I was thinking all week about what this game reminded me of, and Halo: Reach Firefight mode was exactly it. I remember the first time I played that mode thinking "Man, an entire game like this would be awesome."
Games like this are essentially the evolution of early horde modes. Take an infinite supply of enemies and add dynamic objectives. If Microsoft wasn’t so afraid of taking risks with halo they could have made an odst game based on different conflicts with the covenant on dynamic maps. They have all the gameplay elements essentially ready with the odst game they already made including the firefight mode that laid the ground work for something like this.
what I've noticed is that each stratagem has a pattern to it! some are easier than others but usually they have a pattern that relates to what you call down! The autocannon sentry is ⬇⬆➡⬆⬅⬆ which I look as the turret doing a 'scanning motion'. The mortar sentry is just ⬇⬆➡➡⬇ which you can look at as a simple "trajectory" or a mortar being fired lol. As a Halo trilogy fan, that tweet from Kevin Schmitt is so depressing. A galaxy spanning ODST game would have been incredible and now I'm just upset we never got it
I was exactly the same I was gutted, but thinking about it they would’ve fucked it up somehow and it probably wouldn’t be half as detailed- I have a lot of trust in arrowhead, can’t say the same about bungie/343
You should consider swapping your strategem keys to the arrow keys so you can still run while you call in airstrikes. Made a HUGE difference in my gameplay
Masterchief collection was an amazing Co-op experience. And games like uncharted 3,4,world war z and earlier live service coop games were good 3rd personthing.
Tried kill bile titan on challenging solo. The sneaking around and using the fog and smoke to hide while patrols run within feet of you, sneaking up on the titan, hitting it with an orbital laser and 500KG then running like crazy to extract. It was crazy lol.
I have run into so many marines, Army, Navy, Air Force ( Yet to run into Coast Guard ) - and one guy that apparently had ranger cert when he was Army. When those guys are in charge of the group it's so fun. Marines though man. Talk about people that really embody Super Earth. " GET AGGRESSIVE FAST. GO! " Has us charge in against a battle line of Devastators to punch a hole in their defenses, call in our reinforcements on the enemy base and then set up a defensive line with turret stratagems. I had brought auto-cannon turret and mortar turret. Was great.
😆 when your teammates call reinforcement and throws you in the direction of the bugs and then you come back surrounded by the chargers and daddy long legs 😂
Gosh the sound design in this game is fantastic! I kinda hope you played it with the same group of friends everytime, like how you went through gtfo, but however you do please keep these videos coming!
They didn’t even do that; 343 mostly just wanted to create their own story for the future of Halo, 4 was a pretty big step away from the OG titles and while it really isn’t that terrible it’s definitely different. We don’t talk about 5 and Infinite is also vastly different than the originals. At this point it’s just mismanagement of the franchise. I just don’t have hope in Halo anymore, they gave us so many promises and we game them so many chances and it’s just… the same…
Helldivers reminds of the the Halo 1 and 2 days playing co-op split screen. I wanna see some co-op vehicle play like a multi-man tank or a gun ship of sorts.
They did have multi-crew vehicles in the first game, and they've said that they'll be adding them into this one. One of the first looks to be a mech with autocannons for arms.
this game is so fucking good its crazy, hell i didnt even realized i racked up 50 hours already and thats considered pretty low. the community based war table is so good and i cant wait all the future content planned too it helps so much that theres so much variety for the planets too edit: the bile titans are considered small on their home planet too
3:48 there is no home planet anymore, that was in Helldivers 1. The Termanids is 2 were all used for docile farming before they started all going aggressive again and mutated like nuts.
If you shoot the chargers(heavies) in the abdomen, you can make them slow and they will bleed out. takes usually like 6-7 autocannon shots or 5-6 railgun shots to work.
I’ve been playing this with my friends, and we’re having a blast! But when you think about it, it’s actually a really simple gameplay loop. Drop, shoot, do objective, extract and repeat. Don’t get me wrong, I freaking love the gameplay, the guns feel great, the strategems are so much fun, the moments when your buddy manages to get 20k in friendly fire are just hilarious, but when you think about it it’s all very simple. Maybe I’m just surprised no one thought about this earlier. ❤
Just did my first Difficulty 4 Duo Mission. It was pretty difficult but we had 7 revives left and only 2 outposts left. Were gonna play it a bit more before we start Difficulty 5
the eagle airstrike is a must have for higher difficulties until you get much better at the game, you can use them to wipe out outposts from a distance and the eagle reloads so that 2 uses stat is how many times you can use it before it takes 2.5 minutes to reload.
