    Very nice tutorial. Really like this kind of designs and the way you explain the process is very good.
    I do lettering design videos for my channel and I'm thinking to include similar illustrations like this one combined with the letterings so this was very useful for me! Thanks! 🙂

      I don’t think it will match very good with a script font cause there will be too much information, it will be too complicated. Maybe if you put it above or below, but maybe not as a background (?)

    • @angelo_knf
      @angelo_knf 6 років тому

      Stany Ben I see your point. Maybe you are correct. It depends on the depth of the detail in both illustration and text.

    This is actually a very complex and difficult illustration to make accurately. The methods and tools shown and used, provided by Illustrator, are simple. It is the drawing, shaping, and coloring itself creating massive difficulties. Difficulties are caused by perspective and lighting. Incorrect angles will lead to the base-pyramid being flat and not a rounded or 3d diamond shape. The reflection/shadows on the icicles require justification, as the two light sources illuminate the scene from the center. Determine where you want your horizon line to be place, before the creating the front of the floating island. Every shadow/light from the Igloo itself (doorway, bush) can easily go astray and make the image unintentionally flat.
    By far the most difficult, and unfortunately, most noticeable problem people replicating this image will encounter is the creation of the igloo brick lines and keeping them in perspective. Your centerpiece is, of course, the igloo. Incorrect lines to create your ice blocks will result in an igloo looking like 'not an igloo.'
    I say all of this having replicating/duplicating, and then editing, and then remaking, this exact image, many many many times. This video is great for learning some of the intermediate ai functions (and how they interact), but do not forget your perspective and lighting.

    Rookie question here so don't fry me- I'm looking to start using Adobe Illustrator on my macbook pro, but should I be using a tablet and pencil along with it? If so, how do you hook up the tablet to the laptop? And any recommendations for an entry level set up? I've got a decent background in photoshop but AI seems like a completely different beast.

    Excellent videos, excellent quality, and extremely helpful information. I am brand new, and ignorant to many techniques. I found myself on multiple occasions wondering why you didn't use the pen tool and then Path > Outline Stoke as opposed to creating shapes then dividing and removing the extra. (Like on the bricks for the igloo when you used ovals. Is this to maintain perfect symmetry?
    Thanks for any help!

    hi there, when using divide for the diamond shape, white lines or dots appear between the now separated parts of the diamond. I turned off the anti-aliased artwork setting from preferences and the dots do really disappear in illustrator but the rest of the shapes appear pixelated. Also, when exported as png whether I turned the above mention setting off or not, the white dots still appear. Could you please recommend something?
