With a good seat I've thought I could probably put on as many miles in a day as my 2019 Goldwing that has the (stock seat for now. ) I need to get back out to California and get a Russell seat built for the AT . Before the whole state burns up🔥
HI Tony great review of the Africa Twin. I have a 2018 DCT and absolutely love it. The only problem is once you have enjoyed a dct its difficult to go back to a manual bike. Not sure I can make the leap to a 1100 but to be honest I don't see the need right now as my 1000 is more than enough for me. I really enjoy your no nonsense videos and look forward to each and every one of them.
I have the 2019 ADV Sports DCT and the only thing I would sell it for is a DCT TransAlp that may or may not happen! A 750 version of this bike would be amazing! That 750 ADV scooter you can't get in the US would be a game changer for many people as well! I hear a lot of complaints on why DCT isn't offered on the 500 that would also be a great ADV option!
Should really come with heated seats also! An oem option atleast! Ive thrown 5k at my bike, denali lights and horn, touratech, altrider and decals from africa twin shop in france! Im treating myself to a comfort seat, but its been 8wks and really cant wait! Leo vince silencer with the baffle out sounds proper job!!! 😂
Not the same bike but my latest buy- CBR 600 f has really surprised me. Honda’s are not boring (to the likes of me anyway) and way exceed my talents. Build quality and ride are fantastic and in black-looks great.
I have the e/s dct adventure sports version best bike I’ve ever owned little heavy for me or I’m not big enough haven’t managed to drop it yet. I’m an all year rider the bike has stalled twice at really low pull off speeds in the 11000 miles I’ve covered apart from that no issues at all. I have a Yamaha tracer 900 gt also but that tends to spend most of the time in the shed.
Never realised you were testing a "Big Lad" Tony, but loved your honest review (as always). After years of exile I "met" my big lad in April, and have already put Conti Trail attack 3's (puncture in the Metzeler rear) and just received my Givi 30l top box 2 days ago - so following your pattern mate..... It was Richy's trip to Scotland last year that made my choice for me !. Ride safe brother 👍
@@mancavemoto Funny really Tony, as I have names for my bikes, which I know is not your mantra as you mention here. In the past, my OWN nickname was “Big Red”, but God has made me more aerodynamic these days 🤓. The process by which I chose the Twin as my daily rider (after 40 years without owning one) was truly insane, but I already owned “Ronnie”, so my big lad is known as Reg or Reggie. Literally just did the paperwork for a 2021 adventure sport dct which has all the things you said you wish that one had, I’ve not even seen it put together yet and can barely contain myself
DCT all the way! A person really cannot ride one for a few minutes, an hour, or even a day and give the DCT a fair review, it takes time to rewrite the brain. The first month of riding mine, I kept grabbing for the clutch and searching for the gear shifter 😂🤦🏻♂️; 45 continuous years riding (none of this sissy stuff of taking 20+ years off for kids, they rode too) and owning 34 different bikes, the ingrained riding habits just don’t rewire easy. I’ve had my 2016 AT DCT for 4 years (and I have a Goldwing) and love it. Just stop in the middle of a steep dirt trail, then we’ll talk about the DCT! I wish they had it in the CBX500.
I bought a $20 Bluetooth adapter on Amazon to bypass the CarPlay safety lockout on my ‘21 Goldwing because I like riding without a helmet. Works great!
*The Girl On A Bike* has proven the excellent accessibility of this bike in very challenging off-road conditions. It's a really versatile platform which can convey you very long distances on tarmac fully loaded in total comfort all the way to your favourite dirt rides and the engine's relatively lowish state of tune means Honda's traditional reliability is more or less guaranteed.
I have a 21-plate Tiger Rally Pro. Have to say I’m a bit disappointed with it. Feels very heavy to manhandle, gives me hellish bum ache after an hour, and, most annoying, the gearbox/clutch/quick shifter setup leaves me cold. I’ve ridden bikes for 45 years 😳, and this is the first one I’ve struggled to get consistently smooth gear changes on. Covered 3500 miles on it already, but it still doesn’t feel natural. Should have tried a DCT 🤔..... Great review.......
That’s a bummer to hear, I feel like the Tiger 900 Rally Pro is one of the better transmissions out there. The quick shifts are seriously spot on. 100% smooth. Maybe needs some adjustment?
