Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out new videos every week! We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

that is definitely a goose egg, my first goose egg was laid at 8 months and yes it was fertile...I took 3 and incubated them. at 10 days I candled the eggs and saw the embryo and the veins...30 days from the incubation days 3 healthy goslings hatched...amazing, that was 17 years ago and still have one from that batch living

My goose was 9 months old in January when she started laying eggs. Her eggs are just like the one you showed. She lays an egg every other day. She picked a corner in the coop so I put some nesting material there and she has made a nest out of it. Love my guard goose.

When my geese began to lay they were just a tad bit smaller than their mature eggs. They would ignore their eggs until they are finished laying for the spring. They would bury them in pine straw until then. When they were done for the season they would sit the clutch. We had 2 African geese and when one got off the nest the other would get on. It was so fun to watch. Then, no more eggs till spring. Good luck with your efforts to incubate the eggs. We put an X on the eggs that we wanted them to hatch and we collected the others to incubate. Our drake never bothered them and the geese had a better hatch rate than we did in the incubator.

We have ducks for the first time, and I'm amazed at how dirty they always are! Today I collected 2 from our 3 females, they lay quite a bit more than I'd imagined. I also found a "Fairy Egg" tiny little thing so the contrast was significant! Not sure if that's from an old lady hen or one of last season's new girls, I'm guessing one of our legacy flock ladies who turn 6 years old this year. No more eggs but their "personalities" and longevity will keep them in our flock until nature takes its course. These older hens were our start to farming & homesteading... they'll always be near & dear to my heart. I'm sure you have a video on that! I love the content you've put out over the years, and wish you all the best as you care for your homestead, family and all of us, too! Thanks!

Since the ducks and geese are getting a good increase in land, you should dig them a small pond.
I'm sure they would enjoy getting to swim.
Really like the looks of your post driver.

I remember duck eggs being very good for baking and goose eggs being too strong flavored to eat. We mostly stuck to eating the chicken eggs. Since no one would eat the goose eggs, gramp got rid of all thirty of them. I think he originally got them to mow the field. Back then all we had was push mowers. That was back 74 years ago. Goats were a better lawn mower and they gave milk that we all liked better.

Another idea you could dig and put in a container and pump the goose pool water into a tote and use it as free fertilizer for your plants or spray it on your grass.

A fruit tree for shade in Waddlesville, fruit for family and dropped fruit for animals.
While animals eat under the tree, its being fertilized.😀

You could put one of the extra shelters in the new grass area for an escape shelter from flying predators.

That’s definitely a Goose Egg!!! I have a Sabastopol goose that laid 16 eggs, already this year. My male is more protective over the nest than the female. We collected them for incubation and have 12 fertilized so far!!

I love it. I would also add a pile of wood chips over the end of the drain pipe. It won't stay wet for long but it will give worms a place to come and keep the ducks/geese from making a wallow there. Of course, the other option is a bag of gravel to accomplish the same thing.

I put gravel in an earlier comment. I didn’t think of wood chips, although I suspect the chickens would scratch them up, grubbing.

We’ve raised African geese and those look exactly what goose eggs look like. So I would say yes those are goose eggs.

Goose egg!! Yes-not until they set on their nest. We started getting goose eggs in January for the 1st time. We were told our 1 momma was "old" -- she's now sitting on 7 eggs. 😮😮😂

If you make some ground boxes in the duck house, they will nest in them. Just like the chickens do.

Now you just need a tree and some chairs for some shade and to sit under and enjoy them. ❤

The silkies are quieter! Maybe the geese lay smaller ones when they first start laying, like young chickens do. Good idea to use that corner. Thanks for sharing. God bless and protect.

I asked my mom since she raised lots of geese when she was younger. She said just like young hens start with littler eggs, so do geese and that that was a goose egg. They will get larger as their systems get up and running.
