The Casio F108 $15 Wristwatch: The Full Nick Shabazz Review

  • Today, we're going to look at an interesting watch, the Casio F108. It's a lot like the F91W in function and display, but it's a bit bigger, a bit more robust, with a much better light, and a great deal less terrorism. The end result is no Patek, but it's a damned fine functional watch, and if you're just after something practical for EDC, it's a gem.

I can say from wearing this watch on my wrist, the interface is memorized very very easily, the screen will indeed scratch (wont affect the viewing), and the time is kept much better than the f91w, the ILLUMINATOR and WATER RESIST around the face rub off relatively quickly over wearing it normally and it just wears off which I won't really complain about. The accidental button hitting that changes time can be irritating, love this watch though

Just your everyday abrasives and accidental bumps and wearing it in water without forcing it, the text wore right off. The alarm is also really a nice volume

I've been using these watches for about 4 years. My first one's strap broke after three years of heavy abuse, but the thing still works. I wore it to sleep, when I swam, when I showered, and everywhere else. It is a damn well built watch, and I couldn't ask more for $15. I'm on my second one, and I broke the speaker after dropping it far too many times (although I honestly think it's an improvement). Truly a wonderful piece of tech that is worthy of your money. 10/10

This watch is absolutely PERFECT for someone who works in a warehouse. Simple, inexpensive, reliable, and does not attract attention. Definitely for someone who only cares of keeping track of time while they work at a quick and easy glance.

Thanks for a great review! I watched hoping to learn about the history of the F-108 and I got drawn in by your review. I wear mine in a heated therapy pool regularly, it gets wet for 30-60 minutes at a time with no problem.

I bought this watch in fourth grade. This was my first watch. Been going strong for over 8 years. I love this thing. Ive got much higher end watches here, and this still finds time on my wrist.
I’ve swam with this watch, a lot actually. No problems. Also the ugly text on the watch has worn off over the years. Highly recommend!

  • @dabestgaming-bd7ul

Bought this watch in 3rd grade for 10$, and it went through hell. Rubbed the face along 30 feet of brick wall for 3 years (I was in 3rd grade) and the hourly chime was on when I bought it, and it has beeped 65,000 times (7-8 years) Took it swimming, got buried in sand for a week, got dropped in a fire, and the only reason I stopped wearing it was because the buckle broke. But to this day, almost 9 years later, it still beeps every hour, every day, and still ticks on and never hasn’t been reliable.

Its is actually a great watch I have the blue version, its light and comfortable to wear and the display is excellent I rarely have to use the light. I prefer it to some of my much more expensive casios, no one will ever regret buying this watch I actually rate it as a classic !

I was an early adopter with smart watches, starting with the Pebble and moving on from there, but I wore a watch almost my whole life. I went back to a Casio at the end of last year. Just having something that tells the time at a glance without any effort or charging or button-presses was something I missed. (I also work in animal care so something I can just constantly sanitize without issue is wonderful).

Yep, and it looks dead nuts perfect in scale on my exactly 7" wrist. Very nice is how the subtly shaped top surface of the resin case falls away along the curve of my wrist in a natural, complementary way. Glad I bought a W800H for use during those "sweaty summer" months: actually rather stylish worn with a simple black T-shirt.
My very first watch review: Ta-Da!

The Casio Royale (AE-1200WHD-1A) is one heck of a watch for a measly 30 bucks. Cool looking watch with lots of useful features for the price of a good meal. It's also 100M water resistant, which is pretty nifty to have in such a cheap watch. Had mine for 7 months now and it's been a real joy to have on my wrist.

Go for either the W-217H or W-218H.
The W-217H looks like a beefed up F-91W but has the same module as the watch reviewed, so bigger LCD, illumination etc. also has 50M water resistance.
The W-218H is similarly styled as the F-108 (poor mans G-Shock) but has 50M water resist. Still has ILLUMINATOR WATER RESIST text though :-(

The stopwatch also a a split feature for you runners out there. Start the stopwatch, hit the light to split, hit the light again to go back to your running stopwatch. There’s no memory, but it’s still a useful feature when you’re doing repeats or pacing out your mileage.

I don’t recommend this watch for people with sensitive skin, it leaves a gruesome dent in the place you wore it and might cause a little rash, but if you regularly take it off to relieve the pressure in the middle of the day, its a genuine good watch for people who do big amounts of work. 100% would recommend.

I personally like the F91W better. Sure, this might be the better watch, but it's lacking the style. The F91W is comically small, has markings in four different colours, no gram of plastic more than you need and I love it. For more or less the same price, you can get the AE1200WH, which has IMO a much more unique style and probably some more (unneeded) functions. But, hey, still a great review! ^^

6:28 i happen to admire the sea-gray lettering - the text gives the F108 some depth, if it wasnt there, the watch would look a bit plain... But on mine, the lettering "ILLUMINATOR" and "WATER RESIST" faded after less than 2 years.. grrr the F108 is such has nice angles and dimensions and is not a tall watch. It has an alarm, hourly timer, and stop-watch, but not a countdown timer. Would be nice if the F108 smaller cousin, the F91W, was scaled up to 108-size... but the Model: DW5600E-1V kind of the bigger (and $44 version of) the F108.

I just bought this watch on Amazon, it says it to arrive on Wednesday, it looks like a very basic watch. And I love the Casio F-91W don't get me wrong. But I wanted to update my watch. I have small wrists but the Casio F-108WH looks great I can't wait to be wearing it. Yes it is cheap but I'd rather beat up a cheap watch than a expensive watch. I always loved Casio's cheaper watches and have beat them up and broken them. Also I have worn some G - shocks but they are kinda big on my wrists. So Im excited for Wednesday when I get my new Casio F-108WH. Edit: it just came in the mail today I'm already wearing it and I love the orange glow for the illuminator. It definitely feels more manly than the F-91w. I have small wrists so. The top three holes are showing. The lock is in the fourth from the top of the strap. Edit 2.0 - I just bought my second one of this exact watch because the first one the band started cracking. Still love this very basic watch.

Great review, but I was wondering if anyone could clarify if the Casio F108 has a lap and or split function with the stop watch mode? I am looking to buy a cheap watch that I will be using for basic training. I just need something that will help me keep track of my lap time, and ideally splits while running for the PT test. I'm hoping to spend less than $25, as I will not wear the watch again after training. I've been researching, and Casio seems to be the way to go, I just can't tell if their cheaper models that have the stopwatch also include laps and splits. Thank you!

Curious, did you get an answer? Or what did you end up purchasing?! Thanks

@@shauna0507 I never got an answer. However, I bought the Casio WS-1000H-1AV, it’s the Lap Memory 60, for $19.99 at Walmart and is the best watch! It has all the functions I asked about. Lap times and split times. That watch was perfect for basic training if that’s your need too.
