  • "The Communist Manifesto," initially titled "Manifesto of the Communist Party," is a political pamphlet authored by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels on behalf of the Communist League. Released in London in 1848, it serves as a foundational work of Marxism. The manifesto articulates the historical materialist concept that society's progression is marked by class struggles, where individuals are classified based on their relationship to the means of production. Emerging amidst the tumult of the 1848 Revolutions and their suppression, the Manifesto has enduring global significance as a key political text.

    For the sake of clarity, I have translated "bourgeoisie" as "the capitalist class" and the "proletariat" as "the working class" in most references.