Thank you for the great review Tony. Looks like a really fine job that Honda did with this machine. I got to admit that as i'm riding along with you, your route looks a bit scary. Your roads look as big as some of our bicycle path's over here in the U.S.. Maybe in reality there a bit wider. At least your safer on this bike than the Zero since they can here you coming (lol). Anyway keep having fun & keep entertaining us. Your friend across the pond. Illinois,USA
I had a 2019 DCT and I couldn't get into it. I tried to off-road the bike and it was way too twitchy at low speed (1st gear). It's hard to recover from a lunge because you don't have a clutch. I tried to ride the bike in manual mode but it just didn't work for me. I ended up trading the bike 6 months later for a 2020 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE and I'm now having way more fun when off-roading.
@@mancavemoto Yeah I was riding my AT (and Scram) through ATV parks and difficult gravel roads. It was fun while it lasted but I appreciate that my Scrambler complements my riding style much better.
Great review. I have the adventure sport DCT and think it’s the dogs bits. An tad lighter would be nice but these adventure bikes are tall and heavy. 👍👍
Not sure how you have some gear for this bike but it's not yours ? Ah I just heard you said you have it on loan , wow didn't know that dealers loaned these out . Anyway hope you get a chance to get this bike . I have the Tenere 700 and only have 875 miles on it and I have had it for just over a year now . Work work and more work . I have to do my first moto camp real soon as the weather is starting to change . I sort of out grew my Suzuki DR650 and had been eyeballing the new Twin and the Tenere that was soon coming out , boy I just thought man those are the 2 best looking bikes ever . Got my deposit in for the Tenere in Feb 2020 and then something crazy happened and is still happening . The Tenere is one third less in price but not a third less fun I would imagine . Anyway thanks for the review , it's so tempting to say scree it and go sign some papers and get one but that would get me stoned to death by the misses . If she saw another motorcycle in the garage , I only have one , she would go crazy . Awe man that bike is great though , I have to test ride one. Take care and that would be awesome if you can swing it and have that bike .
The bike is on loan from Honda UK and they are relaxed about fitting parts to it, as long as it’s returned to them in the original spec. It’s a great bike and I’ve really grown to love it. It’s the DCT that makes it stand out for me. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment
I gather at the Honda off road centre the advice is that for the vast majority of riders except experts the DCT is far better off road. I have a DCT Goldwing and have ridden the manual version frankly I can’t understand why anyone would consider the manual for the bike the DCT is so superior
It certainly helps as you can't stall it. However the only drawback is that it could be prone to a bit of 'Whisky Throttle' if your positioning and bike handling isnt too good off road. I'd pick the DCT version on any of the Hondas that have it.
Great review thanks. I really value the insights you give after a lengthy ‘ownership’ Sounds like the imu has brought the dct up a couple of levels. Seems you didn’t feel any lack of power - was there enough grunt.?
Thanks Mike, yep the IMU seems to have ironed out the few kinks in the dct. Plenty of grunt, which is why I had to cut from the Speedo view a couple of times! 😉
I have the Forza 750 best DCT when entering competition I’m after this or get the cash to get the NT1100dct which just has the tour package but all exactly the same engine.
Sorely tempted over my 2014 GSA which has had quality issue and dreadful service from Mororrad when it came to dealing with a rotting frame and subframe. Sorted eventually but no bike for several months over a the summer and many visits to the dealer. I was blatantly lied to as part of the process. My local Honda dealer is dire too from my time with a Varadero XL 1000. I loved the bike but it never came out from a service without damage of some sort. Hmmm.
Its a great bike, an you've highlighted a problem the manufacturers have. The service people get from the dealer is often the lasting one they have of the brand. Some dealers are better than others but they are independent of the manufacturer and no matter how much influence they try to impose, if the dealer wants to offer poor service, thats what they'll do
Thank you for this excellent review. I’m considering to change my KTM 1290 Super Aventure R for an Africa Twin standard DCT, but I’m a bit afraid to miss the incredible power the KTM has. Will the Africa Twin be very far down below in the excitement département?
The best motorbike reviewer on YT. Thank you for your excellent videos with honest opinions. Now, 'if' I had the money it would be a hard choice between the Africa Twin Adventure Sport and the new KTM 1290. I have not ridden either, but I think the KTM edges it for me.

