- Today I want to address another question from your guys: Do I recommend sunscreen pills ? Like the ones from Heliocare or similar brands? I mean, if you can just pop a pill and add to your sun protection, wouldn’t that be great? Or are these sunscreen pills actually dangerous?
Let´s talk!

Have you ever tried these pills?
@@liayesung5721 No, I haven´t as I said in the video.
@@liayesung5721 I bet they are a nice addition, my concern is only that people migth think they actually need less SPF because they took them.
You're the best doctor :)
Thank you.
Heliocare was recommended to me for solar urticaria. Sunscreen doesn’t help me.
I read about it but I didn’t feel right about taking it. I was worried about the fern triggering my asthma. I have plenty of pollen allergies.
I know that fern plants give off spores.
I treat both naturopathic and modern medicine with the same degree of respect.
Inhaling pollen and taking pills is a different mechanism, so it could work, but in the end it is up to you to decide what you feel comfortable doing.
"Can we blame the company for the stupidity of the people? Yes we can- to an extent" That honesty is so much appreciated!😁
🤗
I would say to every extent. Brands rely of people's lack of knowledge to mislead them and make money. And even the most knowledgeable of people cannot know everything, so we rely on others, that's social cooperation that's the foundation of our civilization. It's impossible to know everything, so it's not stupidity what makes people trust brand's claims, it's our nature. I hate hate so much how brands play with claims to imply stuff, deceive consumers, get the money and be free of responsibility because they "never claimed anything". I don't know anything about supplements but going back to cosmetics, claims are supposedly well regulated... Not enough in my opinion.
@@daniela9488 Yes, there is the problem with these regulations being actually enforced. It doesn´t help to just have them. And for stupidity - it was a little polemic probably, but I really wish common sense would be applied to cosmetic purchases as well.
@@DoctorAnne I do agree that people can be stupid 😅
Dr. I would like to ask..does omega 3 fatty acids blocks the absorption of glutathione?
Not to my knowledge, but that is not my area of expertise.
@@DoctorAnne ok
Actually I thought u made a video on sunscreen pills ..so u must be having some knowledge abt glutathione and omega 3 fatty acids
@@prpattani7876 Have you watched the video? It is about antioxidant pills. What makes you think I must have knowledge about glutathione and omega 3 fatty acids?
Do heliocare supplements reduce hyperpigmentation?
They might be part of a sun protection strategy that in turn reduces hyperpigmentation, but not on their own, no.
This may even be worse than using an antioxidant serum as sunscreen 🤔
I agree. But not by much.
If we are looking at them not as sunscreen pills but to improve melasma, can they do that?
They are designed to help mitigate sun damage, and melasma is influenced by the sun. It also is heavily influenced by hormones and such, so while they, like regular sunscreen and avoiding the sun etc., might help a little, they won’t cure it on their own.
@@DoctorAnne Thank you so much for the answer. I am using a lot of sunscreen, I'm not on the pill anymore because of the melasma and I use every cream on earth (c, retinol, alpha arbutin, peelings, brightening creams, Hydroquinone (which was the only thing that helped a bit - but now it's back), tried laser treatments and now I ordered Tranexamic Acid Night Treatment) for the last year and nothing helped the melasma to fade. Maybe this pills will help a bit... I have nothing else left to try. Thanks again!
@@mia_bell Fingers crossed.
@@DoctorAnne Does this mean they will stop/reduce melanin production? So help keep brighter skin? Or since it's melanin that protects the skin from sun, would they boost melanin production for protection?
@@zainabj8590 No, they would not boost melanin production, they are antioxidants. They help against melanin production triggers is the best way to describe it.
It baffles and angers me how can a brand get away with products like that. Because they hide in the nuances of semantics to lead people on without breaking the law. So irresponsible, sneaky and dishonest.
I agree. Absolutely unethical.

The benefits have been proven with science
Interesting…. Dr Dray speaks pretty highly of these products.
Yes, but only as addition to liberal sun protection - my criticism is that the way they are marketed they are easy to misunderstand as replacement rather than addition, or that if you take them you are less diligent with reapplication bc you feel extra protected. Liberal sunscreen application, sun smart behavior and frequent reapplication are important, which is something Dr. Dray states over and over on her channel as well.
Never heard of it until now.😱
I think I'll pass!
I rather have the tomatoes too.
First time in my life I hear about such pills...... wow
I hadn´t heard about them until now as well.
Doctor can i use vitamin c serum after using cosrx 96 snail mufin essence? My age is 19
You can and that does not depend on your age.
Lol, I thought this video was going to be about products that lead to/or don’t lead to sunscreen pilling. Yes ... we Americans have a lot of “work” to do, so agree lol 😂🙄!!! But thank you for looking into it or us.
Oh, I didn’t even think about sunscreen pilling - the absolute worst!
