  • In this video, I explain what each vacuum line does and their location on an 87 to 93 Foxbody 5.0 Mustang. I also replace the EGR valve and solenoid, as well as the smog pump solenoids. This is a great video to review if you have broken vacuum lines or are getting EGR errors.

This video is what I needed. I have been looking up diagrams and diagrams. But if you're like me, you like someone to show you. You like someone to explain it. More specifically, in the beginning of the video when you are holding the "junction" of vacuum lines for the egr routing and smog. So thank you!

This video was very informative. Nobody really goes in depth with the vacuum lines. My fox is running rich I’m thinking one of my sensors is bad or a vacuum leak

If there's a vacuum leak you'd think it would be lean from unmetered air in the system

I have the same issue and I changed the mass airflow sensor but still having problems so I’m gonna need to work on the vacuum lines? Did you ever fix your issue?

Great video! I'm still looking for a kit and currently I purchased a kit from LMR but it only has one gauge vacuum line and some fittings I had to rig it with some tubing. I'm going to order a vacuum kit off Amazon soon.

The best one is the OEM green colored kit. It seals the best of any of them.

My '87 LX was running on the warm side. I started digging into the cooling system and found a lot of the metal hose-connection nipples had holes in them and lots of rust debris in the system... ended up replacing several components...the heater tube assembly (runs from the top-front of the engine under the UIM almost to the heater core), water pump, radiator, and several coolant hoses. I'm not sure if that's normal aging or the fault of a body shop that did some front end work in 2001 after a fender bender... they replaced the radiator... seems I remember they may have refilled it with plain water and I didn't discover it until a while later (I rarely drive the car).

Not uncommon to have very dirty coolant in an old car, especially with owners who never flushed the system. I recommend doing several coolant flushes (with a coolant flush additive) and see how it goes. It can take three to four flushes before the coolant looks normal. Just my recommendation.

I have a 93 gt and I replaced the tad, tab, and egr solenoid and most of the vacuum lines. I’m curious how much vacuum is there to the smog system? It still seems very low and has me stumped. I get vacuum to the bottom of egr solenoid, but doesn’t come from the top line. Maybe an electrical issue. I’m just not sure.

I need a little help I’m understanding a little bit but I scanned my 1995 gt with a scanner and it scanned with car off no issues then with a running test it said egr valve not opening all the vacuum lines looked to be good from what me and buddy looked at but could it be the vacuum regulator and how would you check?

I have another video showing the vacuum lines for 94 and 95 Mustangs. I also show the location for the solenoid you are asking about. Honestly, I recommend checking the vacuum lines in the wheel well. I usually replace the EGR valve because they go bad with age.

I did run a test, but it did not show any issues. Honestly, I have seen ODB1 not show issues in the past. I had a car with a O2 senior missing and the computer did not report it. I had broken multiple multiple vacuum lines on a 95 Mustang and it did not report it either.