Hi Tony, I have an Explorer 1200 , been happy with it upto a point, and I’ve ridden the older AF Twin in South Africa, bit underpowered on tarmac, great on trails.. loved its seat and bars, with a pillion on it was good for handling even off road... the Explorer would have been too too heavy, so my question is.. Is the DCT base model good enough, or would the Sport model be better for longer distances and more off road gravel tracks?

Just watched this yet again, Tony. In Thailand, the CRF1100L is the same price as the 790 Adventure R. It makes me wonder. Which one would you prefer? I reckon the CRF would look better with a high mudguard.
It’s a really hard call as these are my two favourite Adventure bikes, but for different reasons. I have seen the Honda with a high mudguard and it does look pretty damn good. ua-cam.com/video/wiT9vfmwZn0/v-deo.html
The Adventure sport has more kit on it for sure, the electronic suspension and cornering lights are good. Although the bigger tank offers more range, it does add more bulk. I’d pick the standard and spend some money on accessories I think
@@mancavemoto I am selling my current bike's and saving for buying an AT but i am doubting which one and DCT or manual transmission... I love the looks of the adventure tricolor but i will use the bike also for some offroad and not much for far distance travel so maybe the standard one wil be better for me and as you say spend more on upgrades. And do you prefer the DCT more than manual? :) Sorry for my english, greetings from Belgium!
After 8500 miles... I like the DCT, but sometimes jerky and makes dowshift during acceleration only when you use full throttle. The electronics/infotainment system is horried the weakest point. The daschboard far from the top class. The lamps are disappointment. On bad roads has a rattling sound from the front which I cant kill yet. ;)
Thanks for the info, i've not had any jerky changes, sometimes the engine braking with a downshift can give that impression. I think the dashboard is one of the clearest out there, with the new KTM ones. The controls may be less intuitive, but the display is fine for me. Shame you've got a rattle, hope you find the source.
That’s a really difficult question and one I’ve been going back and forth on. I love both bikes, but for different reasons. The 790 is lighter and more nimble, I’m a bit more confident on it in the dirt and it’s great fun to ride. The Honda is bigger and heavier but is a better mile muncher. I’m getting more confident off road too. If comparing manual bikes only, I’d go for the KTM (and probably an 890) but the DCT gearbox elevates the Honda somewhat. I’m being really honest when I say it’s hard for me to choose between the too. One thing to further consider is that the ktm is cheaper and I have a good dealer on my doorstep,
First time I've seen the automated video showing the design of this DTC transmission. In a mere few seconds, it shows that this is going to work, & last ...I don't know why in this day & age, manufacturers continue to deem the public incapable of making these judgments ..I'm thinking that %50 or more bike riders will do their own maintenance ,& a overall picture of what they are maintaining is critical... As an example of nonexistent, or hilarious manufacturer maintenance instructions., I hold up 45 years + of complicated antics, said necessary to" check"valve clearances., on any brand ....Most of the time the owner can just put the bike in top gear ., loosen (without removing) the spark plugs, & bump the engine forward until the cam lobes point away from the lifters or rockers ,(whatever the case)... Instead they show the most complicated intensely technical way they they can...I propose the next automated video, should show what you are looking to see ., 2 frames , one right, & one wrong way to do this "check"., It will sell more bikes. Just like this previously unseen DTC video did for me!
If it’s in the right mode the throttle is nice and soft and you can use the rear brake to modulate much like feathering the clutch. It’s not the same, but it doesn’t suck
DCT should be available for all bikes.Cheers.
Cheers Bruce

I did a short test ride and wasn't all that impressed because I didn't get a chance to understand all the ride modes. But I bought it anyway. After 3000 miles I can say it's a awesome bike. Like many people I won't do anymore than probably gravel roads. My longest day so far is 475 miles with the help of a couple different seat cushions. To me the seat leaves something to be desired. With a good seat I've thought I could probably put on as many miles in a day as my 2019 Goldwing that has the (stock seat for now. )
I need to get back out to California and get a Russell seat built for the AT . Before the whole state burns up🔥
so the test ride couldn't have been that bad ;) I am thinking about putting a 'cool cover' on it to help with airflow
Great review, probably the best one I have watched. You covered everything with some extra advice on the bluetooth trick too.
No problem, thanks Drew
I’m considering purchasing an Africa and your review was very informative. Well done and thank you.
