    Carlos Erban
You did an excellent job of explaining how to use the Nikon D7000 Sr. Erba, particularly to
users of this excellent camera. As an Engineer and former officer in the Military and of late
a High School teacher for over 12 years following retirement from the Military, and years of
experience in teaching. providing instruction and writing operation manuals,.
It is my view that you qualify as a top-class instructor.
I started photography at age 7, more than half a century ago, and eventually doing my own
developing. enlarging and printing, having invested in a DURST enlarger.
Having owned several 35mm FILM cameras in later years, Nikon - Pentax - Minolta and thousands
of $ in Photography equipment, most sold as Digital Cameras started appearing.
I bought the Nikon D7000 DX when it was first released ...
The Body alone was then priced around $1500 as I recall.
Have not used it much over the past 5 years, and am now inspired to use it more having retired
from teaching and have more time available for my own pleasure before I depart this earth.

Thank you SO much. I really appreciate because I am learning to use this camera for the first time. Reading the manual alone is too confusing. Your tutorial is the only one that goes through the whole menu in an understandable way!
You are an excellent teacher. Having the view of the entire screen is essential.

I am a novice. I have owned my Nikon D7000 for over a year, and basically used the camera as a point & shoot; no idea about ISO, aperture etc... Very interested to learn and this tutorial is great for me, to get started learning how to use the camera.
I didn't know anything about ISO or F Stop, beforte watching this video!!
    Thanks!!

This by far is the most helpful video I have found to make sense of my new camera. A novice like me needs to be able to understand what is being taught and Carlos is magnificent at explaining the functions in detail. I hope he can help with my other photography needs like how to use different lenses.

It took me a few hours to watch.. I loved it very much and replayed several parts of it to make sure I got it. It was difficult to look down at my camera screen and mimic your actions, so I paused it frequently as well. I learned more in this one video than I have in several others combined. Thank you so much. .. now i need to watch the video on flashes.

Hey Carlos I have a quick question which is more of a problem and maybe you could explain to be how to fix it. I just got my second d7000 and I watched your video to set it up like I had my other one but while watching and following instructions I set up my camera exactly like you explain in the video and now it seems to have a problem, the AF focus points are being displayed in the displayed playback menu. It shows red little square to where the focus points are but I do not know how to disable this and it is very inconvenient when I'm trying to review the pictures I've taken. Goes fully you can help me out. Thanks

    • @CarlosErban
      @CarlosErban  9 років тому +1

Ellie G in the playback menu, you can go to display mode you can enable what photo info. you want with the check mark. You probably have a check mark on focus point, which you can remove by click, then and select done

    • @CarlosErban

I have a video on metering, which helps you understand exposure. Simple rule when not using flash, start with Aperture priority, then set the aperture you want, if your shutter speed is less than 1/60 - 1/125 sec (handheld), increase your ISO. For indoors, without flash, I would start with 400 ISO. Once you start going to more than 800 ISO, you will see noise then go to flash (there are many videos on flash). However, I recommend you start out without flash in aperture priority to get a good understanding of exposure

The Nikon D7000 U1 and U2 positions allow users to save and recall camera
ettings immediately as shooting conditions change.
The Nikon D7000 was the world's first Nikon that enabled users easily to save
    and recall complete
groups of settings simply by turning the knob.
The U1 and U2 setting mode saves and recalls everything ... including:
    Autofocus modes, color and
    contrast settings, exposure settings, and,
everything about the camera that would take time to set manually.
The U1 and U2 modes are easy to set. Set the Nikon D7000 to your
    requirements, and then press:
(select U1 or U2) then select

It depends what type of pictures you do. If you have a 70-200 f/2.8, then it may make sense to get the 24-70 f/2.8, and then start adding some fixed lenses such as the 50, 85,105, etc. and a wide angle. I also have a 28-300 all purpose lens, but for DX I used to have the 18-200. All my lenses are FX because I also have a D800

Looking to purchase the D7000 from Best Buy with the 18-140 lens for $799 for my trip to Peru after Christmas. This video is very helpful for me, knowing nothing. Thank you for introducing me to this camera. While looking at DSLRs it seems that this camera is something that I won't outgrow when I get more into photography. I'd love some feedback about how it competes today since it was release a good while ago! Thanks again for a great video!
