I learnt my lesson in a previous life when i sold a cow for some magic beans😂😂
I hate when they call any silver in any form "junk". Plastic bottles that can't even be recycled are junk. Silver is always a treasure.
'Junk silver' refers to coins whose numismatic value is insignificant. When a worn Roosevelt dime contains well over twenty times its face value in metal, that reclamation value far exceeds any numismatic value that coin would ever have on the market.
I refer to it as c Constitutional or 90%. For lack of better english " It ain't junk "
@@rickadams9 The Constitution specified that the United States Dollar would be equivalent to the Spanish Dollar and it was.
The Spanish Dollar was .8924 silver.
Section 9 of the Mint Act (U.S.) of 1792 reinforced use of the .8924 alloy with the following specification:
_...Dollars or the same is now current, and to contain three hundred and seventy-one grains and four sixteenth parts of a grain of pure, or four hundred and sixteen grains of standard silver.._
Do the math, that's .8924.
The silver (and gold) content of U.S. coinage was not rounded up to .90 / .10 until the Mint Act of 1837.
Its "Junk" because you are most likely paying for an underweight coin by face value not weight.
@@Justin-pt2dq Not the origin of the term.
It is (and has been for many decades) a term used by dealers for 90% silver coins whose reclaimed metal value exceeds any numismatic value.
I learned my lesson on grab-bags as a kid in the 80s when I paid 75 cents and ended up with 2 books of bi-centennial matches. 😂
It's a mystery why people buy those packs.
Loved his comment about giving that/those coins to the kids. Great attitude to have. Kudos to him.
I sold mystery bags on eBay and I was totally fair. I'm Canadian and sold $50 and $100 bags. Both bags had at least $50 or $100 in them. That's retail. How did I make money? I didn't pay retail. Easy.
Keith's honesty made that extra brutal. You're better off buying a grab bag from a coin dealer than buying them on eBay. Thanks for buying these so others don't have to, Seeker!
I used to visit a coin shop that had a big box of foreign coins for 50 cents each. Liked finding 1 & 2 euro coins there.
I agree with Keith across the board on this one. The mystery packs are overpriced novelties. Of course, you already knew that. The bright side is, you got two good videos out of it. I enjoy seeing channels from our community get together like this. Seek on!! 👊✌️
On the bright side, I'm sure you got some entertainment by not knowing what was going to be inside. Then you passed that entertainment to the rest of us with a few good videos for us to watch!
"JUNK SILVER" IS AN OXYMORON!! It's "Coin Silver"....always has been....always WILL BE!!
During the video, I did my own calculations of what I would be likely to sell these coins for myself. My figure turned out to be $9.30, which was less than the $11.25 that the dealer said he'd retail them for. Online mystery packs are generally a bad deal
Enjoy all you topics! Great stuff!!
These are like the discount version of buying vault coins 😂
Hey i found that exact same british penny metal detecting in a park in montana last year. Wasnt expexting one of those. Hahha
I never bought a mystery pack. I look at it this way. If I can’t see what I’m buying, I’m not buying it
If I can't try the shoes on for size, if I can't walk around in them there gonna be on the shelf for a long time/ J.C. Penny... 🤔
Great job, Silver Seeker & Keith from Coin Crew!
I liked the dealer you had on. 👍
Well, I going to stick to things I’m more comfortable with.
Thanks guys for helping us to be mindful of various offers that we might regret ever buying. 👍🏽
those are nice vinyl coin flips in that bag!
I grab coins from a coin machine that people use often and I always find all kinds of world coins. I think it’s really cool to see them but I might carry them around to give away or maybe exchange for small items if I can
Silver Seeker and Just A Guy aka Coin Crew, great video 👍👍
I just watched a video where the dude bought a silver Libertad for only $32!
As a coin dealer, has Keith ever sold mystery packs, and has he ever stuck in a really nice value coin, that made the pack actually worth MORE than what he is selling it for, just to give a few customers the chance at actually coming out on top?
I used to go to flea markets and antique store type permanent store complex thing we had...if I saw something for 30 bucks, I'd expect maybe 15-20 bucks book value worth of stuff inside. I'd think that's about what you'd expect, and it would be a lot of novelty junk. I'm writing this now before I see the end of this. Yeah, you can't really expect any of these to be banger grab bags, that's just not what...does anyone expect that? Like a pack of trading cards?
Portsmouth coin do pretty desent mystery packs. It's not stuff I would pick out some damaged and cleaned some stuff they prolly have a harder time selling but you get your value. Coin shops are the best place to buy these as they have plenty of their harder to sell items they will give you your value it's just not always what people will choose. These online scammers making their living off these gotta sell u a lil for alot to make their money.
@@mattmatt6572"prolly" ? Are you drinkin again Matt?
Ask him, or shut up!
Hmmm chill out nothing I said was even remotely controversial.
Wow I like this video silver seeker. This is a great educational video. Thank you for sharing.
Coin crew Keith is awesome! Great video! 🎉
Glad to see you and Keith
Lord Have Mercy!
These videos are fun to watch
Thanks for sharing 😊
Pig in a poke. Dat ain't no pig, it's a bull frog. Mama gonna be mad.