No problem, glad it was useful
I’ve been using pyramid stuff for 25 yrs , good products , cheers for the review Shane uk 🇬🇧

I'm late to the party but great review. I picked up my '21 Africa Twin Adventure Sports DCT last Monday. Amazing machine! Cheers. 🍻
Not late to the party at all. Thanks
Cheers Peter that’s good to hear, nowt wrong with the crf1000
I have the 2019 ADV Sports DCT and the only thing I would sell it for is a DCT TransAlp that may or may not happen! A 750 version of this bike would be amazing! That 750 ADV scooter you can't get in the US would be a game changer for many people as well! I hear a lot of complaints on why DCT isn't offered on the 500 that would also be a great ADV option!
Thanks for a most useful video. I particularly enjoyed the detailed discussion of the DCT system.
No problem, glad it was useful
8 days to go until I pick up my 2021 tricolour Africa Twin DCT Adventure Sport. I just can't wait. Thanks for your review.
Nice! a great colour scheme too. Enjoy!
You are fast becoming my favourite bike reviewer, well done keep it up.
That’s nice to hear, thanks Nigel
I thought this was your personal bike. Excellent review, Tony. A great bike, for sure. It costs a bit too much, but I am attracted by the DCT.
Cheers Bud, yep it’s a bit of cash to shell out, but seems inline with the competition?
Your onboard audio quality is spectacular!
Thanks
Thank you for the video. I have mine coming in soon. You answered multiple personal questions I could not locate in others.
Glad I could help, enjoy the bike!
@@mancavemoto its the longest wait of my life it feels. 😅
Beautiful camera setup
Thank you
That's a fair review based on the bike and the bike alone. I enjoyed it, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Should really come with heated seats also! 😂
What a top review. I have a X ADV dct which I love but lacks a bit if power so this might well be a good way to go. Many thanks
Not the same bike but my latest buy- CBR 600 f has really surprised me. Honda’s are not boring (to the likes of me anyway) and way exceed my talents. Build quality and ride are fantastic and in black-looks great.
Yep if boring gets you a 20% market share then thats not too bad. But as you say I don't find it boring, its a lovely bike to ride
great and crispy review . no unwanted seconds in this video
Cheers, I try to keep them concise
@@mancavemoto this is what we need ..to the point explanation
Will be getting mine this coming October after all lockdown craziness ends. Super excited to ride!
Nice! Its a great bike and as you can tell, I love it!
Another great review Tony 👍🏻👏🏻. I’m thinking of getting one of these and you have probably made up my mind!
Cool, glad the video was useful
I have the e/s dct adventure sports version best bike I’ve ever owned little heavy for me or I’m not big enough haven’t managed to drop it yet. I’m an all year rider the bike has stalled twice at really low pull off speeds in the 11000 miles I’ve covered apart from that no issues at all. I have a Yamaha tracer 900 gt also but that tends to spend most of the time in the shed.
Thanks for the info
Love your video lots of info and very clear to the rider. Thank you
No problem
Never realised you were testing a "Big Lad" Tony, but loved your honest review (as always). After years of exile I "met" my big lad in April, and have already put Conti Trail attack 3's (puncture in the Metzeler rear) and just received my Givi 30l top box 2 days ago - so following your pattern mate..... It was Richy's trip to Scotland last year that made my choice for me !. Ride safe brother 👍
‘Big Red’ but close enough 😂 you too Paul
@@mancavemoto Funny really Tony, as I have names for my bikes, which I know is not your mantra as you mention here. In the past, my OWN nickname was “Big Red”, but God has made me more aerodynamic these days 🤓. The process by which I chose the Twin as my daily rider (after 40 years without owning one) was truly insane, but I already owned “Ronnie”, so my big lad is known as Reg or Reggie. One day mate I’ll tell you the story over a beer. Love your channel Tony - cracking mate. Solid advice every single time. Not been a single comment from your channel that I disagreed with,. Keep safe mate 👍
Literally just did the paperwork for a 2021 adventure sport dct which has all the things you said you wish that one had, I’ve not even seen it put together yet and can barely contain myself
Nice, enjoy the bike!
Yeah i fell in love with AT too. Its fantastic. Just have decide if to go for DCT or clutch version as want green lane too. Great review
It’s an easy thing to do. DCT is good for general green Lane use too. Cheers
Good well rounded review, I enjoyed it.
Cheers Mark
I wish they had it in the CBX500.
yes, once you get in tune with it, its a brilliant thing
Enjoyed your review, I have just bought an ATAS with DCT.
Hah, me too! Picking it up next week.
Nice, enjoy!
