Father roadrunner feeds baby roadrunner a mouse

  • I was about to move the wood rack away from the garage, finish painting the garage, take down a dead tree and reorganize the wood, but then I noticed two roadrunners building their brood nest atop the wood rack, behind a tumbleweed I had placed there for kindling. So that project is on hold. The roadrunners began egg sitting the first of March. On March 22nd the male came down with a (hatched) eggshell. He smashed the shell and ingested small bits of it. Here he is this cold morning, bringing a baby runner a mouse. He removes a roadrunner dropping at the end of the clip to clean the nest. In one week the babies will be able to leave the nest and hunt for themselves, but the parents will then continue to feed them for another 30 to 40 days.

    I certainly hope that roadrunners are a protected species because they are awesome they're really good at taking care of the most overpopulation of rodents

    I thought they ate seeds.

      Theyre definitely carnivores. They eat snakes a lot
