We are so excited to share our new cover of “IRIS” which is OUT NOW!! We were both huge Goo Goo Dolls fans growing up, and we both unknowingly had this on our list of songs to cover for years! It was such a fun collaboration between the two of us, and a dream come true!
This is so awesome! I too was a huge Goo Goo Dolls fan in high school! I bought their song books so I could find the alternate tunings and play their songs on guitar! I played this on piano too...mostly black keys haha. Man, this is so cool. Love this. Great job! Also, what did you use for the pad/ambience in this? I always thought this song was about a romantic relationship, but let me tell you it hits different when you’re looking at your newborn son in the NICU and you can’t hold him and you’re terrified he won’t know who you are once you get to hold him🥺we played this cover so many times during those hospital days. Fast forward to today my son just turned 1 and is thriving and in complete health. Praise God and all the amazing doctors.

Bro listening to this song made me like build a whole movie scene in my mind. In a setting right after a trauma, or some sort of really deep, emotional moment. In my mind it was about 2 friends that were split for some reason, during the song there would be memories and crap that would slowly play through and fade in/out, as it sped up so would the scenes. It would cut between the memories and present day, switching between both friends and memories of each, then when the beat dropped that’s when they both just broke down, memories would start lasting longer and so would the cuts to present day of things being broke, or crying/yelling. This is just what formed in my mind for some reason listening to this song. Also during the beat drop part it’s like in my mind the “camera” would pan around the person. Also I’m not a scriptwriter or director or writer in any kind. This is just what formed.

This song hits really hard, cuz I almost died of Alcohol poisoning last Friday and I just started to quit drinking because of that. And it had brought tears to my eyes, heart, and soul. 😭😭
I had a girlfriend that i loved more than anything. More than life. And each time I was listening to this song, It reminded me of her. "You're the closest to heaven that I ever been." It made me feel lucky to have her. And one time, for our first trip together in Singapore, when we were chatting and discuting about anything and everthing, a man with his guitar was singing this song. I couldn't believe It. This moment was so strong for me. She was there with me, and this beautifull song. She brake up with me this week. We were still creazy about each other. But she wasn't happy, and things where becoming harder. I think, breaking up with someone you still love, is one of the hardest thing to live. I miss her so much.