I bought a $20 Bluetooth adapter on Amazon to bypass the CarPlay safety lockout on my ‘21 Goldwing because I like riding without a helmet. Works great!
Thanks for sharing
*The Girl On A Bike* has proven the excellent accessibility of this bike in very challenging off-road conditions. It's a really versatile platform which can convey you very long distances on tarmac fully loaded in total comfort all the way to your favourite dirt rides and the engine's relatively lowish state of tune means Honda's traditional reliability is more or less guaranteed.
Absolutely
I have a 21-plate Tiger Rally Pro. Have to say I’m a bit disappointed with it. Feels very heavy to manhandle, gives me hellish bum ache after an hour, and, most annoying, the gearbox/clutch/quick shifter setup leaves me cold. I’ve ridden bikes for 45 years 😳, and this is the first one I’ve struggled to get consistently smooth gear changes on. Covered 3500 miles on it already, but it still doesn’t feel natural. Should have tried a DCT 🤔.....
Great review.......
Cheers Murdo, yep hard to compare the two bikes they come at the same idea from two different directions
That’s a bummer to hear, I feel like the Tiger 900 Rally Pro is one of the better transmissions out there. The quick shifts are seriously spot on. 100% smooth. Maybe needs some adjustment?
Great review I brought the AT adventure sport black came from a zzr1400 took the AT for an hrs spin loved it 😁
Cheers, enjoy youur AT!
Great Review! Just want to know if you can compare BMW GS850 Adv and your recommendation!
I will try! its just a case of trying to get hold of one.
No revbomb, seems like a good feature for intelligent riders.
True, but sometimes tunnels happen 😉😏😂
Nice review on this bike, Cheers from Saskatchewan Canada
Thanks! 👍
Great review and mirrors my own take on the bike. It’s got it all.
Thanks! 👍
Great review, thanks for your presentation. Excellent.
Thanks for watching
Great, thorough review! God Bless!
Thank you kindly!
Great review, thanks! I like that LeoVince T-shirt! Can’t find it anywhere.
Cheers Carl, thE t-shirt was a freebie from them, not sure if they sell them?
Great Review 👍 i will try the africa, hope its tall enough... 190 cm.
And Hondas are not boring... CBR1100XX, VTR SP, FIREBLADE😎👍 cheers
I hope it is too, let me know how you get on
Excellent review. Beautiful looking bike.
Thanks
Thank you for the great review Tony. Looks like a really fine job that Honda did with this machine. I got to admit that as i'm riding along with you, your route looks a bit scary. Your roads look as big as some of our bicycle path's over here in the U.S.. Maybe in reality there a bit wider. At least your safer on this bike than the Zero since they can here you coming (lol). Anyway keep having fun & keep entertaining us. Your friend across the pond. Illinois,USA
They sure did Larry. Yes some of the lanes are pretty narrow! Cheers, Ride Safe
Agree with you 100%
The AT IS A GOAT BIKE IN ITS CLASS!
Its definitely a bike thats much more than the some of its parts
I had a 2019 DCT and I couldn't get into it. I tried to off-road the bike and it was way too twitchy at low speed (1st gear). It's hard to recover from a lunge because you don't have a clutch. I tried to ride the bike in manual mode but it just didn't work for me. I ended up trading the bike 6 months later for a 2020 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE and I'm now having way more fun when off-roading.
I do think the IMU in the 2020 model onwards makes a difference, but there is also off road and 'off road'. Enjoy the scram
Thanks, yes a bit less weight or lowering the centre of gravity would help.
Really good review, you covered everything, I hope you manage to get one, great if you get the press bike, all the best👍
Cheers Geoff
I enjoyed that review. Good work
Thanks Lyle
Great review thanks. I really value the insights you give after a lengthy ‘ownership’ Sounds like the imu has brought the dct up a couple of levels. Seems you didn’t feel any lack of power - was there enough grunt.?
Thanks Mike, yep the IMU seems to have ironed out the few kinks in the dct. Plenty of grunt, which is why I had to cut from the Speedo view a couple of times! 😉
That bike sounds so good & such a good straightforward review! 👍👍💯%
Some dealers are better than others but they are independent of the manufacturer and no matter how much influence they try to impose, if the dealer wants to offer poor service, thats what they'll do
Love the AT! Nice review!
Cheers, Thanks for watching!

