meaning that with the right tire, the cross section of the tire and rim looks like an ellipse. Ideally run with 25~26mm tire.
Rear 60-70 mm deep, ~24 mm internal, 33-35 mm external. Same general profile.

The semi lenticular shape being better makes sense, we dont want air to "crash" into the round hub/freehub. a smooth transition creates less turbulence i.e. form drag. the drive side has the cassette... unles you are running a track bike, either way in needs some space for that and a gap for air to funnel helps re-attach the air to the wheel (i.e. less turbulent dissipation)
as for the tires.. i understand the choice for comfort for dialing in tt position, though for TT speed i'd switch and go for a 100% match (or smaller tire) between rimbrake surface and tire.. if the tire is wider then the rim it will have stall angle at less yaw angle.. the air will have difficulty to re-attach to the disc wheel undermining it's entire benefit

Can anyone explain what the point of a hollow wheel (removing the foam core) is? Losing all that structural reinforcement you either end up with a flexy wheel like this one, or else heavier with all the extra carbon, or compromise the shape.
And not having a velcro cover is giving 1997 zipp vibes.

It would be interesting to have the resources to research on actual disc wheel models... that research shows flat disc produce more drag. however, zipp came a few days ago with a new disc and just made it wider as parcours did a while ago and both still flat on both sides.

I have this same diac from aliexepress. If you sont want logos then you can save a few hundred bucks additional.
Also i had a textured brake surface applied and for a rim brake, its not too bad. Its not fisc brake by any means but with campy red pads and the groves surface its respectable.

personally speaking, I'd just run 28R/25F tire combo on that bike (especially considering it's a TT bike). I wouldn't dik around with clearances that are THAT tight; any tire rub and you're past the point of diminishing returns.
that being said, I totally get why you'd want to go fatter, I run 30's on my road bike and don't see a single reason to go narrower.
btw, that is a nice wheel, especially for that very fair price.

    • @PeakTorque

Only had the 30mm back tyre for comfort/longer training rides on the bike. Best way to hone the position. That said, there would be no penalty running the 30 vs a 28 rear in terms of Crr.
