I had to check my logbook it was so long ago. 9/27/1975. It was a nice, hard, oil rolled strip 3000' long. There was a steel Butler building there, where we 3 fisherman spent the night. Lockheed built it for the flight testing of there rigid rotor copter. We departed the next morning at 5 AM, 24 degrees. Used every inch of runway with 3 guys and camping gear. I had about 90 hours logged. That's my only excuse. Glad you got to roll your wheels there too!

My grandpa who lived in bishop used to watch the military test helicopters lifting heavy weights back in the day.

This is amazing Dustin, I can’t believe it doesn’t have more views - you don’t get enough credit for the massive cojones.

Glad you posted that. I was out there with my 4x4 and frankly it didn't look like much of a landing strip. Would have been great to see someone land it.

I'm impressed you were able to get a Cessna 140 up to that altitude. I wonder if you'd landed if your take off roll would have been makeable.

That's not toooo far away from us at E45. I should try it in the SuperSTOL on some cool morning.

Wow--neat experience. What was the OAT when you did the Touch and Go?

Did you actually fly over it on 4/1/20? I am thinking about an off road trip there but was worried about the amount of snow.
