      Bro the Marine had to lift more weight...see how much his bar bents. Also if u watch the vid carefully u'll find that the vid doesn't show the full frame of the convict's lift ( we can't see how many plates he's lifting in the last clip) and on the other hand the Marine's lift is completely shown.

      @@j.hernandez3825tall guy here. That’s not how it works. When you around 6’2 and higher, chances are your wingspan will be higher, but the weight still has to travel far. If you are 5’5-5’10 with a 6’-6’3 wingspan, you will be a god at deadlift

      @Jafmanz just rewatched. They were both wearing grips. Marine also dropped before he let his grip go. Sustained, marine was smart enough to stop lifting. It was a conscious decision. Ex con did it, but it still looked painful. He was definitely at his limit. I lift myself, and I lift with a lot of people who know what they are doing. It's pretty obvious when someone is topping out.

      No, jack@ss, he only used straps on the LAST lift of 635 lbs. He had to expend a lot more energy, deadlifting 405 and 495 lbs, than the other guy. Without straps, it's not just your forearms that are engaged. Simp.

      @@nicenoob4233 fastest I ever done was 19:17m while still deadlifting 405lbs. I was still doing 100 single count burpees at under 7 minutes and cranking out 23 proper pull ups. Fittest I ever been in my life and as soon as I stopped working out after the military, my fitness digressed within a 3 month period. Its definitely an effort to maintain that balance on the daily.

      @@Tburche23 yes thats the maximum allowed time. Very low score if you run that slow. Any slower and you get two more chances to beat the time, and if you don’t meet the standard, you are getting kicked out the Marines. To be competitive for promotion, cool schools, and quarterly counselings, you want to run the 3 miles under 21 minutes to be relevant.

I started running last year and it took me about 2 months from running my first mile to running a 21:30 5k, but mostly I was distance running and not focusing on the 3 mile. Side note: I ran a marathon (4:05) about 5 months after I ran my first mile and then kind of got bored with it and started weight training.

      @@HARDMODEKINGS It is worse when using a mixed grip with straps since it causes uneven tension on the back muscles. You should use an overhand grip with straps if you ever try them, it basically takes grip strength out of the equation

    Honestly these guys are REALLY STRONG for Marines. Most Marines can’t lift heavy. Because all the workouts are based on Calisthenics. Marine training doesn’t really include much strength training.

    Wow, hats off to those two gentlemen. That is insanely difficult to do and they are both beasts. However on this day it went in the direction of the ex con and honestly on any given day, it seems like it could’ve gone either way, it was that close. Once again, congratulations to the ex con who had just a little more dawg in him on this day. It’s amazing how strong you can get whether to diet of spreads or crayons lol
