What a fantastic addition to the Scott Pilgrimiverse ! I love just how bold they brought this series in a complete different direction. As a creator myself, I 100% understand why Bryan wouldn't feel like redoin the exact same story he spent almost a decade finishing for the past 20 years. Keeping things fresh while keeping his merry rogue gallery of lovely jerks was definitely a great move to keep the creative juice flowing. Respect for not being afraid to risk losing half of his audience with this elaborate prank (but frankly, if people were pissed, then that only means they only latched on the work and never got the prankster spirit of the author).
At first I was a little disappointed with the direction the series took, but after viewing it a second time, and watching/reading some interviews, I grew to really appreciate what he has created. it is very bold, and very meta.
I read Lost at Sea recently, and I think it's really good. I ended up loving it more than Scott Pilgrim, fascinating to see Bryan make Scott Pilgrim as a result of trying to get an opposite reaction to the reception of Lost at Sea
"romana flowers vs the universe"@@digijune5323that would have been the perfect title. They needed to market this show better than they did. And i don't giver a flying fuck about interviews Brian did, because I'm not going to fallow every creator interview. I did however watch the trailers and clips that were intentionally misleading. It was a bait and switch, and you only do that if you don't have confidence in their story.
Did you even watch it😭 you won’t understand the new series if you haven’t read the books. It’s extremely brilliant work, and like another commenter said, immense creative courage. Scott Pilgrim is a foundation in my upbringing, I am freshly entering adulthood and am so thankful to have another Scott pilgrim to add to my foundation. There is nothing ‘stupid’ about creating pure excellence.

Lies is Ramona Takes Off.
nah, scott definitely takes off in this
The title is a double entendre, one that does NOT work if you title it "Ramona Takes Off" lmao
another fan forgetting what takes off mean lmao

This guy has become a hack now, literally pulls the hideaki ano thing and kevin heart thing
Imagine making a anime but don’t use the source material literally so stupid
Fresh content after 13 years is pretty nice

Brian wanted to do something different because he is not the same dude from 20 years ago, and it turned out to be a good decision.