@@Nazukio the 500kg bomb is weird because it doesn't like to destroy fabricators or bug holes unless it lands directly on top of them. the regular airstrike seems to work because of the multiple small bombs having a higher chance of landing directly on target.
I may be late to this and you may not see this, but rebind your strategem keys to your arrow keys instead of WASD. It allows you to move while calling strategems in.
Tip: the auto cannon lands facing whatever direction you were facing when you dropped it, so like 27:00 in when that new BT arose you should have thrown it right at your feet facing him and it would have worked. Throwing it left made it start facing away from the BT
The idea of this game is so simple but so much fun. The big studios were busy making games around micro-transaction in the center. Nobody played it for a reason.
It would be cooler if u can run Into other squads in the same planet and u can have the option to create a platoon with them joining in coms too or not depending on ur choice. And help each other extract or do ur tasks. Then leave fireteam automatically when extracted or when mission is failed or done.
All men want is games where you and your closest friends fight an overwhelming enemy force in a war that doesn't care about us and we don't get many of those. Maybe this will make EDF more popular
Went to Hellmire on Suicide on Sunday morning. Ended up getting trapped on a mountain top nearly all round while everyone else in my squad destroyed those eggs. By some miracle, I was too high up for the biles to get me, but I was still in reach of the small flying ones, which I eventually had to fight off with melee since I ran out of ammo. Thankfully, I had plenty of Napalm strikes, and was able to resupply myself with some stratagems down below on the other side of the mountain, before making a dead sprint to extraction zone.
As a long time jankey support player im hyped to have a game where I can play an ammo loader and make our AT fire roughly 3 times faster. I should really try more games where I can properly play that role, it started as a kid learning the glitches that could make my team invincibleish in black ops zombies.
You're an ODST, deployed on the In Amber Clad. You've fought your way through the hell that was Installation 002. You've made it back to the ship, but you're not the only one. The Flood made it onto the ship, and now you're one of only a handful of survivors, fighting your way through increasingly tough hordes of enemies, trying to get to the engine bay to blow the reactors. You don't know what's going on. You signed up for a lot, but not this. You do know you might not make it out, but you don't care. You're the best of the best, and you have a job to do.

hey drewski as a tip shoot charge twice in the front leg and then finish it with primary, the two railgun shots rip off the armor and the multiplier on the armorless leg is insane.
9:45 planitry wildlife there is a game called the cycles its battle royal where you get droped in pod at the edges of the map and you have to make it to an extraction point there are also other player in there but there are no team BUT you can basically wave at another player and team up with them literally they become your team but you can then also break this team there is also wild life present on the map and the plot is that the planet get angery at us being there so the longer we stay a strom will become to come and it become more and more extream the longer we stay the wild life reacts to the strom getting more extream by also becoming more extream they basically start to evolve into more bigger and more armored versions and become more voilent there are also a diffrent types of them so it kinda fun also you get two chances meaning you can die two time and you get respawned at the pod there are resources in the map that you can mine or collect i think you get point for that which you can use to call in better gear like guns and sport gear like heavy sniper or turret or invisibilty clock or bombardment or health
Pro tip: Change your stratagem input controls! They actually don't _have_ to be the same as your movement keys. I have mine on B and arrow keys, for example. That way, I can still sprint around with Shift+WASD, while entering the codes with my right hand (Taking it off the mouse feels weird at first, but it's fine in this game, since you can't shoot anyway while in stratagem entry mode). If your mouse wheel has tilt controls (clicks to the side) and is stiff enough that it doesn't duplicate inputs, and you're enough of a madlad to learn it, you could technically put the inputs on that as well (Scroll up for up, scroll down for down, tilt left/right for left/right).
Hey Drewski! PLEASE consider doing more GTFO in the near future OR alternatively maybe uncut versions of the missions from the existing 4 videos if nothing else? Your GTFO videos are hands down absolutely THE very BEST! 😎👍🏻 Edit: With the obvious exception for the 4th mission because 10 hours at your level of quality is probably WAY too long for UA-cam.
We did this one today on Difficulty 8, and of course, the entire map was over-spored so we couldn't use the mini-map, could barely see anything and got swarmed with titans and such. It was insane, sadly didn't get to see fire tornadoes and such though
Found out you can switch fire modes on a railgun from SAFE to UNSAFE. It slaps without the safe mode on. Two hits a Charger amd Hulks just prior to overloading.
