OMORI Final Boss + True Ending (with Secret Scene)

- Here's the final boss for a video game I love. Spoiler warning for the final boss and true ending.
I uploaded this video since all the other uploads of this I've seen are either in really long videos (upward of 1 hour) or have a watermark at the top.
If you don't know how to reach the true ending, here's a small guide for you:
1) Make sure you open the door for KEL on the first day playing as SUNNY.
2) On the day titled "ONE DAY LEFT", after SUNNY wakes up at BASIL's house, go to BASIL's room and choose the option to save him.
3) When the final boss defeats you (it's a scripted loss), the game will ask you if you'd like to continue. Select yes, and you've locked in the true ending. Selecting no will instead send you to the bad ending.
If you want the secret scene (which I've seen people call the "secret ending" or "basil ending"), you need to water BASIL's plants in every OMORI section of the game.
This video's been out for nearly three years and just got copyright claimed by some random company (definitely not omocat). Jokes on them, I didn't even monetize this, so they're not getting anything outta me.

Sad fact: the glitching noises in the background are actually a distorted version of Sunny and Mari's argument. You can even hear when Mari fell and Sunny yelling her name.

The fact they make "omori will not succumb" from something you loved to see to something you despised is just another grain of sand in the beach of this game genius.
The one thing that saved you probably multiple times is the very thing that will paralize you the second you see it now, as the realization of the fact that Omori is _built_ to just not die hits

For my gameplay, Omori kept repeating "You loved her and you killed her" and that's when it really did feel like a knife stabbing me in the heart.

Really old but I wanted to add to this, Omori will repeat certain lines depending on how well you're doing in the fight. However in the final phase with the hanging silhouettes, Omori will only repeat "You should just die." as he continually uses the full power erase move.

Omori hit right in the heart!
You can use CHERISH once for each of the fight's six stages. It's very easy to miss a chance to use it, either during one of the earlier stages by advancing before using it or during the later ones by being unable to CALM DOWN and unlock it. If you are able to use it all six times, the last message will be from Mari.
MARI: "You'll forgive yourself... Won't you... Sunny?"
This shows that even though Sunny killed her, she still loves him either way.

taking a moment to appreciate the emotion you can feel behind the music in the final duet. you can hear sunny's pain and regret in the violin, while the piano sounds bittersweet. it's almost like mari is just happy to be playing with sunny again for one final time, but sunny still won't forgive himself no matter how much she tells him to. it's a beautiful portrayal of the situation.
also, you can hear a woman screaming and yelling "stop it" during the alter portion of omori, sunny is literally reliving the moment he regrets the most in this fight

I remember after getting out of that hospital bed and looking at the flowers, I was suddenly hit by a realization. Omori was wrong. I *had* cared about other people, and I *had* gone out of my way to help them. Everyone around the town sent Sunny those flowers because they appreciated him for the things he had done for them. By that point in the game, I thought I had cried all of the tears out, but when I realized this, the relief I felt was so powerful I cried all over again.
Exactly. And the best part is, he didn't lie to any of those people, and they still liked him. Of course, he also didn't go to them and said "hey, did you know I killed my sister and made it look like an accident", but still, he now had proof that people could like him for who he truly is.
Omori said *_"You lied to your friends to protect yourself. The people they love isn't you at all."_* Maybe that _could_ be true (and I doubt it is). But those people who sent him flowers? The person they like is no doubt the real Sunny, and there's no way for Omori to dance around that.

You can see Aubrey’s silhouette at the far right in the background at 6:59. Kel’s also at the far left.This is evident sign that Sunny-and at this context, Omori-blames himself because of what he did, the others will inevitably succumb to grief and fatally end their lives.

