  • This RadioShack handheld scanner does everything a scanner app on your phone does, but it doesn't need WiFi or data and it takes AA batteries.

My grampa had this exact model scanner beside his bed from the early 2000’s up until he passed in 2021. I have it now and it still works great.

Good content! No deep explanation needed. It's good to see others using this old tech, especially Radio Shack. I have an old pro 46, 2021, two 2006's and a 2052. I only receive analog. Swing by and watch my channel for routine traffic. Plenty to listen to from 27mhz up through 468mhz. Of course, that particular model doesn't receive 1.25m.

Weather from KWO35. And the mention on the box of police "in small towns" was intentional -- by the time this was made, police in cities had largely moved to the 900 MHz band, which this scanner doesn't cover.

I recall Walmart selling something similar to this back when I worked there around late 2018 or early 2019. It's one of those Whistler branded units (same brand that brings us fun things like radar detectors and stuff to that effect).
It seems to pick up police radio in the Omaha Nebraska area fine enough, though the one I have is quite a bit newer than the one shown here.

Thanks for noticing! It's surprising how usable good quality SD analog video can be, especially if deinterlaced to 60p.

My dad has this one up until he passed. None of the buttons on front face work anymore.

Live in Norway, whole Public Safety Network are trunked with Motorola TETRA, nationwide coverage since 2015.
Also interesting tidbit both the Norwegian and Swedish TETRA networks have been interconnected in the event if a car chase crosses the border to sweden (Open borders here) or the otherway and something similar.
Only thing that I can pick up is PMR446, ATC and Public Transport though some channels are trunked.
Analogue is great since you can listen in but with the TETRA network, police can relay ID info for a person, or other sensitive info to dispatch if needed which is would be a big no no with analogue radios.
