"A sound system that works" Explains why bug holes start sending scouts when running by instead of crouching...among other things. Of course those with a Swedish military background could deliver an experience like this with those crisp reloading animations, beefy gunfire sounds and being able to fire off your last round because the mag's not there! Something I don't think third person shooters do all that often or at all. Arrowheads's one Hell of a team
@@_d-- Tripped me out during bug ambushes seeing your character run without a mag in, and the old favorite, getting attacked just before you pulled the charging handle of the rifle/machine gun. They didn't miss a step with the "small" things that could go wrong aside from attacking an objective with only one round left for the Autocannon...
I wish they had asked about reloads. They seem to have a few steps to complete instead of just finishing the animation. I swear a lot of times my reload gets interrupted all I missed I was pulling back the charging handle, so it only takes a tiny animation to complete
@jewunit113 every mag fed weapon seems to have at least four distinct states to the reload animation. Remove old mag. No mag, but round in chamber. New mag, ready; And new mag (empty. Need charge). As soon as the old mag is out, even if you havent thrown it away yet, the weapon is now "emlty" unless you hsve a round in the chamber. As soon as the new mag is in, the weapon is "reloaded", but needs to be charged if run fully dry. Some weapons need to be charged on a new mag even if you had a round in the chamber. The only other game I have seen with a loading animation sequence this nuanced was SOCOM US Navy SEALs, which was developed in partnership with the US DOD.
The AI mentioned is just as amazing as Drewski describes. For example, if you call down a sentry on top of a bot Tank on the view hatch, the tank will steer off into nowhere and crash into a wall as it cannot "see". It is actually using vision for navigation
Upvote this list of takeaways and feel free to add to it, hopefully this helps some other players. 1. Bugs can see and hear, but some variants like the Stalker can "smell" you and will find you no matter what 2. Orbital Gas Strikes have a large area of effect and can be used to destroy eggs 3. They would like to add a first person drop in view for the hellpod 4. If bots scramble your strategem you can check the left hand of the screen to see what you are going to throw 5. You can toss grenades back at bots 6. The "hearing" mechanic used in the game makes sprinting much louder to the enemies as opposed to crawling or crouching 7. Explosions and gunfire attract enemies 8. If you break line of sight of bots for 4 seconds they will start to search in the area you were last seen. Great way to displace and break contact using smoke or spores
thanks for this dude but you forgot one. Its here at the first part 1:50 and the devs said, right after you land and immediately spawn your equipment, it attracts the patrols to search the area
Explains why Hunters and Stalkers follow you till the end of the map, their role in the hive actually fits with their name not just functionally but biologically as well Plus using smokes or spores against bots, bec ofc they use scanners to detect and they actually think like robots, calculations, estimations and logic etc.
8a. Bugs and bots will search around for 30 seconds and then will do the following: Bugs will spread out into a search pattern while bots will shoot at your last known location despite not actually knowing where you are. 9. Hellpod drops after the first attract patrols as mentioned by @maliketh2951 10. Certain enemies are killed more easily by shooting off a leg rather than body shots, so experiment. (Ex.: charger & chainsaw [head is best for chainsaw but it is VERY small])

The fact the CEO is playing their own game in itself is almost never done, those things are incredibly rare, but for the CEO to invite a content creator to play with them and still be willing to talk about some of their future plans for the game is absolutely amazing to me. Love the dev teams for Helldivers 2.
love how supportive these devs are of their community… the fact that they bragged about the “stratagem hero” game mode being ported into a webpage, 99.99% of developers or publishers would want to pursue legal action or take it down
Yes those devs are a real gem: "man watching u all cry, amuses me so much" "I think once the dust settles, the parts of the community that enjoyed dev interaction up to this point might be in for some disapointing times" "And I am out of here, git gud, play easierst if you want to win"
@@PicardOrion That was a single rouge developer that was immediately reprimanded for the comments he made. The CEO made comments about how his messages were unsupported by staff and that he did not represent the majority of the dev team.
As a former US Army armorer, I think I know what happened to the M240. The M240 has a compound drive spring. Multiple springs coiled up into a single spring. The tension of this spring is part of what regulates the fire rate, infantry configurations of the m240 have a lower max rate of fire than vehicle configurations and especially multi-mount configurations like in an anti-air battery. If the story hadn't ended with "and then the guide rod snapped" I would have assumed that his gun had got a vehicle or aircraft drive spring installed on a refit. Since the drive rod snapped, what I think happened is that one of the component springs of the compound drive spring failed, causing rhe coil to provide less resistance, causing the gun to briefly fire faster before the mechanical failure.
More likely his gas regulator was set to the higher rpm, wasn't cleaned and continued to foul creating a rate the spring couldn't compensate for which shatrered the rod. Especially likely if he was using BFA+blanks
As an infantry assaultman, when I first saw that you could have an A-Gunner for your rockets, missile launchers and auto cannon plus back blast actually does damage to your team and you I was kinda blown away. I personally haven't seen those mechanics be utilized in games I've played. That attention to detail really brings something special to the gameplay.

