I’m 72, grew up with the music of James Taylor. Crying now, as I grieve my beloved son who ended his life in April 2024. “I always thought I’d see you again”. 💔
So sorry for your loss. I love James Taylor music. I am 73 years old. All of his songs (like most of our era) have a story and mood behind. May your son Rest In Peace...God Bless You all...
When the internet goes down, real artists will have a revival. They'll come to be in touch with/find their feelings & the part of themselves that looks for & imparts hope. Til then, we still have & can memorize the good folk music of the past to keep it alive.
Jimmy; check out Bob Bennets music. He signs mostly gospel. Check out his song titled JT in honor of JT. I've been listening to Bob Bennett since the 1980's. He came out in 1976. Check out Bob Bennetts livestreams. He is one of my favorite musicians. He has never been real popular due to being obese most of his life.
James Taylor's not just a great songwriter and storyteller ,he's an institution and a voice for eternity. How many souls has this man's music soothed. God bless you James.
I come from South Africa and I came across this band while studying in Ireland in the 80s......... we had no exposure to this kind of music in SA ........... now in my 60s I look back at my life so much of my best moments and and my sad moments are captured in this music I guess it became a part of my life my journey my perseverance........... i still find myself dropping a vinyle in my journey........ called my life ❤
A masterpiece. One of the greatest pieces of writing and music delivered by one of our most gifted musicians of all time. We need to treasure and learn from these people. Most of today's music is utter garbage.
Fire n Rain reminds me of a very dear friend, Dawn Swartzentruver, from Watertown, Upstate New York whom I met during the Christmas holidays in 1968. I was 20 years old n she was 19 then. We developed a great relationship. Sadly. Dawn passed away in July two years ago. I truly missed her. May she Rest in Peace Amen
The opening chords make me well up in tears. This was my brother's favorite song. We were best friends and it has been 27 years since he passed and I still can't shake him. I suppose I never will.
I’m sorry. Your words are piercing. There may be things we never get over. I just hope for God to give me grace in the peaks and the valleys. Maybe you never will shake him. I pray it gets easier.
Hope you find the peace and comfort that you long for so badly! It seems to be such an elusive place and feeling. I’m not sure I can do 27 years. Lost 6 very close close friends in Iraq, 3 at one time. Guys that I was closer to than some blood relatives! Sometimes I can hear a voice, a pop, something loud fall and instantly I’m back in that hell hole. So I can sympathize with your sentiment, Blessings to you and God speed!
You will see her again, one day, in the afterlife! James Taylor, you are incomparable! Grown out of a time in our history when we needed your sensitivity!
I watched an older version of this when you were younger, just today. I couldn't stop sobbing. My mother has had ALS and fights every day. Felt compelled to let you know I am another of the millions of people you've touched in your life thank you.
My mother passed a month ago and we are playing this for her Celebration of Life,.. Just sitting here listening to this and all the Great memories with my mother,...Thanks James
I listen to this song and see him singing it and I can't stop seeing him sing this when he was young back in the 70's. I can only imagine him thinking how time went by so quickly. The song is sad but his voice is still amazing.
Two close folks in my life passed the past two days and after a walk in the windy November night "when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around"...thank you James...after pondering it for awhile...this is the song I chose to share my grief on FB
Some really lonesome notes! Makes me think about a lot of things, including how alone I feel in this world. I’ve reached the crest and I’m headed back downhill. But, I don’t regret much for what took place on the way up to the crest. I’ve stood alone for a lot of my life, but I think I always was true to my beliefs and principles. I’ve had a lot of good people teach me the right things. May the downhill slope be long and gentle. With some adventures, excitement, and love along the way to the end of the trail. Maybe I can leave this world a better place for having lived in it.
I’m so grateful I got to see him in LV @ Cesar’s coliseum. Long time wish come true. He was one of my motivators to learn guitar and every time I play one of his songs.
One of my dearest songs when I was growing up and JT is amazing how his voice does not change and the expressiveness does not change. Only he seems to have found inner peace and he radiates such warmth.
👍 🎤 🎸 ! I’m 70ish now, but grew up listening to James Taylor, and still do. Being one of his older classic songs that’ he’s recently performed, I played it back to back with a much earlier version, and prefer this one, though both are very good imo. *** A side note: After reading the ‘more’ info on this, I was truly surprised to see that John Pizzarelli is the jazz 🎸ist! I was a good friend of his sister (Anne) throughout high school, and lived in the next town from their family. She and I went to the same college and lived in the dorm with rooms down the hall from each other. John’s dad, Bucky, was a well known, respected jazz guitarist who played with some of the ‘great’s’ - and his music is still popular today.
James is the one artist in my life that can bring a full range of emotions to the surface in an instant. All I feel is bliss because of it. The sadness is somehow happiness and the happiness is somehow gratitude. I feel a calm wash over me that I am so grateful for. I cannot be the only one that feels this way. To touch so many people in this way is a life filled with purpose, thank you JT.
How blessed we are to hear such love and beauty from such a fine musician! It seems to get better with age, or at least I’m appreciating greatness more!!
Thank you, James for all of the wonderful hours listening to you over the last 50 years, you have always lifted our spirits and we can't thank you enough for your passionate dedication to your craft.
Yup. Beautiful. Like everyone here knows, Taylor's work is canon and will be played forever. But here in this vid/performance, let's take a minute and acknowledge the great Larry Goldings!!!! Master musician. Go Larry! Go Larry!
James è il più straordinario interprete delle sue stesse canzoni, peraltro meravigliose; nessun altro artista potrebbe interpretarle meglio di Lui ... E unico al mondo....
leave it out with the autotune reference. There are thousands of artists out there that make plain, honest and beautiful music. Maybe get off your iPhone and visits some clubs.
I pray that somehow he feels how much a part of each of us who experience his music he is. He has shared 50+ years with each of us, been a wonderful part of our journey, and brought us such joy. I hope he knows all that he has meant to each and every one of us. He deserves to know. He has earned that privilege.
My best friends mom passed away this weekend and I’m just going to miss her so much. She was so kind to me I’ll never forget her and how special she always made me feel.
Remembering that time in 2012 when I was at a James Taylor concert in Massachusetts, and a surprise guest Taylor Swift came out on stage to sing Fire and Rain as a duet. The only time I've seen Taylor Swift where the audience was not mostly teenage girls!
🥀Beautiful Song I've always loved this song it's since the 60's on up my sister's use to play his music. I love all of his song's they are addictive🥀☝️🥀

