  • Out of all of the reactions to the recent announcement of the Atlas HO Modern Commuter Train, the one that pops up the most is, "Where can I learn more about it?" To make things easier, the lead designer on the project at Atlas, VP of Product Development Rob Pisani, has compiled an informative video that details the history of the locomotive and cars that make up the train.
    Of course the next question we get most is, "Where can I buy it?" Fortunately, we've answered that one in the video as well with a listing at the end of every Atlas dealer who had pre-ordered the product from us. Give them a call and they'll be happy to help you out.

    Atlas you have ventured into a big part that is lacking nowadays. There are many commuter modelers. I have every product of this NJT series on order. Please consider Comets (with a Comet V cab), ALP-46 and PL42AC. As stated many of us would love some of the GP40PH/FH's. You can make a killing with the Comet cars for a multitude of railroads. Please keep up the good work. If you ever do Arrow III's, I'll take out a pension loan!

    Now if Atlas was to release a GP40P in NJDOT, CNJ and NJTransit I'd be first in line to buy one.

    please make the comet V cars!!! None makes them and it is so frustrating trying to build a NJT model railway because they are such a key feature :(

    I hope there's a plan to make them in N scale and in Montreal's AMT. I would definitely buy both sets if you do 😉.

    The bad thing about the atlas model is that they didn't produce a ALP-45 heritage unit HO scale

    What interests me so much is why it can carry more multilevel cars in electric mode instead of diesel, especially since it is longer than its purely electric cousin?

  • @ethangggrant6973
    @ethangggrant6973 5 років тому

    So in diesel mode it can the maximum tall cars it can pull is 8 wow I'm impressed

    Amt got these LOCOMOTIVES in 2011 and it's quiet these look the same

    • @SouthJerseyRailfan
      @SouthJerseyRailfan 3 роки тому

      they are the same, the only difference is the plow on the AMT version is wider due to AMT not having the third rail clearance issue NJT has

      Atlas has since announced another run of the multi-levels including 2 new numbers for the cab cars and lots of the trailer cars including the heritage painted ones. At the same time, they also announced another run of ALP45DP’s to go with the bi-levels cars. Atlas has added 4 new numbers for the ALP45’s including EL heritage 4519.

    Atlas already made the ALP44 a while back and another release recently. All that needs to be done now is the GP40PH-2, GP40FH-2, the ALP46 and the PL42AC.

    • @cab4
      @cab4 8 років тому +1

      IHP has GP40FH-2s readily available as shells compatible with GP40 frames from Atlas or Athearn.
      Resin kits of the ALP46 and PL42AC are produced by Island Model Works.
      The GP40PH-2 is the only tough on. It only exists as super rare brass.

    • @wolfgang548
      @wolfgang548 8 років тому

      Only one problem with the Island Model Works PL42AC shell is no one makes a frame with matching trucks and fuel tank. It's a one of a kind locomotive.

    • @cab4
      @cab4 8 років тому

      +wolfgang548 Island model works provides a frame with Stewart parts, and the side Fram and fuel tank castings. I know, I own them. I also have the weird flat bar frame they produced fir a while.

    I just want to know are the horns on the sound units going to sound absolutly terrible dragged out and choked just like the real ones? I want the full experience.

    • @ErieLimited
      @ErieLimited 8 років тому

      That's the plan! We recorded two different "choked out" NJT horns when making ALP-45 recordings with ESU a few weeks ago.

    • @Approach_Medium
      @Approach_Medium 8 років тому

      Good! They need to come with a speed table set up with dead spots on the low range so when I make station stops or take off from a stop it runs the slack in and out and bangs everyone around too. lol

  • @cab4

    The only true home to the ALP45DP is the Montclair Boonton line. There there all the time, other than the normal PL42AC’s and sometimes GP40-2B. Check it out on my channel

    Bombardier could've gave the ALP-45DP a F40PH-like nose. I like the loco, I'm just not much of a fan with it comes to slanted cab locomotives.