How many times do small focused passionate studios need to hand AAA studios their own asses before the industry realizes what's important? This game has a battlepass and im not even mad about it. I'll happily buy it.
If you rebind your strategem keys to arrows you can move while doing it, you don't need to have your hand on the mouse anyways while doing strategem cause you can't shoot or aim while doing it
"Chat probably has a 2000 hour Elite Dangerous veteran" Ey, what Up Drew. The space legs dlc isn't for everyone admittedly, but it's become a lot better than when it was first implemented. The gun fights take some getting used to with switching weapons to do different damage.

This is the most epic gameplay i've seen. The teamwork is superb!
I fought my first titan on Hellmire. It was quite the traumatic experience.
this game is actually sick af, just had my first game and i literally feel like im a marine from starship troopers dude :)
Tried kill bile titan on challenging solo. The sneaking around and using the fog and smoke to hide while patrols run within feet of you, sneaking up on the titan, hitting it with an orbital laser and 500KG then running like crazy to extract. It was crazy lol.
BROTHER Drewski, glad you are spreading freedom as a real patriot. We must all do our part to protect our way of life!
I love the OST. This game has so many war movie moments for me. LAST MAG!
You should see Helldivers 1’s ost
I absolutely loved the grassy misty planet... Draupnir or something I think? Remined me of Death Stranding.
I love Helldivers.
Time for yet another great Helldivers video from the man himself.
Halo is a prime example of how excessive risk-avoidance is simply choosing another slower form of decline.
I just don’t have hope in Halo anymore, they gave us so many promises and we game them so many chances and it’s just… the same…
I love sinking all my time into either playing Helldivers or watching Helldivers while working!
Will you play Star Citizen sometime?
Helldivers reminds of the the Halo 1 and 2 days playing co-op split screen. I wanna see some co-op vehicle play like a multi-man tank or a gun ship of sorts.
They did have multi-crew vehicles in the first game, and they've said that they'll be adding them into this one. One of the first looks to be a mech with autocannons for arms.
Hellmire gives me lots of Warhammer 40Ks "Armageddon" with the city Helsreach and the planet's season of fire.
this game is so fucking good its crazy, hell i didnt even realized i racked up 50 hours already and thats considered pretty low. the community based war table is so good and i cant wait all the future content planned too it helps so much that theres so much variety for the planets too
edit: the bile titans are considered small on their home planet too
4:28 great stalker reference
3:48 there is no home planet anymore, that was in Helldivers 1. The Termanids is 2 were all used for docile farming before they started all going aggressive again and mutated like nuts.
I so badly wanna play this game, but right now it looks like it's a good idea to wait for a bit longer, until they fix server issues.
Why would you want to knowingly install kernal level malware on your computer just because a cool game is attached to it?
@@DoesNotInhalebecause I'm not an autistic nerd and I like to have fun. Also, "kernal level malware"? 😂Really? Lmao
@@DoesNotInhalewomp womp
I mean I am getting in every time if you just have a little patience.
@@DoesNotInhale You have probably played dozens of games with one and never given a shit until it was made into a big deal here.
They took the concept of DOOM and said "les go then"
"this is the coolest planet i've been on"
Very poor choice of words sir.
If you shoot the chargers(heavies) in the abdomen, you can make them slow and they will bleed out. takes usually like 6-7 autocannon shots or 5-6 railgun shots to work.
I just love the little lore on my armour saying its from Hellmire.
..which headcanonically makes Hellmire my homeworld. AND ILL SEE IT LIBERATED
I think that's why people enjoy it, it's not complicated, it's just fun
Just did my first Difficulty 4 Duo Mission. It was pretty difficult but we had 7 revives left and only 2 outposts left. Were gonna play it a bit more before we start Difficulty 5
the eagle airstrike is a must have for higher difficulties until you get much better at the game, you can use them to wipe out outposts from a distance and the eagle reloads so that 2 uses stat is how many times you can use it before it takes 2.5 minutes to reload.
@@dominuslogik484 Yeah I'm using that one. I think it's even better than the 500kg.
@@Nazukio the 500kg bomb is weird because it doesn't like to destroy fabricators or bug holes unless it lands directly on top of them. the regular airstrike seems to work because of the multiple small bombs having a higher chance of landing directly on target.
@@dominuslogik484 Yeah, noticed that too. It's sad. I thought it would be awesome to play with it, but it's not really helpful.
I may be late to this and you may not see this, but rebind your strategem keys to your arrow keys instead of WASD. It allows you to move while calling strategems in.
