The Lady Sharon knows precisely what she's doing. What wonderful Gospel piano playing. It couldn't be any better! --- from a Presbyterian church organist in Kansas
She knows how to play precisely and is very, very good, BUT, she kept running ahead of the choir director and choir. A good accompanist (sp?) knows how to adjust to the leader and vocals for the dramatic or breath pauses between verses. There is more to being a backup musician than precision.
@@GeoffStJohn-kx4fo My old ears weren't hearing what you are saying. I prefer to focus on the words of the song and the amazing contribution Sharon gives to the whole musical ministry.
@@GeoffStJohn-kx4fo Maybe she doesn't see herself as an accompanist. Maybe she is part of the leadership that we are witnessing while she plays. I'm a fan.
Yes, when the church replaces the hymnals with words only on a screen, that to me signals the end of a good music program for that church. Then they will probably throw out the piano and the organ. THAT is the end of the music. What a sad waste of God’s talents in those musicians, voices, and those who designed and built the instruments! Can you tell that I have sung in our church choir and groups for over 60 years.
@@edwinschwartz2472 You are so right!!! My church only has the, “Praise Team”, who try to lead the congregation in awful ditties that only the Praise team can sing! I HATE it!!!
Totally agree. We've lost the plot in church music. I'm a church musician for 45 years and some of the drivel that is dished up in some churches as music is nauseating.
Not our church! We are open and affirming and utilize beautiful music like this. No screens, no drums. Beautiful semiconcert grand and fabulous Italian organ. First Congregational UCC.
Lady Sharon and the organist blend so well together. Absolutely beautiful hymn playing. Keep up the great work. The music puts one in a worship posture.
I love this ladies piano playing. She’s got real talent, an ear for the piano notes. She adds real rhythm to the song she plays, not taught but talent which comes from within.
A beautiful hymn about our precious Jesus! I grew up to this rousing hymn, so faith strengthening.....what a wonderful talent God has given this pianist.....thank you for using it to His glory....
I live 1500 miles away but if I lived in Houston, I would love to hear this wonderful Methodist choir in person. Again this comes from a Presbyterian and a fellow Christian above all.
OH Sharon, what wonderful playing. I am the organist in a UMC in Illinois and we play organ and piano together. People ask if the piano part is in the music and I tell them it is like "filling in the blanks!" In this time of virus and isolation, this has been a true witness for the glory of God in your music. Thank you both for playing and lifting the hearts of the faithful.
How many times will I listen to this wonderful, magical music? It’s been an uplifting ministry during this period of COVID. The musicians are extraordinary as is the choir. Sharon is fabulous! I’m in Anchorage, Alaska.
Absolutely beautiful..as a. Christian. I really appreciate the music...victory in Jesus..I also enjoyed very much the pianist..how very well she has mastered the keyboard..PTL for such beautiful hymns and also enjoyed very much the choir.Thank you you have made my day.
Sharon Goldsberry is absolutely fabulous on the piano. Wish she could play at my church in Waco. It took great skill to accomplish her mastery of the piano. How inspiring just to watch her play. Thank you.
Has Sharon recorded any music on CDs? Her talent is truly amazing, and, if her musical performances are preserved, they can be a tremendous encouragement to others of this and future generations. Our churches need more musicians like Sharon, praising God with her talent.
And why anyone would think keyboards are better alternatives than a "real" piano when a grand piano sounds so beautiful and soooo much better, is a mystery to me!!
God inhabits the praises of his beloved children! Where two or three are gathered in Jesus Name, there the Comforter will be.Providence blessed."O grave where is thy victory, O death, where s thy sting?"Who is playing the pipe organ----not shown by camera?
The arrangement by Stan Pethel is available, however Sharon, by her own admission, largely improvised what you hear, using the sheet music as written merely as a guide.

Only one thing could have made this music better: A page-turner. Not only did she deserve the assistance, but an up-and-coming church pianist could have benefited from watching a master at her craft, close up, and while playing in a church service setting.
The pianist is BRILLIANT!! She adds those extra notes and arpeggios that the hymn deserves!!
I SEE THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF HOURS PRACTICE !!!!

Oh the glories of that wonderful piano player. Complete control. She adorns the gospel of Christ in yet another way.
to bad our churches have seemed to have lost the art of a good music like this, that lifts the soul and spirit

Does 8:45 mean the 8:45 Service? I thought you were marking something on the video time line but doesn't go that long.
Well played. May I know where can I buy the piano accompaniment sheet music?