Former M240 Bravo gunner and GWOT veteran here. The reason why the M240 was shooting 1000 rpm is because the gas regulator was set to 3. Standard operating procedure for the M240B in the US Army is setting it to 2, which is more like 600 rpm. The weapon was put reassembled without paying attention to the gas regulator from the sound of it. More maybe Swedes love their blicka going fast.

@g00gleisgayerthanaids56 well their concept on a rail gun is most accurate I'd say seeing as having a hand held shoulder fired version would need to be charged before firing instead of it constantly be ready to fire the second you switch the safety off

Whichever dev said all automaton infantry can call in dropships was correct. The nuance to it is that the single sword guy will always be the first bot to attempt to fire a flare. After he dies, another will attempt to fire a flare. This will keep happening until either all the infantry bots are dead or one of them gets the flare off.
The care and attention they put into every small aspect of the game really shows. It’s a great game, and I bet this genre is going to blow up like battle royal games on the back on HD2s success, which may be unfortunate for HD2 in the long run, but this game will certainly be one of the legendary co-op games of all time. It’s truly great, and has incredible potential to get even better- they just need to keep fixing and refining the stability issues, but for a non competitive game I can see how that’s not at the top of the list.
The genre is going to blow up? The co-op horde shooter, a genre that has been around for decades? Deep Rock, DarkTide/Vermintide, Left 4 Dead/Back 4 Blood? That genre?
The last biggest one was lf4 and the other games you mentioned barely scratched 50k, not to downplay those games since they're great but nowhere near what HD2 achieved, DGS is amazing and has a relatively big player base still of 30k while games like darktide and vermintide barely maintain 5k at least that's what steamchart show so in a way the guy is right, its been awhile since a genre like this blew up.@@LoganChristianson

I can't think of the last time, if ever, where I saw the CEO of a game studio playing their game like a normal person within the community. Truly refreshing.
Yea with how vocal he is even in his personal social page, game discord, or community. And in contrast to indie game that does it occasionally for marketing, being a CEO w/ how busy managing the studio is, that means a lot when Johan Pilestedt (CEO) literally took his own time instead of sending someone. that some transparency and trust to the game.
I hope the devs read the comments on this video. I want them to know that this is hands down the best game I've played in years. Every part of it is amazing. The graphics, the gameplay, the lore, the aesthetic, progression, and especially the music is absolutely top notch. Thank you so much for making a great game.

Only 1 afaik. The IP was sadly part of the publishing contract and Paradox dropped them as developers right after it came out. That's why they had to invent a new IP. Still turned out well, I guess.
13:50 “the community will change names to things” Indeed. I never called Hunters “Hunters”, I’ve always called them Flankers because they have the game mechanic to flank around you while you focus on one of them in a group. I got this game a few days ago and have been loving it. The other side of me likes games like No Mans Sky, and they had exploration like those games in this as well. Maybe they will one day.
my group of buddies always call them "LEGO Star Wars doors" because there are so many doors in those games that require both players to pull a lever at the same time
i would love to see a mission that just has players exploring a big cave with alot of tunnels and the objective is to eliminate a big enemy for example a queen ant like enemy. every time they clear a section, a team of A.I diggers dig a hole so that reinforcements can come and help. what do you think?
One of the things that I still love is just how cinematic this game is. I'm doing missions on Ustata and seeing bots just crest the sand dunes at dusk is so beautiful. You feel like you're in a movie. And higher difficulties enhance that feeling. Super incredible stuff
I saw a compilation on Gamesprout of Helldivers stuff, and a dude threw a grenade to distract a patrol (including a charger) that was sitting on a liberty pod. He crawled up in prone, grabbed the pod, and escaped without them noticing him. "Stealth system" totally not needed when you have procedural enemy detection that works thst damn well.

to anyone who might disagree with or just not like the ceo or any of the other devs, all i gotta say is, you cant say these dudes dont love their game and community. whens the last time bobby kotic sat down with a streamer or pro to play some CoD? Arrowhead is setting a new standard in the industry, not just with the games themselves but with how companies treat their employees and how they interact with their communities. its very refreshing to to just see the level of openness and honesty these devs have. theyre gonna give us the truth even if it pisses us off and that will forever command my respect.
seeing the ceo and another dev playing their own game and enjoying it so much is so cool to see. Also hearing that the guys in office have actual mil/firearms experience is illuminating. No wonder the game is so damn good.
It's pretty wild how hard they hit it out of the park with this game, and they managed to add a lot of hardcore mechanics really missing from a lot of current games.
And surprise, surprise they sound like genuine down to earth gamers and normal human beings. Who would have thought. There's a reason why the game is so sucessful and its because its been made by gamers with a vision for a good game. Not made by shareholders with a vision for big profit. And the praise they are getting for how they are responding to some critics is fantastic, not afraid to tell people to shut up when they are being stupid instead of change and tailor the game to the 1% of Karens who cry about something ruining it for the majority. We had too in our service the FN Mag [m240] that had that option. The MAG fires fully automatic only and the 3 position gas selector allows for a rate of fire between 650 and 1.000 rounds per minute.