Sounds like Silver Bean Counter! That's The Bean!
Hey are you ever going to release the hidden audio footage from that video a few weeks ago?
This was better than some bags, they did actually include silver
Basically subsidized. 😂 i love that
@11:32 a mystery pack should at least contain an item/items that do in fact total the price of the mystery pack. The point to the mystery should be what is inside NOT am I being robbed wow gang
Nothing is in the description
Oops! UA-cam.com/coincrew
I thought the nickel was just a sticker on it. I have a dollar with Santa, another dollar with coin guy on it, and several Kennedy half dollars with other people on them they are all just stickers. I know there was some colorized American eagles in 2000.
Ummm, ebay fees are 15% for smaller sellers and they charge that commission on the shipping and sales tax collected too.
What days are your coin show?
I like that nickel and I love finding gold plated junk silver.
I liked this video do this more often I wish I had the sponsor ship to do that as a Canadian perspective and buy grab bags here in Canada
Hilarious! 😂
Your Dealer was right on with his suggestion. If the Seller treated you fair it could be a win/win. As it is, I wouldn't touch a Mystery Bag.
I would not trust any coin shop with my antique and vintage coinage. I would give it to real professionals.
Had a similar experience on ETSY. Bought a roll of Buffalos + a roll of Indians SUPPOSEDLY full dates for $176. Recil'd machine wrapped rolls of G-4's _ALL DATELESS. Unable to return due to being unwrapped ! Left appropriate feedback.
Off topic question ... I'm not sure if you ever addressed the upswing on copper market and what's your take on the future of this metal going foward ...I've noticed many articles posted on the web about copper and how the demand now exceeds the production demands as the world grows especially on solar energy and in electric cars even in the charging areas for them do you think this will ever become a precious metal... Tks Frank
Yea I found one coin in a tube of twenty, silver plated, worth about $17 on eBay but no LCS in MN would even take it only doing this 4 yrs since retirement but enjoy you're vids🎉😂❤ we learn as we stack 🥈💰🩵
So I happened to live close by Keith's store stopped there. When I found out about it. On one of your videos. Nice place. I bought an ounce of silver and 1/2, a dozen 90% dimes this has been several months ago. He was charging 27 times face. On the 90%.
People don't understand certain thing's!!! It's cheaper to recycle than to dig for Iron Ores. Think about the fuel & energy cost's versus drilling & Extraction cost's. How many life's are lost because large corporations care more about their profit margins than they care a about a human life... 🤔
What does that have to do with this video...
I believe it would be appropriate for you to tell who you bought this item from. It would help keep other people from getting ripped off by this eBay seller.
Point is to show not to buy them at all
In Minnesota, the Minneapolis area coin shops are only willing to pay between $2-$2.30 for 40% halves. I need to check out other states. SMH.
I've heard it's because refiners don't like them or war nickels. Too little silver for the effort.
I believe refining efficiency will increase over time(if they don't, I will!). I got mine when they were $3.15 a piece. I have zero desire to sell anything at this time. I'm waiting til after the next mass melting. In any case, I only bought a few tubes. Variety is very important to me.
@Handle_number_7 Yeah, I agree with you. I started stacking in 2013. Selling isn't my goal. I like calling shops to help get a better understanding of what things are selling for and what they will purchase coins and rounds for. Variety has been very important to me as well. I still have alot to learn after 11 years.
I don't have many 40% halves or 35% war nickles, but I will pick them up if the deal is good enough.
Sometimes shops or individuals can't really move them, so I can get them under melt.
In that case, I will take small amounts of them, but I'm not going to seek them out & I'm certainly not going to pay up for them.
Fun episode, and very informative. I just don't understand why that one coin was worth nothing. What did I miss?
There are few collectors of common 20th Century British Half Pennies in the U.S., which is his market.
Better to give to a kid who may gain inspiration from it to learn about other nations, times... .
On the other hand, decades ago I cut out the field areas of several of those with a jeweler's saw to make cut out coin pendants.
The old Ha'penny with that ship looked great as such.
@-oiiio-3993 let me guess...you sold the pendants for half of an half penny, but made money on the pins and chains
❤ informative
I used to sell some mystery deals on ebay and did well multiple repeat buyers all positive feedback but I also made them well 10 silver total 2 were either morgan peace or ase 2 half dollar franklin barber or Kennedy 2 quarters and 4 dimes and i usually threw in an extra 40% or a foreign silver then I had 1800s cents and some other stuff to throw in I believe it was $100
Never buy anything like this. Great for sharing
Am I having déjà vu or have you already made one of these videos before?😃👍
With a different pack yes
You're a good sport!
Coin crew lets gooo. Always a good time with cc and ss
Will either of you be at the FUN show in July?
Ebay charges 13.5% without promoting or other addition but totally agree that was not worth $30
Unless.you have an ebay store they have lower fees there but still
I buy stuff I like from the US mint and only 2 other highly reputable dealers who will also buy back from me when I want to sell.
I would like to see a video on coins that are worth more money and a good buy.
