  • Lawson 100 Store is a convenience store in Japan that offers things at a low price of ¥100. Some of their products cost a little more, but I decided to get some of their cheapest items to waffle.

Thank you, Shinichi for some great ideas for using the waffle maker! I was amazed at Satoshi’s recent okonomiyaki making in the waffle maker, but using it for gyoza and dried squid, was brilliant. Will definitely try something similar with my grandkids. Love from Australia

I love it when you do videos that are fun for you and allow you to relax a bit, Shinichi. This one was interesting! All the waffled food looked yummy except the udon which looked bland, as you said. Yeah sure--I'd waffle anything if I had a waffle maker. 😄

Chill videos like this are great to have on in the background while I'm prepping food. The dried squid/cuttlefish seems like a great idea and mochi (moffles) are delicious so I bet the dango were also so much better post-waffling

You should try some of the Japanese sandwiches in the waffle maker! It sounds like it would be delicious 🤤

Fun episode Shinichi. The pizza looked the best to me, and the egg was a fun choice.😊

Looks like fun!! I was wondering if you were going to put the coleslaw or potato salad with the udon... I would definitely try lots of foods in a waffle iron...IF I had one😅

Happy New Year! Its been awhile since I left a comment, but saw this and had to tell you that I love these type of videos. It made me think of a game we played at Christmas called "Will it Float?" Similar concept. Lol

What a fun experiment! :D This reminds me of the video with the takoyaki maker where you cooked various things with it :D the dried squid looks amazing (must have smelled amazing too - i used to reheat dried seasoned squid). For the udon, i think it would be interesting to crack an egg with the udon along with random topics, seasoned with a sauce (it would become some random savory noodle pancakes but hey, if it tastes good, why not!). Love to see these kinds of videos again!

What happened to the potato salad? I was thinking that's not going to work out very well, just mushy and wet. I think the best things to waffle are bready, that can crisp like a real waffle. Maybe one video can be waffling different omiyage snacks like Tokyo Banana.

Everything gets better after frying it this way, Shinichi-san. I could have told you that... Did you ever try "Croque-monsieur"? A sandwich with made with two equal slices of bread, duely buttered at both sides, with inside a slice of (good) cheese and some ham. You should put in an other shape of mould in your iron though. I suppose it came with several different moulds? Take the one that has sort of shell shapes in it. It makes great croque-monsieurs.

You should try an onigiri. Because I heard a waffle maker makes good scorched rice. But do it without the seaweed.

thinking I might haul out my waffle maker and try some stuff. Am wondering how takoyaki would be since it's already pretty doughy in the center when you get it.. Here in the US I'd probably try like pizza rolls, hot pockets, maybe some bao since I've seen those baked before.

hmm , i never let it heat up before putting something in , the smoke coming from that metal might be toxic .
(the sound coming from the waffle machine is the stretching of the metal's air pockets)(they are so small you cannot see them) , they expand and contract again when cooled down.
when reaching the heat that the machine needs , the waffle machine will turn itself off 2 keep that heat at the same lvl , which cools it down a bit and so the air pocket *pops* making the sound.)
what i do is i just put the thing i want in , close it , and then plug it in.
i never ever used anything like a grease or oil, most of them are non stick anyways.
i also never seen a tosty iron or waffle machine , without a clip 2 hold it shut.
normally the papers of the machine will tell you 2 always turn it off when not in use.
u could use oil if you think u need more surface area 2 touch the food for more evenly heat distribution.