Thank you for this excellent review. I’m considering to change my KTM 1290 Super Aventure R for an Africa Twin standard DCT, but I’m a bit afraid to miss the incredible power the KTM has. Will the Africa Twin be very far down below in the excitement département?
Still an exciting bike, just not as raw as the KTM.
Excellent review. Cheers!
Thanks
The best motorbike reviewer on YT. Thank you for your excellent videos with honest opinions.
Now, 'if' I had the money it would be a hard choice between the Africa Twin Adventure Sport and the new KTM 1290. I have not ridden either, but I think the KTM edges it for me.
High praise indeed, thankyou. Yes a tough call between those two
Nice overview, I wonder what kind of maintenance is needed for DCT
None it seems, but i hate to think how much it would cost to repair if it goes wrong!
Well put together review. Always enjoy your vids. By the way how’s the quad lock anti vibration add on working out?
Thanks, yep it seems to be doing it’s job!
There is a cheaper version of quad lock available in Aliexpress which is more shock resistant compared with brand quad lock with anti vibration kit altogether. There is a video available in UA-cam comparing both . Cheers
Really good report lot of information
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great review thanks a lot!
My pleasure!

Another good review.
I appreciate that
Will probably get one due to arthritis in the hands which is not clutch lever friendly!

Curious - what jacket are you wearing?
Thanks, it’s a Klim Drifter jacket

Greeeeat bike! Great video! Hallo from balkan 🖐😎 One question...is it posibble to achieve 70mpg at 50mph constant speed .. easy relax solo ride without the panniers on the nice flat asphalt road?? I m 179 100kg
Hi, I don't think you'd get to 70mpg, high 50's maybe even into 60's. But having said that its not something i've tried
Loved the review, great presentation!
I don't know about your other viewers but I'd be very interested in your thoughts upon the X-ADV vs the Africa Twin in regards to DCT and performance 😊
I have an X-ADV review coming up very soon. The DCT on it is great, not quite as flexible as on the AT, but stil very very good
@@mancavemoto I'll definitely keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the heads up 😊👍

Great review.. Quick question, what brand Bluetooth earbuds are those at 11:30?
They are from Ultimate Hearing Protection and I can't recommend them enough! The ones in this video are actually the wired ones, but heres my video on the bluetooth version ua-cam.com/video/rKrgJcq_Shs/v-deo.html

Hi Bob, The adventure sports has a bigger tank and therefore a longer range. For off road I think the standard has an edge
Greetings from oregon usa i ride a honda xr650l i also have a 1974 bmw r60/6 and a harley softail i bought new now with 64000 miles the honda was in 2019 the honda is now my go to bike now with 10,000 miles i freaking love it my wife is a harley girl wont ride off road hates the old bmw she says the clyinders are wrong lol, im looking real hard at honda africa and bmw gs both preowned if i can make her comfy on the honda there doesn't seam to be info out with two up riding we do long distance also what do you think about the honda two up any one looking for a harley and old bmw
I think the AT is fine two up, the pillion seat is a pretty decent size, but I'd add the Honda grab rail to the bike as well
Just exchanged my 2020 manual AT 1000 for the same bike
Nice!
I think Alt Rider make one too
@@mancavemoto Thanks for that link, mate.
@@mancavemoto I think the weight of the KTM and the fact it's carried so low will be the determining factor for me.
Great video!
Which do you like the most, the standard one or the Adventure sport?
The Adventure sport has more kit on it for sure, the electronic suspension and cornering lights are good. Although the bigger tank offers more range, it does add more bulk. I’d pick the standard and spend some money on accessories I think
@@mancavemoto
I am selling my current bike's and saving for buying an AT but i am doubting which one and DCT or manual transmission...
I love the looks of the adventure tricolor but i will use the bike also for some offroad and not much for far distance travel so maybe the standard one wil be better for me and as you say spend more on upgrades.
And do you prefer the DCT more than manual? :)
Sorry for my english, greetings from Belgium!
Yes, good thinking. I prefer the DCT it’s a revelation. No worries your English is better than my French/Dutch!
Great review
Thanks
Hi Tony, knowing what you know now after riding the Africa Twin, what would you choose between the Africa Twin and the KTM 790 adv ?
Cheers
DCT sucks at low speeds on single dirt lanes when you have to go super low & you cant feather the clutch,.
If it’s in the right mode the throttle is nice and soft and you can use the rear brake to modulate much like feathering the clutch. It’s not the same, but it doesn’t suck
