Looks fantastic. I used Luftwaffe blue for my FJ guys, and while it is kind of bright I found that it darkens down with a coat of Sonic Tonic and looks ok. Nice one!
I love these new Winter Fallschirmjager models! They are great for any Winter German since every branch of the German military wore that type of parka. Pretty much any head on one of these bodies painted any shade of white, mouse gray, field gray or camo is correct! Just depends on what you want it to be!
The figures look fantastic! This is one I will be watching again as I always wanted to paint German figures in a winter scheme. Thanks for sharing this.
Would that I could! It's a lot to plan and pay for when I don't have a lot of time for more than a day or two in Nottingham, so I won't be there this year, unfortunately. I'm hoping to make it one year at least!
So you were able to paint both the new Warlord 's sprues in less than a week, well done !👍 These new minis are perfect not only for Ardennes, but also for Eastern Front, and the paint scheme is useful also for Heer troops.
We are taught to do the same thing even today with our canteens in the US Marines. Dunk the entire canteen pouch when you fill up the canteen and your water will stay cool.
I was adamant that when I started playing BA I wouldn't get a German army (been playing british commandos and paratroopers, also used your guides to paint mine, even won best painted army for my commandos at our first local gameclub tournament!) buuuut....the way you painted these guys up mate is fantastic and I have now ordered myself a couple of boxes of them as well as the paints to go with them 🤓 Keep up the good work mate!
I always thought that "Luftwaffe Uniform" just didn't look right on my ground troops, the Field Blue looks much better and more appropriate for front line use.
Since I subcribed, I have been using a slightly different version of marine Juice With Vallejo products. Far better than a single shade, as you recommended. Thank you a lot!
Great to hear it's been working! A little tweak here and there to suit your purpose is exactly what I hope to hear folks are doing with these tips and tricks.
very nice, i'm normally not a fan of edge highlighting but that's very well done. I'd quite like to see you tackle these with one coat paints as well, just to compare and see how well it can be done. Also if using something like watered down strong tone, could you suggest an approximate mixing ratio?
Hey man! Love the video! I'm about to paint my Winter Fallschirmjager... Do you thin down Sonic Tonic in addition to the mix? Or, is the mix you used in this video as you mixed it?
Do you upload most of your videos in the order you paint your minis or is it a bit more random? You jumping from ancients to WW2 to Space Fantasy is amazing for me. I find it so hard to wrap my head around how to paint a mini that I try and stick to a certain set of them before moving on to something else
Looks great! While looking into bolt action more I think I'll avoid the German army as the names like many things in IKEA, looks like someone dropped a horde of alphabet letters on the floor.
What's the name of the varnish you use, again? I'm, likely due to my bad hearing, not catching it in the video. I didn't see it in the description either, though I may just be looking wrong
I noticed you didn’t paint eyes on these models and Americans as well, yet the faces still look so great and detailed! So looks like it’s on purpose I wanted to ask do you recommend do not paint eyes on such small miniatures and focus on a skin tone instead? Or it depends on a mood of painter?:)
It's really a matter of personal taste. Painting eyes can look great, but it's much easier for everything to go wrong and have your guys with huge, staring eyeballs. At the kind of distances these scales represent when we're standing over the table, you ordinarily wouldn't see someone's eyes anyway, so as long as you've got the eye socket shaded and maybe a little highlight on the brow, it's plenty to imply the shape of the eye.
Awesome job. I’m torn, i want to play Germans but committing to an army in winter uniforms feels like a leap for me. But then again there’s value in the new box set… any advice ?
In the mix? In short, if you want to make a container of it, not really: Nuln Oil in particular isn't as strong as it used to be and is a bit weedy by comparison. You'd be better to just use Agrax and thin it with some Lahmian medium instead. I go into quite a bit of detail on it in this earlier video about the mix: ua-cam.com/video/kDOkiEcNcik/v-deo.html
Whenever I'm down I watch you paint Germans and it makes me feel better. Thanks.
Having had an obsession with Where Eagles Dare - this might go close to Richard Burtons alpine uniform.

40k hobbyist here. This is exactly what I'm looking for to paint my Wolf Scouts. Great video. Cheers. 👍

Can't beat a 2B pencil for metalic effects.
These guys look great. I really love the look of that white-washed helmet. I keep waiting for that Apothecary White 5 O'clock shadow to show up again.
The power of The Tonic™. Cheers!

Planning to have one last (very big, 1500 pts!) game of Bolt Action tomorrow to bid adieu to 2nd edition before scrubbing the brain and learning 3rd!
That sonic tonic is the business! And those trousers look stunning. Nice
I really can't wait for my guys to ship. Will definitely follow this guide to help paint them.
Spot on that buddy. One of your best yet if you don't mind me saying so. See you at Warlord Open Day if you're there! Keep up the good work.

Sweat sleeves on water bottle worked really well in summertime. As the water evaporates off the felt it pulls heat our of the bottle.
That's handy to know!
Have an old British ww2 canteen that works the same way.

@@jonathanbirkeland1085 ah yeah. Is it the felt lined pouch?
Green grey is another cool color for some uniforms. Applied it on 2 minis with details and such, and they look amazing!
Looking fabulous.
Thank you! Cheers!

Best painted army? Now that's a mark on the score card for sure. :D Congratulations!
Loving these, i have some spare heads of normal plastic BA FJs to make them more diverse

It's an easy one to get caught up on, too!
Just wow incredible job as always.

Wish Warlord would send me some sprues....hint hint Warlord 😉. Excellent work as always and this will be a useful guide to me eventually. 👍
Brilliant Troy!!
I didn't know the Fallschirmjaeger winter was a thing tell I done some research on them.

Almost always in the order they're painted. I'm not organized enough to scattershot them this much. 😅
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio in that case I am truly impressed by ypur ability to go from one colour scheme to the next in this short amount of time
helmet looks great
fantastisch!! Great work and just in time for V3 winter battles!! It seems snow themes are trending.. ⛄️ 👍
Personally, I just wish it were winter already... I do much better in the cold!
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio I hear that! I’m very much the same!
Where is the Macragge Blue? 😂
Looking awesome 👌
Somewhere at Warlord HQ!
@SonicSledgehammerStudio my Fallschrimjager offices are definitely being named Gulliman and Calgar

Whoops! I thought I had written it in the description, but it turns out you're not missing anything, I'd just forgotten. It's Instar's Varnish+.
Thank you!
I've been needing to find a varnish to grab, now that I'm finally making paint progress.
And great stuff it is to
How well do arms in other kits work with these figures. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of options for most of the weapons.
There is actually a kanvas color from vallejo
