Yup TBC has always held my most fondest memories of the game. I can remember so many things in each different zone and spent so much time in them, except for blades edge. WotLK had great zones too but me and my friends got burnt out by then. TBC was unique in that it felt the closest to vanilla in many different ways, were WotLK began a shift.

Such a cool video! As you've mentioned yourself, I just simply wasn't fully aware of everything happening back when I played TBC. I did some of these dungeons and raids, but the sheer complexity and interconnectedness of all the endgame content is something nearly every game lacks nowadays. Crazy! Thanks for making this stellar video.

watching this as I level my alliance shaman on classic! Almost 60 and ready to go for Classic TBC launch this upcoming Tuesday! For me, it all started in BC in June of 2007. I had eventually mained an alliance shaman soon after getting my hunter to 70 and realizing we needed shaman, and to this day my shaman has been my main character. I am super excited to have it all come full circle, and this video only amplified these feelings. What a great overview, and I learned some things as well like the hiccups of TK which prevented anyone from doing MH. About to go watch the second part now. Get hyped everyone!

I'm actually a big fan of the attunement style of doing things. It's a good way of gating content and gives players an incentive to do the content. One example is Wildstar, which is sadly dead in the MMO graveyard. But that had a lengthy attunement process to enter it's glorious raid, and I loved it, except I couldn't find a guild to raid with at the time, not any that fit my schedule

    • @dangingerich2559

@@Vihara2 They aren't going to be invincible now because of the changes that Blizzard put in. They're more like today's pallies than the pallies back in TBC. Back then, we had to stack defense, block, and spell power to get there, and then fight with an aura that healed us for every hit. Those aren't even options in "Classic" TBC.

I always had a fondness for Hellfire Peninsula. It's a content-dense zone with some difficult areas, sure, but it also provided a solid leveling experience and certainly gave you a crash course on what to expect elsewhere. A few solid group quests, mob-sense areas that encouraged team ups, and a central pvp hub all made it clear what the expansion expected of you and encouraged communication, even if it was interrupted by typical WoW trolling. The Fel Reavers not only encouraged awareness of your environment, but at 70 when you were tasked with killing one of them, it felt really satisfying.

Rather then that never played. got my own laptop to play on when the WOD came out so got to experience that but awhile down the road broke my screen and keyboard so couldnt play anymore. Finally got my own pc when BFA was in the middle of its release. When playing again i had my max lvl from WOD and it started my in the legion expansion and felt like i got a good experience in that one minus end game content for it cause after hitting certain level put me into the quest line of bfa which thats when i fell in love with wow. From lore to everything. Moral of the story i still find myself wanting to experience old content for the lore. Watching videos and reading about it isnt the same as playing through it. The way you can play old game content is just idk how to explain but i did one char to lvl 1-50 in TWOLTK expansion but I almost fully leveld in two zones before i started doing any story quest or content that anything to do with the linch king. By the hit 50 got taken out of the expansion and thrown into shadowlands and that was that. I experienced nothing. Was pretty bummed. Wish they would make playing the older content better then what it is.

There were so many dungeons in TBC that it wasn't uncommon to get to 70 without having done them all.
But it's really worth doing all of them.

You forgot to mention the Reckbomb, that got hotfixed off of that boss. Where a prot pally broke multiple gray weapons to store up a massive reckoning proc, his guildies rode in pulled away the elites, and he ran in and one shot the boss.... least i believe it was that boss.

Imagine your whole raid does the tedious attunements leading to Hyjal, you get stuck on the very last boss needed and then blizz removes the attunements you suffered through right when they fix the boss. feels bad man

Another nugget of history to add: When TBC was announced, we knew the Horde was adding the Blood Elves, but it was unknown who was joining the Alliance. As an April Fool's joke, Blizzard announced it would be Wisps. It wasn't obvious who would be added, I heard speculations of Furbolg. When they finally revealed the Draenei, it felt like it came out of left field, and that Blizzard had run out of ideas so just gave us Protoss from StarCraft.
