- A truck bed camper review one year later.
We were able to break away to the desert for some truck camping. My son and I had a great time getting away. Click on the link below to see how I built the camper. Subscribe to not miss upcoming truck camper videos!

Definitely need some reflectix on the windows for heat and privacy. Hold it on with some velcro or even a bungee cord. A buddy heater an hour before you go to sleep will warm the cap right up too.
I do need to do the windows. Maybe some magnets or velcro.?? Hmmmm?
Thanks for the excellent suggestion.
-Will
You really are letting a ton of the heat out without foam panels on the glass. My brother re-did the floors in his home and replaced the carpet with laminate so I took a bunch of the old carpet padding and put it beneath my plastic bed liner. If that's something you can manage I'd recommend that as well.
Great idea!

So a sleeping bag on a cot would do just as good as all that work insulating
There's plenty of options out there. Thanks for watching!

Awesome! I had wondered what happened with the truckcap build. Always nice to get out camping. Mr. Dude with the face looks like he has a pretty comfy truck cap camper set up as well
Hey Jenna, I have started to wonder what had happened to the truck camper too. Sometimes we just let life get in the way to much of what really matters.
-Will
Looks like a great time.
It was nice. But most of all quiet.

Tell me about that bag of coffee???
Is that cool or what. The coffee bag is already in the bag you just pour hot water on it let it steep for a few minutes and enjoy. Link in the description. Thanks for watching.

@@Debtfreehomesteaders Awesome, thanks man. I think I'll pick up a couple of these.
good to know that you haven't put all the efforts in that truck for nothing...love it!
Thanks Roomie. Sometimes I just let life get in the way to much. Hard to get out.
-Will
Dude? I don't understand why you don't have refletix window coverings. All your heat is escaping out the 4 window/doors.
Its coming. I'm thinking of magnetic tape to hold it on or maybe velcro. What are your thoughts? Thanks for your insight?

622.407 MPH
Yes sir! That would be the world land speed record at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Good times!
-Will
Good times! Thank you for bringing me along. I have been on the northern plains for a while and miss the desert Southwest, and the desert 🌵 in general. See any horned toads.
Nope. Just a baby rattle snake George. Creepy... I have to be mindful of the dog that he doesn't Tango with one

Did you have the plastic truck bed liner in there prior to putting the floor in?
Yea. It had a spray in liner.
Thanks for watching!

@@Debtfreehomesteaders Was it for insulation? I just bought a mid rise cap for my truck and pulled off all the rotted liner, pressures washed it. Put primer and sealer on it and some Kilz. Now I'm trying to think of what would insulate it the best. What kind of spray liner was used? And does it insulate?
@@campgoerOne It was just a spray-in plastic liner it didn’t insulate at all. Now I have a piece of foam core that sits about 1 inch off the bed and creates a small air gap to help insulate and keep the convection down from the wind blowing beneath the bed of the pick up.
-Will
7-8 degree difference is practically nothing. I would say your insulation is pretty ineffective. no amount of reflextix means anything if your camper isn't sealed tight
It sealed up quite a bit. You are correct though. It wasn't as effective as I hoped, but it is better. I learned a lot too. Thanks for watching!
-Will
Glad to see you finally got to use the camper conversion. Have you used it since then?
Hello Aaron! Nope. Unfortunately life happens as we all know. Been super busy. But with spring around the corner, it's in the plans. Thanks for watching..

@@Debtfreehomesteaders Don't I know it. We won't get back to camping until the late spring/early summer. Then we have numerous weekend trips to a nearby lake planned. The kids absolutely love it and now there's a faint 3g Verizon signal, so I no longer go into withdrawal at the lake!