I think it's because he doesn't really want to fight in a way. Almost as if he was ready to drop the knife at any point
Can you imagine Sunny’s friends’ reactions when they hear the truth? It would be so hard to accept after all this time.
Kel would likely sit and think on it, but would hear Sunny out and forgive him.
Aubrey has two possibilities. She would get angry, but come back and apologize, or she’d be shocked, think on it, then tell Sunny it’s not his fault.
Hero would likely lash out on Sunny, but later on apologize and say that he won’t make the mistake of breaking up again. It’s also possible that Sunny loses connections to Hero, and maybe Aubrey, but I doubt Kel would leave Sunny alone.
They would be a little upset but realize it's just an accident and that he didn't know what to do. I honestly hope that OmOcat reveals that they forgave Sunny at the end
@@ashlight6107 the reason it ended the way it did is because it kind of leaves it open to what the player will think would happen, it leaves it on many different possibilities and I guess it’s up to you if they forgave him or not
Hero would most likely be pissed but he doesn't seem like the guy that would lash out to that extent, he's too well adjusted compared to Aubrey and Kell.
I feel that while he would probably be avoidant to Sunny for a moment he would end up realizing that it's not like doing anything would change what happened in the end.
Besides Sunny already punished himself with how much pain he caused himself.
@@snottiee8552 I feel the smile Sunny gave Basil in the epilogue hints at him/them being forgiven. Tho it could also just be him smiling cause he doesn’t have to hide it anymore (evidence being the spirit and such disappearing). I think it’s the former tho cause I can’t imagine him being happy after being rejected by who used to be his friends lol
I can see Hero getting mad and maybe Aubrey too, I say maybe because you gotta remember that the murder was *accidental.*
I can definitely see Hero getting upset though. But I can't see *any* of them breaking their bonds with Sunny, that wouldn't happen, not after all they've been through and especially because the murder was accidental.
I binged this whole game in two days and I'm so glad that I got the true ending along with the secret scene. I didnt even know how to do it right, i just watered basil's plants because I wanted to keep the hope alive that basil would return and I'd save him.

I forgot to water the plants after day 1. When the headspace versions of Kel, Aubrey and Hero began to forget what we were looking for, it hit right in the heart. I was also slowly forgetting as the truth loomed over my head.
When Aubrey pushed basil in the lake, Kel accused her, she defend herself saying she didn't do it on purpose,( she end up being forgiven by the group)
I think it's a parallel with Sunny pushing Mari in the stairs and blamming himself for her death,
So in the end, he'll probably be forgiven by everyone.

Got this ending in first play through and I’m afraid to look up the other ones , fighting Omori broke me somehow
I beat it yesterday too and yes, fighting both Basil and even worse, omori really broke my heart as the fight kept going on. I actually did do the other endings and it's so sad the way the credits just play on without the song that the true end has. Also the title screen changes for each ending too, and I was super sad to know that the title screen goes back to omori if you don't choose to continue. Definitely gonna do the true end after I finish all the other ones

When I read "OMORI will not succumb" , I got chills.
Omori is sunnys self hate. When he says “they will hate you as much as you hate yourself” he is basically telling them they will become like him, they will become omori. The amount of torment omori puts sunny through is heart breaking. Even more when he fears that his own friends will torment him more. I believe they forgive him. It might take time but they have plenty of time especially since sunny is moving. I imagine they would have to process for a while but understand sunny isn’t staying long so they don’t lash out.
I cried at this part...like everything that omori said to sunny, it was like he's talking to me...

This fight broke me. Omori is the only video game to ever make me cry, the way Omori constantly puts sunny down in statements phrased like facts and the awful terrible shit he says in the authoritative way he says it really got to me. I don't know why, maybe my own trauma, and my own life experiences.
It's almost like I could relate and hearing it all parroted back to me via the game was haunting, plus the music gradually getting more intense with string instruments. I felt a knot in my throat for the whole fight, and the more awful shit he said the more I realized what Omori was, or rather stands for in that moment.
When Omori didn't get what he wanted, when Sunny tried to fix his life, much like unhealthy coping mechanisms, Omori berated him for what he was doing. Omori degraded and insulted him, repeatedly. Omori, if I can speak like he is his own person; which he is not, would rather Sunny kill himself than improve and move on without him. He'd rather shift all the blame back on Sunny of the very trauma he's been trying to protect him from, regardless of the outcome, merely because he's not getting his way.
Omori as a character is a lot of things and he changes rapidly throughout the game, but one thing I noticed during this fight is Omori is the embodiment of depression, and he uses suicidal thoughts to keep Sunny in his grasp.
Sunny was really fighting for his life here if you think about it

Gotta say...a LOT of these words hit hard since I could relate to have some of those thoughts of my own back before and every now and then. I'm so glad I got the Secret Ending. It's nice to know that there's a little hope of healing for the better in that scene.
OMORI's words are as sharp as his knife.
Especially these lines:
"You've caused so much suffering... yet you do nothing. And so you've earned nothing in return."
"You tell yourself that you don't want to burden others...But the truth is that you're selfish. You just don't want people to depend on you."

