well I mean in 86 they had the future lebron the continuation of their dynasty at their peak aka their james worthy added in the draft in 2nd pick len bias who died ending the run for the 80's celtics as their core aged and reggie lewis die on the court basically in summer 93 in his prime and birds back mchales foot injuries affect them in their twilight and then they picked acie earl over nic van exel and sam cassell then they picked eric montross in 94 over eddie jones and jalen rose they picked eric williams in 95 over michael finley and theo ratliff 2 future all stars and they drafted antoine walker in 96 over kobe bryant or steve nash 2 future mvps a star in ben wallace and were 2 picks away from mvp tim duncan in 97 gave up on chauncey billups their 3rd pick future hall of famer in 98 and were one pick from future mvp dirk and while pierce was great for them then they didnt have a pick in 99 they picked jerome moiso a scrub in 2000 over michael redd hedo turkoglu desmond mason or jamal magloire all of whom would of been better picks and then 2001 with giving up on joe johnson after 1 year and picking 2 busts in kedrick brown and joseph forte over future stars like tony parker gilbert arenas zach randolph richard jefferson gerald wallace mehmet okur ...trust me boston has had its bad luck recently too since len died...

as a nba fan for a legit 15 years now I gotta say it...not seeing any player from the 90's is gonna hurt especially now with kids born in the year 2000 and from 2020 onwards even later being eligible to be on nba teams ...the 90s era players all gone now that dirk and vince carter are done...and those 2 only played in 1999 during the short lockout year in the nba.....heck jamal crawfordis the only guy left that played in the 2000-2001 season left in the nba drafted or not drafted and he may be out of the nba too by next season like that 51 point game vs dirk may be his last game too...smdh...crazy...brons legit one of the 2-3 oldest guys in the nba now that wade and dirk and melo zach chandler korver za za gasol haslem harris felton calderon and jamal may all be gone ..like tony parker and maybe andre igoudala aka a guy from 2004/2005 draft are the only guys older that I can see coming back next season on a roster that are older...everyone else older than bron is gonna be gone from the nba...its crazy...

I remember Tractor Trailor playing in Puerto Rico, he actually died during the season in our national basketball league. His dead wasn’t that much surprise because of the weight problem. Even though he never had an amazing career in NBA he did great at BSN (our basketball league) it was fun to watch him play against other big men in the league.

Damn, I had it in my head that Carter was on the Mavs championship team, but he didn’t join them until the following season. It’s a shame he doesn’t have a championship. I guess technically he’ll have one more chance, but it seems unlikely.

I'm from Stockton where Olowakandi played at Pacific and went to many games while he was there. It was great watching him play and I thought he easily had first round NBA talent. However I was shocked when he went #1 overall. I dont know what the Clips were thinking and I loved the guy. If hed gone around 10 (or later) where I expected him to go, no one would be talking about him today.

Back in 99 and the early 2000s when Jason Williams still played for the Kings alongside Chris Webber, I perceived Williams to be a star. Yes, he never received star accolades (IIRC he only won a meaningless rookie all star game MVP) but anybody I knew who followed the NBA at the time was amazed by his passing and ball handling skills.
I remember when Antawn Jamison and Kobe both went at each other for like 52pts each. I believe that was the height of Jamison’s career.

Being from Dallas, there was a lot of anger around here when Dirk was drafted because everyone thought Don Nelson was doing his mad scientist bit again by drafting some soft Euro. 21 years later we can't imagine the Mavericks without him, and the drafting of Luka was met with celebration around these parts.

I’m a casual basketball fan and I’m surprised that Mike Bibby was never an all star. He was definitely a well known name and a good player.

This reminded me about the saddest part of the Raptors early days. The FO was GOOD at drafting (Araujo aside), but TERRIBLE at everything else.

What I remember is that Nelson liked Jamison. Being a UNC fan, that was what I wanted, too. When he and Carter were drafted back-to-back, ahead of Dallas, I was pretty upset. Then, they took Tractor Traylor and I was not impressed. Little did I know that this was all a part of a plan to keep Traylor away from Sacramento and Dirk away from Boston. Boston ended up getting Paul Pierce, so they lucked out.
Gonna miss seeing this big bastard in a Dallas Jersey or any other Jersey for that matter.
This video would have been more fun if it was "the nine players drafted before paul pierce" cause then we would have had that nice little twist that the dude picked right before pierce was actually the better player.