Not good enough for anyone!! Dang it 😅😅😅🎉 Bummer..
I dnt see the link to his channel ?
Why would anyone buy a mystery pack, except for doing videos like this? Do people honestly think that sellers are going to lose money and constantly sell these packs??
I always think mystery packs are coins that dealers otherwise cannot sell, meaning they're going to be coins that I likely don't care one bit for and will have a tough time finding other people who want them, the value in the coins thus needs to be greater than what I pay, otherwise why would I ever want them?
They gave you a 2006 penny?! Mystery solved.
The packaging is worth more.
At an antique store saw a circulated war cent set around $20.00. It was in a holder but $20.00??
Got two videos out of this one.
Hope you got the views!
And write it off lol.
Wow wow that’s all wow
Probably from a place called estate sales or estate something
mystery packs .....lol
You're buying into the mystery not the contents. Seller should state this for this type of mystery bag so there isnt any confusion.
Hope you went onto eBay & gave relative feedback, to the seller's site, so those who don't watch channels like yours, can understand how bad these packs are, Seeker.
2 kinds of business one who has or is creating a reputation & one who doesn't care or know how to do it.
I like to see what my money buys! Don't get scammed!! Have Fun Seeker!
Depends where your at ,to me that 1/2 penny is cool I hope it is cooper.
Bronzes after 1860. They worth at most a quid.
Hey Keith...😎👍
Every coin is a "world coin".
I just got my Mint subscription for burnished Eagles. I couldn't believe the premium. $76 each.
Trying to keep my sets complete for my grandkids.
I got mine this week, I cut my subscription down to 1 from 2. They’re to over priced got the one for the collection.
I tried an Evidence Bag last month from Choppers show on TV.
I was surprised and happy to find significant silver coins and even a one gram gold bar. Cost was $129 + shipping. Conservatively, I figured I received $150 plus +++.
Seeker, I'd like to see what you think of his bags. Would make a good video.
Keep up the good work for us stickers and collectors.
Link to his channel?
Nope…I’ll continue to do my grab bag swaps on Discord! 😮
fun video
Digital silver in a digital age, litecoin is a digital precious metal, not a security. Litecoin is the oldest coin on the market after bitcoin, since its inception in 2011. Scarcity of litecoin is the key feature of its technology. Everyone tends to flock to digital silver and digital gold, litecoin and bitcoin, when things aren't going well. Litecoin is a decentralized digital commodity, just like bitcoin, but not even close so heavily concentrated in a few hands like bitcoin is. Both have Proof-of-Work consensus, and both have limited supply of coins. Only that litecoin is lighter, swifter, and hugely undervalued against bitcoin. Litecoin (LTC) being a digital commodity provides a decent inflation hedge as well because there will be mined only a limited number of 84 million litecoins in total.
Fair Enough
just so most of you get it,CONSTITUTIONAL MONEY IS MONEY,SILVER IS MONEY,GOLD IS REAL MONEY,ANY FORM,ANY WEIGHT,i've been buying silver coins since 1972,all constitutional money,1 cause i was a kid then and couldn't get enough coins as a kid 2 cause i like the sound of it,in your hand, beat paper dollars which burn,3 i've bought over 300 lbs of it since 1972 and do not sell,no way, plus its already weighed by the government for value, buy em,don't pay any attention to so called experts, just get the weight up
Literally only one seller that dies these has been decent, lucky duck coins. Not an ad just my experience
Good video, the nickel the penny's the quarter are worthless. More time was wasted packing them into individual holders than their value.
👍
I dont agree. Color doesnt add to the beauty of a coin
Neva Eva invest in a mystery. That’s called a fools bet. You’re trusting a salesman with your money.
You just got got or gypped as the old saying goes !!!
Here in the UK there is a collector's market for pre-decimal currency. Someone might pay something for that half penny. Not much though. It may have copper value. I believe half and full pennies had some copper in them. You might get a dollar for it but you probably have to export it.
It is finding a buyer that is the problem. You could be waiting weeks, months, years.
Pennies, Ha'pennies, Farthings were Bronze during that era.
@@-oiiio-3993 I found that out after posting this comment. Thanks for the correction though.
@@-oiiio-3993A major component of bronze is copper.
@@-oiiio-3993On a side note a guy I know does CNC. Milling, we took some of the millings. And melted them down and were surprised to discover silica. Sand in the slag looked into it to find out that cheap bronze included silica.
@@mudfun3703 _"A major component of bronze is copper."_
You don't say.
U.S. Cents of mid 1864 through mid 1982 (with exception of 1943) were a bronze alloy of 95 % copper. Before 1962 the remaining 5% was 'tin and zinc', during 1962 the tin was eliminated leaving .95 copper, .05 zinc.
Half Penny is copper? what if you had a hundred ??.....Still 0 ?
Mercs are absolutely worth more than Rosies. They're way more liquid.
Not in that shape... I can buy mercs right now in circ condition for the same as rosies.
Mystery pack… great way to get rid of coins nobody wants at premium prices!
I'd say twenty nice thirty way over
Poor guy, if you want to get you moneys worth let me know ill treat you right😊
