Thanks for subbing! Glad you enjoy our work. This was shot in August 2015, so I hate to say it ain't so.... but I've never fished out of San Diego in June. But you can bet by August the fishing in SoCol will once again be off the hook!
Stunning footage and amazing fish😨. I mean I love going after big wild browns but those tuna have about quadruple the power of a 20 inch brown or wild bow 😂😂😂. Amazing video, look forward to the next one!🎣🐟💦
Thanks so much! They are amazing fish, and you’ll love chasing them when you get the chance! Bows and browns have a special place in my heart since I’m primarily a trout guy, but every once in a while it’s great to feel the PULL!
Awesome, I'm super excited for you! It was Captain Mark Martin who had the knowledge, and it's been just long enough that I actually can't remember. You can reach out to him, he still runs a charter out of San Diego. Look up Capt. Mark Martin on Instagram and I'm sure he'd be happy to answer your questions. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm not sure what flies they are using, I was just the filmmaker on that trip. If you contact www.sandiegosaltwaterfishing.com/ Mark will have more answers for you. Thanks!
If I live to be a hundred, I’ll never beat the thrill of fighting these gorgeous denizens on light tackle….gotta get back out there soon!
It is such a blast! Can’t wait to get back out there myself.
Ya'll need bigger/deeper/longer landing nets! Nice work!
Agreed! 🙂 That net was not even close to big enough!
Gonna need a bigger net!! Beautiful. Thanks, I love fishing out of San Diego. Azure blue.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! That’s a super fun fishery for sure. It’s been a few years, I probably need to get back out there soon!
Great job Gilbert. That's a lot of sushi going back in the water. ;)
Haha, no doubt! We kept a couple and they were amazingly delicious!
Dorado?!! In June?!! In San Diego?!!! Say it ain’t so! Looks like another great season in store for So Cal! Awesome video! Sub’d to the channel.

goosebump to hear the drag sound..
Until that day I never knew a reel could scream like that! Super impressive and crazy at the same time!
I need this in my life.
I'm feeling the same way right now! Snow is on the ground here, I'd love to be somewhere warm chasing tuna!!!
Amazing fishing!!🎣
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
Another amazing video Gilbert. Well done!
Thanks man, I really appreciate it!
Great video. I would love to experience that on a fly one day, but I struggle to catch tuna as it is with live bait lol. Props!
I can relate! We were very blessed on this shoot, it was a blast!
Great .motivated me to go for the bleu water fly fishing
Awesome, I hope it goes well for you!
Whoa! And I live in San Diego. Ask Conway Bowman about Mako on a fly! Loved the film!
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
AWESOME VIDEO BRO. WOW!!!!
Thanks man, I really appreciate!
Amazing video! i really wanted to see what fly fishing offshore look like.
Thanks so much! It can be a ton of fun... as long as you don’t get sea sick! 😉

Man i just seen some random ig video talkin bout marlin on the fly and now im here, i was in disbelief. Lemme go look for them marlin videos rq 😎
Sweet! We've never filmed marlin, but they are an amazing fish!
What weight tippet?
What knots were you using to connect the backing to fly line? Also the fly line to leader? Chasing them in November so I want to be dialed!

I like that they used a trout net.
That was pretty funny ;-) Use what you have, right?!?!
Great video, I love fly fishing if possible please let me know which fly is good for Tuna fish? Thank you for your time

@@GilbertRowley thank you so much for your time
Great job, Just curious was this video shot recently.
Correct, we shot this in 2015. Each year the tuna and dorado fishing in SoCal is fantastic, but in 2015 it was particularly good!
You’d think these fellers might have considered a larger net... That’s a damn trout net!
Better than a gaff, right?! ;-) But you’re correct, we could have used a bigger net.
@@GilbertRowley was kinda humorous really. Nice work regardless. Slated to do that myself next season.
@@brentdrift awesome! You’re going to love it! Best of luck next year out there.
Whoa, tuners are neat
Very neat indeed! ;-)
What size rods were you guys using?
12 wt rods, they pull really really hard!
Gilbert Rowley how much backing are those reels you all are using hold??
Sushi😎🕺
Sun tanned, sun blotched skin, all characteristic of hardy fisherman.
Amen!
Any bluefin over 60lbs will destroy that gear
I don’t doubt it! They pull soooo hard!
This’s Sage Salt Xi2? Xi3?
Sage Salt 12wts for sure, but this was filmed in 2015… so which ever was brand new at the time.
@@GilbertRowley 👍👍🤝
@@GilbertRowley Can you tell me the reel model? and cord
@@Sakhbereg Reel- Hatch Iconic 11+, I don’t remember the backing… probably made by Hatch but I don’t remember exactly.