35:30 was the chefs kiss of the support role while the homies loot the bunker
33:11 The bug spinning like tumble weed got my sides
Hey man, just wanted to suggest that you bind the stratagems keys to the arrows, that way you can keep moving while you call in support
counterpoint: wasd call-ins can be done considerably faster
@@tinysaddledchicken If you're not doing them fast to begin with it's irrelevant
Coop PVE experiences were never NOT popular, game developers just stopped making ones that weren’t complete shit lol
Please can you try a game called nuclear option its a futuristic flight sim it's very good it's in early access on steam
Against all the bugs that hell can conujure... and all the tanks the bots can produce... we will send unto them... only Drew
its actually crazy how different sometimes the same planet can look like but this is crazy, so many planets and each look different
Those titans are considered small on their home planet
“Both are correct” to epic rock music was a hell of a great intro!
certified helldiver tip: recommended protocol for descending from elevated fighting positions, is to inject a stim and dive into whatever cover is avaliable below the position, assassins-creed style
Going back and seeing all the old stuff is crazy. I wish we still sprinted that fast and I miss some of the old voice lines.
Wow. Best combo of intense fighting and stunning visuals that I've seen yet.
Wouldn't mind seeing more of this game
Such an awesome video; this is an amazing, epic game. Haven't checked out Hell yet, will do tomorrow. The graphics, gameplay mechanics, music, audio - everything's just chef's kiss! Also when you mentioned Elite Dangerous players, I felt that! o7
drew mentioned a while ago that he made his own soundtracks for his videos. Is the Doom-esk soundtrack also his work?
hey drewski as a tip shoot charge twice in the front leg and then finish it with primary, the two railgun shots rip off the armor and the multiplier on the armorless leg is insane.
A bug gave off a cartwheel at 33:10 in response to the hellbomb hahaha.
9:45 planitry wildlife
there is a game called the cycles
its battle royal where you get droped in pod at the edges of the map and you have to make it to an extraction point
there are also other player in there but there are no team BUT you can basically wave at another player and team up with them literally they become your team but you can then also break this team
there is also wild life present on the map
and the plot is that the planet get angery at us being there so the longer we stay a strom will become to come and it become more and more extream the longer we stay
the wild life reacts to the strom getting more extream by also becoming more extream
they basically start to evolve into more bigger and more armored versions and become more voilent
there are also a diffrent types of them so it kinda fun
also you get two chances meaning you can die two time and you get respawned at the pod
there are resources in the map that you can mine or collect
i think you get point for that which you can use to call in better gear like guns and sport gear like heavy sniper or turret or invisibilty clock or bombardment or health
22:18 I appreciate that "Hallo" nice
3:55 Imagine if you're in the Starcraft Universe & you're in the planet Char, that's where my mind went.
Hey Drewski! PLEASE consider doing more GTFO in the near future OR alternatively maybe uncut versions of the missions from the existing 4 videos if nothing else? Your GTFO videos are hands down absolutely THE very BEST! 😎👍🏻
Edit: With the obvious exception for the 4th mission because 10 hours at your level of quality is probably WAY too long for UA-cam.
Remember in the Anthem E3 gameplay demo when they showed the character running into a storm? I want that.
you gotta play on HELLdive difficulty in HELLmire for the ultimate HELLdivers 2 experience
We did this one today on Difficulty 8, and of course, the entire map was over-spored so we couldn't use the mini-map, could barely see anything and got swarmed with titans and such. It was insane, sadly didn't get to see fire tornadoes and such though
Helldivers is the first co-op game I’ve seen in so long that has been THIS mainstream. It’s insane
Lethal company
Found out you can switch fire modes on a railgun from SAFE to UNSAFE. It slaps without the safe mode on. Two hits a Charger amd Hulks just prior to overloading.
"Do we meed to get to cover?"
"No, we're fine!"
Great gameplay guys! A game with great potential.
How many times do small focused passionate studios need to hand AAA studios their own asses before the industry realizes what's important?
This game has a battlepass and im not even mad about it. I'll happily buy it.
If you rebind your strategem keys to arrows you can move while doing it, you don't need to have your hand on the mouse anyways while doing strategem cause you can't shoot or aim while doing it
"Chat probably has a 2000 hour Elite Dangerous veteran"
Ey, what Up Drew. The space legs dlc isn't for everyone admittedly, but it's become a lot better than when it was first implemented. The gun fights take some getting used to with switching weapons to do different damage.