May he rest in paradise ❤
❤
The sad thing is that we don't have very many true artists around anymore like James...so we better take all of it in while we still can....❤️❤️
Amen!!!
Your right about that just about all is now is a bunch of untalented stupid singers I won't use any names lol
When the internet goes down, real artists will have a revival. They'll come to be in touch with/find their feelings & the part of themselves that looks for & imparts hope.
Til then, we still have & can memorize the good folk music of the past to keep it alive.
What are you talking about?
They are recorded, digitally, and will be around, forever.

Loved your music since i was a child. Still moves my soul.
It's a blessing of modern technology that I can jump onto UA-cam and watch this brilliant man play this song when he was young and when he is old.
A masterpiece. One of the greatest pieces of writing and music delivered by one of our most gifted musicians of all time.

It’s as beautiful now as it was back in the 70’s. This still brings tears to my eyes but also smiles now. 😊
James smiles more now when he sings it too.

Look to God's promises He's not dead You will see your brother again 🙏 he's resting in an Immaculate Spirit Body not made with hands, and in no pain

There is something so painfully sweet about fire & rain. It speaks to me of madness, hope, and despair. James Taylor is a national hero.
I cry, too
You will see her again, one day, in the afterlife! James Taylor, you are incomparable! Grown out of a time in our history when we needed your sensitivity!
One day ❣️🥀
Music like this will never be forgotten. Our children and their children will cherish it forever.
Indeed 🙏❤
We still need it :)
And we still need JT, his artistry, sensitivity and love.

I am dying of many things. But james makes me go in comfort. Goodbye .
God’s peace with you
we are all dying so you are not alone my friend, whoever you are.

If you have Jesus as a friend then the retirement benefits are out of this world !
Listening to James Taylor never gets old his songs just as relevant as when I first heard them all those years ago !!!
One of the most recognizable voices in pop music ever....unique and unmistakable....
Thank you Mr Taylor 🙏🏽
