I do very well in operations in NM. I'm a BB player and I love it. Love getting close quarters award in this!

If you always take the 2nd grade fire control your dispersion increase at all ranges..dont upgrade and see the difference in shots..

I gotta comment on your opinion that the American Standards are garbage battleships. They're not. They're only garbage when you force them into a playstyle they're not designed to support.
I've been following your channel for a while, and I've noticed you prefer a lone-wolf hit-and-run style who likes min-maxing your stats, and this just isn't what they're set up to do. The American BBs are Jack-of-all-trades that really shine in the support role, especially if you div up.
So it's less a problem with the ships as it is an incompatibility with your preferred style.

      Which is a fair point.
My biggest struggle with the standards is that my preferred play style is "winning" and they generally don't lend themselves to contributing to that. I could tolerate them being slow... if they hit what they aimed at. I could tolerate them being somewhat inaccurate... if the gun reload meant I could throw a decent number of shells to make up for the terrible accuracy (see also: Fuso). But the combination of bad accuracy, bad speed, and bad gun reload just ruins them for me. When you actually hit things with New Mexico, it feels like it happened more on accident than on purpose.
I gave up caring about my stats a long time ago. I used to be one of those dudes who checked his win rate and average damage numbers every day. Those days are long behind me. When I play, my goal is to contribute to a win. If my team wins and I was useless, that sometimes feels worse than a loss.

@@SeaRaptor that is where our differences lie. I stopped caring a long time ago. I like to play WoWs for the thrill of the moment, sailing around artillery canoes and having a blast watching the other guy go boom. Winning is just the icing on the cake (that being said I do at least try to win). I'm mostly just here because I'm a big navy nerd.

Funny how your teams destoryers all hid in back like little wimps ! lol Don't play a destoryer if you don't go in front and spot for your team and help cap !

    Uhrm, New Mexico isn't bad...
...the captain is the problem. You just don't like having to play the way New Mexico and Colorado have to be played. That does NOT make them bad. That makes them 'not fun' for you.
    There is a difference.
If you don't like being left behind, don't sail to the map edge in a USN Standard...
...also, light cruisers do NOT counter DDs...especially at tiers without radar. What is he going to do? He can't outspot the DD either.

I've been watching searaptor for a while and I've noticed he doesn't like bb gameplay in general. He prefers the dash-in-and-blindside-your-enemy tactics of destroyers, and since most bb lines are set up to be mid-to-long range sluggers they don't mesh well with his prefered style.
Notice how he says he likes Incomparable, the bb with the biggest guns and lowest stealth in the game?

idk man, im not experienced player but combination of short range, terrible speed and bad dispersion made me hate this hit, colorado was way better and now im enjoying north carolina. Its just my opinion tho

"Don't sail to the map edge" is another way of saying "sit in the middle of the map and get focused out by 4+ ships, since you can't escape with your 20 knot speed". Battleships tend to play map edges early for a reason: going to the middle means you die a whole lot faster.
Light cruisers absolutely counter DDs at all tiers, radar or not. There are a non-zero number of light cruisers who are faster than DDs in their respective tiers, and even if a particular ship isn't, simply having a light cruiser around will keep a DD from pushing in for torp runs and brazenly engaging a battleship with a 35 (!!!!) second reload with his main battery.

There are plenty of battleships I enjoy. The fat, slow, inaccurate American standards aren't on that list. Both German lines are fun, some of the Italians (Veneto, yuck), high tier Americans, etc. The Brit and French BBs don't excite me because of how soft they are, and there are only a handful of IJN ones I enjoy. The Russian line just feels dumb and anachronistic with their ridiculous bow armor and lazer guns.

@@SeaRaptor, if you are getting focused by 4+ ships in the middle of the map...you don't understand how to use islands to protect yourself.
The US standards are built and best played in the middle. Does this mean you need positioning skills? Yes it does. You need to learn that high speed is just a crutch you are using to cover your misplays.
New Mexico has AMAZING rudder shift and turning circle, and excellent gun arcs. Use them. She is a BEAST in close. But if you never learn to play her there, you will always think she is terrible.
Light cruisers do NOT counter DDs. They only have advantage over DDs that are dumb enough to get spotted in their firing arcs. Relying on enemy mistakes is not 'countering the enemy.'