He is literally fighting against the representation of how he has lived the past 4 years, I love the metaphores of this game and how losing this fight ends with the only possible ending the way of life Sunny had could end.

Omori is frighteningly stoic. Emotionless to a degree, the only emotion he shows is in battle but I don't think I've seen a single part of the game, not even in other endings, whee he actually expresses like any emotion.
Omori is inhuman.

The distorted and glitching noises in the background after the red hands background appear and some more backgrounds after that, they are an argument between Sunny and Mari.
You may not hear it but they actually said this:
You can hear SUNNY yell "Gosh You (DISTORTED)"
- You can hear the violin crash and break. (Sunny threw the violin down the staircase)
- You can hear MARI scream "No!" The argument continues.
- Mari yells "Where do you think you're going?!"
- Mari screams as she is pushed down the staircase, landing on the violin. Mari is now dead.
- Sunny says "I'm so sorry!"
- Sunny begins to cry, not stopping.
Basil arriving is not there, only the argument because it was only between them, since sunny did the most of the things.

I've always thought about how Aubrey would have killed basil when she pushed him into the lake, had it not been for hero. she would definitely have been reminded of that when finding out the truth, and been able to realize how her actions could have led to her being exactly like sunny had The Gang not intervened
The way OMORI speaks to SUNNY is too familiar. It made the fight even fucking more painful. It wasn't just SUNNY's memories haunting him, it was mine haunting me, too. The fear. The doubt. The anxiety. The feeling of "nobody can ever know, cause if they do, you'll never see them again." It's horrifying. I feel so fucking bad for SUNNY. He was just a kid, freshly traumatized and completely terrified. Obviously I feel more bad for MARI and what he did to her was still awful, but it's not like it was what he wanted. It's just what happened, and he spent the past 4 years alone and feeling the repercussions of one gigantic mistake. He deserves happiness. He deserves to move on. We all deserve to move on. It's hard to take it with much value because it's a game, and SUNNY won't face actual consequences or anything like that for accepting his wrong, because he doesn't really exist. But to anyone else with a deep-seeded regret, it does still show that there's light at the end of the tunnel. You can be and deserve to be happy. You just have to grow.
It felt so good this last fight, even knowing you cannot win. The whole plot around Mari's death was traumatizing and carrying the weight of guild for 4 years... is unbearable for even adults.

Just beat the game like 4 hours ago. Amazing 10/10 one of my fav games ever. The last 3 hours of the game got me crying like crazy especially this fight with the beautifully tragic music.

I just realized something; in the 6th phase of the fight and in the background, you see apparitions that have been hung. Initially, I thought these were just apparitions of Mari being hung, but looking closer, I noticed that the one on the far right has a bow in its hair and the one on the far left has a very similar haircut to KEL. Are these apparitions of Sunny's friends?

This is the perfect *Man Vs. Self* kind of conflict here, a fight that determines which decision the main character makes.

As someone who has felt the same thoughts that Omori is telling Sunny, this part completely destroyed me.

This probably sounds dumb but Sunny vs Omori is just so relatable to me because sometimes it really does feel like I'm fighting another version of myself that just wants to bottle up my emotions and die with them instead of actually confronting them. I'd rather simply give into my worst thoughts instead of making peace with them and that no matter what I can't fight them, but games like Omori give me hope and that if I try hard enough that eventually I'll be able to defeat my inner demons.
playing the end of the game feels like when youve been crying yourself to sleep all night but you wake up the next morning with the sun on your face and you feely peaceful and healed
As somebody who struggles every day with a voice in my head saying such horrible things about me, this fight hits so close to home.
Relatable
I know that voice quite well myself. I would not say I have defeated him. For me, it’s a male voice, it’s my own voice. But this representation of it gives me a lot of hope and a lot of strength. In a way, even if they were justified to feel any sort of negative emotion to sunny, such as rage, rancor or hatred for what happened, in his own way, he went through hell and back just to remember what happened. He took all the pain and guilt on himself, when he remembered. His penance has already started and will likely never end.
It's sad how after Sunny comes clean with everyone, the group would probably split apart because they're still recovering from Mari's death. At least Basil and Sunny would be ready to move on from their trauma though.

