Hi, multimokia! I absolutely love your FTL covers. I was wondering what would be your terms/price for using your FTL orchestral covers during a stream? I just started to stream on Twitch last Saturday, and would love to play it while I work on an outer space setting for D&D.
@@magonus195 Ik this is a year old, but if you never got an answer I'd give a shot towards seeing if the artist has a business email or something similar. They may not check youtube for business inquiries. Best of luck on your setting as a fellow Dungeons and Dragons-er(?)!
"It doesn't take long for the flagship to notice you. Thinking you're just a regular federation ship in its way, it powers up its artilleries and approaches."
Everyone here be talkin' about the Flagship Warning Alarm, but nobody be talking about how the first alarm (1:52) is followed by a short pause, and then a Xylophone hit to indicate the launching of drones, and then a growing intensity of drums to indicate them flying circles around the ship and firing from every angle, followed by a second Xylophone hit when said extra drones are recalled? And then with the second Alarm at 3:02- it's also followed by a short pause, but with a Cymbal crash instead of a Xylophone, indicating a mass of weapons firing all at once, and then the drums sounding like a massive number of shots hitting the hull simultaneously (almost like that of Flak guns)?
I first listened to this a few days ago. Originally, I was met with mixed feelings. "Oh, it's just an orchestral mix. No big deal." But over time, I listened more... listened deeper. I just heard the 'Power Surge' warning done with the low horns yesterday, and I burst out laughing. What a tiny detail, but one that made the song much more interesting. I thought that was it. Today, I'm listening to this song after beating the Flagship in my own game... and I hear the Flagship jumping out after the first surge warning. What a masterpiece. You need more subs.
Glad you liked it! I've hidden a couple more details too if you listen carefully, Some mocked up cloaking sounds, drone release (for first power surge), plus a hull beach sound with warning for being boarded. Some others for the second power surge too! Grats on beating the flagship!
Listening through it again now... correct me if I'm wrong, but; 1:03 - The flagship cloaking right after initiating combat. I don't know if this is a constant, but it happens for me every time. 1:51 - First power surge alert. 2:01 - Hull breach (cowbell? some percussion...) with subsequent 'Intruder Alert' warning (string instrument). 2:07 - Flagship jumps out. 2:55 - Player ship jumps into flagship's sector? The Alien-esque stings definitely sound like the engine noise to me. 3:01 - Second power surge alert. 3:05 - Another hull breach - or maybe a teleporter - plus the same 'Intruder Alert' sting. 3:25 - Cloaking? + 3:41 - Cloak disengaged? 4:00 - Flagship destroyed, credits roll. This is crazy, man. I could listen to this song for hours and still miss the smaller details if I wasn't paying attention. Good show! EDIT: Just noticed the sort of twin or tri note piano bits that start during the three and a half minute mark. Weapons charging? Maybe I'm thinking too far into this...
@@toaster6035 1:03 - Right on, the initial flagship cloak 1:51 - Also correct 2:01 - Yep, tried to do the drone sound a little earlier (after the surge), but it's not as clear and was harder to mock up 2:07 - I think this one's down to interpretation, personally I always felt this one to be your ship cloaking since there's a drone swarm, plus you're boarded (that and phase 2 flagship has no cloaking anymore) Also makes the following section make more sense (to me at least) since it's a moment's break during the cloak. 2:50 - This bit here was supposed to be the decloak. Subtle, but was the only real way I could mimic it 3:01 - Yep, second power surge 3:05 - This bit was essentially the heavy-laser volley the flagship shoots at you in phase 3. The cymbals being the firing of it 3:07 - Here's where those shots land on you a bit. 3 of them hit your hull. The resulting warning sound is basically a 'Hull below 75%' warning Those were all the ones I intentionally included. Nice listening on catching all the details!
Now that you mention it, I do hear the three drum hits at 3:07, and the sound for the hull warning is the same as the intruder alert in game. That's awesome! I think I prefer to interpret the intended ship cloaking as more of a jump drive segment, since the music tones down as if the battle (for now) is over, and you're looking on the sector map to find the flagship. I do see how it would work as the cloak effect, though you'd have to jump at some point to reach the second phase. I'm impressed by how much storyline you managed to cram into this song, especially while keeping it as much of a banger it already is. I can't give enough praise.
Yep! That's fair there, though you can always just wait at the current location (if you're at the federation base) and it'll just come back to. But that's fine, it's the fun of interpreting it after all. Nothing right or wrong. Thanks for the compliment!
The federation and rebels literally slitting each other’s necks while the kestrel and the rebel flagship are just other somewhere away from the battle vibing to this.
@@sosig6445 I think they were talking about the kestrel adventures series, in there the ship had a burst laser 2 and an artemis missile (not sure if it had anything else I can't remember).

