Very nice Tutorial! I don't agree that the riff doesn't work with the pick, it definitely does! But I agree that it's probably more clean and groovy without one.
there is a way to use a pick but just for the lower strings. You'll have to use your other 3 fingers for plucking the other strings. Its different but it can sound very nice, esspecially when you're playing solo, it can bring out the bass notes a little bit more