Out of context but we can see that Sunny barely even grew at all even at 16, being just slightly taller than Omori as shown in the scene where they hug each other. The four most important years of his life was replaced with constant isolation and traumas.

as someone who has trauma and d3pr3ss10n (among other issues) and did respind like sunny at points this is a really touching boss fight that legit made me tear up and a perfect representation of struggling with trauma and m3nt@l health issues and overcoming them.
The true and best type of enemy is ones self or a you that is everything bad about you or the things you dont want to be you
5:10 corruption starts
The turn this game takes is insane. It becomes evident that this whole time, you were actually playing as the villain in a sense. Omori is the part of Sunny that thinks he's beyond forgiving, that he'd be better off dead, avoiding confronting the real world, and just living forever in the delusional make-believe world in his mind where nothing bad ever happens. This shows why the knife is a reoccurring symbol with Omori, and to confront it, Sunny fights with the violin, a symbol of the past and hope for his future.
The fight scene with Omori hits really hits home, it's what my thoughts sound like most of the time

God, this is like my favorite ending to anything ever. I love how masterfully this game refuses to tell the player Sunny has depression- it SHOWS you. As someone who has struggled with severe depression, C-PTSD, and dissociation, this game has always made me feel deeply understood.

This is sunny remembering and starting to accept what happened but omori still trying to corrupt it, trying his hardest to make him forget again. For my gameplay, Omori kept repeating "You loved her and you killed her" and that's when it really did feel like a knife stabbing me in the heart.

Small thing, but i like how the first words in this ending song are: "One more day, the sun reaches my bed." Because you get this ending if at ONE DAY LEFT, SUNNY reaches Basil in his BEDROOM and after that in the HOSPITAL BED. :)

Omori saying “Your friends loved her, and you killed her.” Then cutting deeper by saying, “Mari loved you, and you killed her.” Then he saves the worst for last, *”You loved her, and you killed her.”* It’s Sunny telling himself that he not only betrayed all of his friends, and not only did he betray Mari, but he betrayed himself by what he did. He killed a part of himself when he pushed Mari. *”YOU loved her, and YOU killed her.”* He’s saying that he’s a monster, and that everyone he loves he ultimately ruins, and that he permanently destroyed himself in the process. And then Omori says, “It would be better to just die.” And, “It would be easier to just die.” It’s so heartbreaking. Anyone who lost someone, or did a irreparable mistake to someone, the only thing worse than knowing that you betrayed them, was that you betrayed your morals, your beliefs, your life all by your own choice. When I was younger, I used to have a best friend, and one day we got into an argument, and I’ve tried my best to try and make things right with them. And sometimes when I think about these conflicting thoughts, I think, “He loved you, and you ruined everything.” And then I try to go deeper into my psyche, and I hear the worst thing ever. “YOU loved him, he was the best thing to ever happen to you, and YOU ruined everything.” You betrayed yourself, YOU betrayed yourself. You must live with the fact that YOU destroyed EVERYTHING.
One thing that I found interesting is that it keeps repeating "OMORI did not succumb" and then says "OMORI *_will_* not succumb."

Why does Sunny have extra health and juice?
You can get an item called "Seashell Necklace" in the game which is the only item that increases SUNNY's Stats in the real world.
In order to obtain it you have to talk to a NPC girl and she will give you a quest to gather seashells for her.
Grab 3 seashells and give em to Kel's neighbor and you get the only item that gives hp and juice in Faraway, the Seashell Necklace.

Hey, that's odd. When I repeat this video, my pillow become a little...salty.
I think the most influential (and accurate) aspect of this battle, is that when Omori berates Sunny, he repeats certain phrases: "people like you don't deserve to live," "it would be better to just die," and finally, over and over, "you should just die." This is how it feels when you're suicidal, like those words repeating and repeating, not necessarily audibly except in the case of hallucinations, when its arguably the least endurable. It's internally sourced manipulation.