Kestrel: *Backed into a corner by the Rebel battlecruisers/destroyers/heavy cruisers/whatever* Flagship: *aggressively vibing in front of the Fed base*
I think it's the power surge warning alarm! The first one is followed by a xylophone indicating the drones launching, rolling drums sounding like them repeatedly hitting your shields/hull, then another xylophone of the drones being recalled. The second alarm is followed by a cymbal crash of the flagship launching lasers in all directions.
I typically hate orchestrated mixes and other such 'remasters' as I tend to leave feeling they lacked the same sorta 'feel' of the original. This one was a pleasant surprise, though, as I believe you did a stellar job at not only capturing the feeling of the original score, but also the feeling of what the song is used for. It just screams "finality", less a videogame's final boss and more a cinematic showdown at the end of some grand journey against insurmountable odds. Less a duel against a singular, larger-than-average ship and more a proper Last Stand against an army with numbers that blot out the stars. Anyway, here's a like and a sub. Thanks!
I actually teared up. No joke. And I don't know why. This came up in a random playlist as I was studying and I just had to stop because my mind just relived in a single instance all the hardships, victories and defeats in the long journey to battle the rebel flagship.
In my D&D campaign's first boss fight almost four years ago now, where my players fought the physical form of a greater demon without knowing what they were getting themselves into, they then had to convince an army general who had been sent to cover up the whole mess to let them go. During that stand-off which almost came to blows (and would have been disastrous if it had), I played the original FTL Last Stand music. Now, four years later, they've made it into hell itself alongside that same general (since exiled for letting them go) to destroy the spiritual form of that greater demon once and for all - and when they're right before that final fight and that general gives them a rousing speech to finish the fight, this is the orchestration I will use for their background music to let the whole thing come full circle. Thank you so much for an amazing orchestration of an already fantastic track!
Ben made a blood pressure rising masterpiece. You have beautifully evolved it. The bittersweet end at 4:00 makes everyone who played the game tear up. Usually when I see "ochestral" remake, I just roll my eyes, because it's just ton of reverb usually with nothing more than basic orchestral sound bank on top of original midi. Your piece is lovingly crafted, with human playing real instruments making imperfections, real orchestra room reverb, incredible arrangement... It's beyond words how good this is. It's clear you love the original score and you get the idea behind it. You have even recreated the almost silent melody arpegio at 3:28 like the original... then BOOM, let's hear it properly in your own way. WELL FUCKING DONE! I just... can't express how well done this remake is and how much detail is preserved from the original.

You charge your weapons, killing the remaining crew thinking that it will stop the monstrocity but you made it only worse. a moment, both of you and the rebel ship are low. *sniffling* I'm not crying... what're you talking about...
WOW that masterpiece !!
Really makes it feel like a big battle.
while no doubt this is a work of art and very well made, it feels to me almost completely unrelated to the original piece, the notes are there in the right place, but it's just so very... different

Techno and orchestra tend to sound somewhat different.
I've come from a certain episode 39.
Well, got the same frisson from this as I did from the original track, so I'd say job well done!
coooooooooooool!
