- The 1950's was a time of innovation and new inventions and we see this in the new kitchens of the 50s. Color, convenience and captivating designs!

That's what I am trying to make my kitchen look like the 1950's
I love the colors of the 50's kitchen 🥰 especially the turquoise and pink 🥰
I love it too! I think they said, "Well we survived a war, I want everything bright and happy!" Thanks for watching and commenting.
It would be a yellow kitchen for me!
To me it seems the our 50's kitchens was more functional than today's kitchens. I remember our 50's kitchen and I loved the colorful cabinets, the huge fridge and plenty of counter top space. These days I work in a brown, disfunctional kitchen I wish every day I could change it, but it's not my house... What I miss the most in my today kitchen is the oven with the warming cabinets. I still have a ton of pyrex dishes people tell me " they're worth a fortune". You'll have to pry my pyrex out of my dead, cold hands...
In the futuristic kitchen designs in the 50s they had adjustable counter tops. I would LOVE that. I hate chopping up stuff because I have to lean over, I need the cutting bench to be higher. That just makes sense. We are not all one size.
I'm with you on dreaming for a better kitchen. I wish for you a beautiful, functional kitchen one day to keep those precious Pyrex dishes in. Sounds like you have 70s brown, that is just the worst! Thanks so much for watching.
I was around in the fifties and I really miss color! Everything was more colorful-kitchens, houses, cars... It felt more joyful. Now everything is neutral-kitchens, houses, cars... It feels depressing.
It screams conformity and it is depressing!
I totally agree! Here in Australia, when buying a new car, it is a lot more expensive to have a color other than white. So it's all white cars everywhere. It's very sad.
And when you check out the You Tube interior designers, they are all promoting BEIGE, BEIGE, BEIGE. Prior to that they promoted gray. You see they have no idea of how to decorate so they figure if you pick a neutral and do everything in that colour, it would be safe, and if it's all the same colour it HAS to go with each other, right? (Wrong!).
@@LittleBitofHistory80 Awww, that IS really sad!
Love the colors! And the canisters!
Me too!! Thanks for watching.
I love the colors of the 50s kitchen and the Fridgidair Flair stove
I love the 50's kitchens!! I love the old style of Formica and chrome. The *diner* dining set is SO me!! The aesthetic of it is just homey and kind of elegant at the same time. I'm going to be renting eventually, and I plan on getting some "removable wall paper" and magnetic dishwasher and refrigerator covers, so I can make my own 50's kitchen, and still be "renter friendly".
My house was built in 1949 and I’ve been slowly bringing it back to the colors of the fifties. My kitchen has yellow walls with a turquoise tile backsplash! I do have white cupboards and appliances but have been on the lookout for a pink or turquoise stove! 😀
This sounds lovely. Turquoise and yellow is so friendly! Good luck with the stove hunt. I know Smeg does color, but it is sooo expensive.
Türklerin rengi turkuaz🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
Also wish I could pick out one of those colorful bathrooms!
Yes! When the toilet and basin came in a range of colors! My house had a pink bathroom basin (I assume put in in the 50s) but it got too old and had to be replaced.
thank you for an interesting and informative video - i still have my mother's pastel Tupperware from the early 60's and although the lids have slightly discoloured they still work hard for a living - every day! (south africa)
Lovely! Thank you so much for watching and commenting, glad you enjoyed it.
Love!! I go for cheerful yellow!
What I liked about the '50s kitchen was the fact that everything was built to last years. Unlike todays appliances that are built to last only 5 to 7 years while costing 4 times as much. I thought price gauging was against the law.
And I hate the look of stainless steel appliances. A whole room of them makes me feel like I'm in the kitchen of a MacDonald's restaurant.
I agree. If something lasts even 5 years these days that is pretty good, and like you say, it all just keeps going up in price.
Turquoise and black, thanks for the video...
Love it! Thanks for watching.
I am now a senior so this is 'second time 'round' for me. I like the COLOURS of the kitchen. That meant walls, cupboards, countertops, and kitchen table. They don't have to match. In real life, women picked a colour scheme.....maybe 2 or even three colours that went together well. Combining colours made the kitchen uniquely yours. I am old fashioned in that I want my kitchen to have its own look....NOT like a part of the living room. I don't make cakes in my living room. I like the vibrancy of vinyl flooring. It is a perfect material for kitchens and because it has fallen out of popularity there is not much available that is interesting. The sky is the limit for pattern and colour with this material. Maybe the next generation will catch on to it. And for those who snub their nose at vinyl flooring....What do you think your 'luxury vinyl plank flooring' is made out of???
Haha, I love this. Thanks so much for watching and for this great comment!
I love everything about the fifties. I would love to live in the fifties but with all of todays medical advancements.
That would be nice. Thanks so much for watching.
