  • After the fall of the Mariana Islands, the Japanese military is beginning to rush development on a number of experimental weapons, as they may be needed to defend Japan and the Emperor from an Allied invasion. The Blue Sakura fleet is assisting the Japanese Army with a weapons test of a Ki-148 I-Go Model 1B "guided cruise missile". The flight of this "missile" has the capability to be controlled from a pilot aboard it's launch aircraft and flown directly into a target with precision. It is a huge step up from unguided rockets and will prove to be an effective anti-shipping weapon to fight back an American invasion fleet.
For this test, the Army is providing a specially modified Kawasaki Ki-48-II otsu frontline bomber that will act as the launch platform for the missiles. The bomber will test the first missile over the ocean for it's flight characteristics, then engage the standard range targets with the remaining missiles (which will all be guided by the aircraft's bombardier). Three missiles have been provided for this test, and the Ki-48 can only carry one at a time...meaning they will have to land to reload each missile. The future of Japan may depend on the success of this test, it is vital it succeeds!
