It's great for the stuff that aren't fundamentals, but it drives me nuts sometimes, too. Making new documents, opening panels, and locking layers are such basic fundamentals that he shouldn't have to cover that ground again. (Still a good tutorial, some great techniques here!)
This is one of my first step by step tutorials where i did the same thing as the author of this video. With lots of pauses on the video I finished it in about 2 hours. 2 months later i tried to do the same step by step and it got me 20 minutes. If you set your mind to something you can do it with ease. Great tutorials man

Hey amazing tutorial - but there was something you missed in explanation You did not explain why you used Pathfinder "Merge" and not "Unite" Merge : removes all overlapping areas and only combines shapes with the same fill Not Unite : Because when you expand the brush it creates a square path around each object so if you use unite you merge all shapes making everything visually the same, regardless of their current fill color means instead of those smooth cloud you might see a pixel shaped cloud made from squares I Know most of them knew but those who have just started learning illustrator this would let them know the why and not just the what and how.^_^
This is so hard to follow if you are a noob and have different menus/options. Gotta search a lot for some buttons, but the explanation itself was perfect. thanks
