"They ask you concerning intoxicants and games of chance. Say " In both of them is a great sin and both are harmful too. They have some uses for people, but the sin inherent in them is even more serious than their usefulness." - Baqara, 219. The prohibition against these two vices are clearly made in Quran so I'm puzzled as to why some Muslim brothers and sisters seem to believe them to be debatable issues.