"A sound system that works"
Explains why bug holes start sending scouts when running by instead of crouching...among other things. Of course those with a Swedish military background could deliver an experience like this with those crisp reloading animations, beefy gunfire sounds and being able to fire off your last round because the mag's not there! Something I don't think third person shooters do all that often or at all. Arrowheads's one Hell of a team
That "last bullet in without the magazine" thing blew my mind when i experienced it. At first i didn't realize
New mag, ready;
And new mag (empty.
The sound is pretty mediocre. Guns don't sound beefy at all, what are you talking about?
The devs can't get anymore praise. Actually engaging with the game and the community to see how their decisions are Actually affecting gameplay

1. Bugs can see and hear, but some variants like the Stalker can "smell" you and will find you no matter what
2. Orbital Gas Strikes have a large area of effect and can be used to destroy eggs
3. They would like to add a first person drop in view for the hellpod
4. If bots scramble your strategem you can check the left hand of the screen to see what you are going to throw
5. You can toss grenades back at bots
6. The "hearing" mechanic used in the game makes sprinting much louder to the enemies as opposed to crawling or crouching
7. Explosions and gunfire attract enemies
Explains why Hunters and Stalkers follow you till the end of the map, their role in the hive actually fits with their name not just functionally but biologically as well
Plus using smokes or spores against bots, bec ofc they use scanners to detect and they actually think like robots, calculations, estimations and logic etc.
8a. Bugs and bots will search around for 30 seconds and then will do the following: Bugs will spread out into a search pattern while bots will shoot at your last known location despite not actually knowing where you are.
9. Hellpod drops after the first attract patrols as mentioned by @maliketh2951
10. Certain enemies are killed more easily by shooting off a leg rather than body shots, so experiment. (Ex.: charger & chainsaw [head is best for chainsaw but it is VERY small])

That genre?
The totally new and never before seen co-op horde shooter genre, yes of course....

Helldiver 1 was my first game on the ps4 and it will always have a special place in my heart, it was so cool to see one of my favorite games blow up this hard and I couldn’t be more happy for the devs and for democracy of course
to anyone who might disagree with or just not like the ceo or any of the other devs, all i gotta say is, you cant say these dudes dont love their game and community. whens the last time bobby kotic sat down with a streamer or pro to play some CoD? Arrowhead is setting a new standard in the industry, not just with the games themselves but with how companies treat their employees and how they interact with their communities. its very refreshing to to just see the level of openness and honesty these devs have. theyre gonna give us the truth even if it pisses us off and that will forever command my respect.
Funny thing when hearing Patrik and Johan, i was like "Sounds swedish" I wasent aware Arrowhead Game Studios made Helldivers 2, which is swedish X)
There's a reason why Sweden in the center of the Super Earth logo!
@@Roxfox Oh, i havent even noticed as i dont currently play Helldivers 2 ^^, alot of fun to watch though
same, though i didnt pick up on it until after they said they were, but i can hear it now.
I can literally hear the "jaaa mÿcket bra!" xD
Why do they birth so many fun games? OG Swedish Dice was my childhood
@@Roxfoxthe box art theme is Blue and Yellow too, swedens flag
At my age, that level of gameplay is so far beyond my abilities. Gratz to all of you who can do that. 👍
seeing the ceo and another dev playing their own game and enjoying it so much is so cool to see. Also hearing that the guys in office have actual mil/firearms experience is illuminating. No wonder the game is so damn good.
For me, one of the best games ever made - so many functional details, everything is simulated (physics!) and feels alive :)
12:55 sick dive
Bravo
We had too in our service the FN Mag [m240] that had that option.
The MAG fires fully automatic only and the 3 position gas selector allows for a rate of fire between 650 and 1.000 rounds per minute.
So refreshing to have a CEO so involved with the player base
12:48 I know for a FACT that all small bots can call dropships. Every last one. Sword bots, commissars, jumpers, rocket launchers. All of them.
the only bot that can call in a bot drop is the commissars they are the only ones
@@The_Geni I will post on Reddit that you are wrong.
