Thanks! There are a lot of folks that know a lot more about these units than I do. I just happen to want to take things apart to figure out how they work.
Thank you for filming this and posting. I have a leak on the diff lever side of the trans. Still trying to find exactly where it's coming from but it's looking like I may have to pull the whole unit.
Todd, clean, power wash unit best u can. Than take baby powder(talcum powder ) in a bulb u use to fill batteries with water an puff the powder on suspect area. Worked for me on my jdeere with k92. Found plate that supports diff lock seeping. No need to r/r trans. Remove seat , rear deck ,gas tank. Loosen trans from frame ,raise frame , lower trans wheels removed, you'll need 2 floor jacks. Factory uses silicon sealer on plate instead of a gasket. I used anaerobic sealer it cured in absent of air. Learned that from auto trade. Problem solved. Good luck with ur's
Nice Video!!! I have the same transmission and I’m experiencing jerking moving forward. When pressing the pedal once it ok but when you let off and go back to it it jerks kind of hard. Any thoughts?
Interesting to see some of the innards of these trans-axles. Looking forward to Part 2. I hope that I will not have to see the inner workings of mine though.
Yes, it was fun taking this unit apart. This is only the second K91 I have torn apart and every time I do stuff like this I realize how well built these types of units are. In total this turned into a 6 parts series. So at least another 9 days before I run out of videos again!!
Nice series on the tear down of the K91. I have a 445 with the same hydro that developed "another" leak over the winter. This time it appears to be the O-Ring behind the brake actuator that is the culprit. Do you happen to know if the cover and the actuator can be removed to replace the O-Ring without totally pulling the transaxel out ? Thanks
@@mmrbeef Thanks, Service Manual says to pull the rear end to do it, does not look promising for a work around. I will let you know when I decide to tackle.
The axle housings have a RVT type sealer when installing them on the case. The axle just needs to line up with the differential and you should be able to slide the housing in and bolt it down.
@mmrbeef to remove the axle , just need a hammer or sliding hammer? There's a snap ring on the end of the axle like on front axles of some chevy trucks? Thanks in advance
Interesting, but way over my head. It appears that my 445 is leaking at the Rear PTO Kit quick connect. I am having difficulty finding info on what is involved to fix it. I may feel a little play in the quick connect as well. Is this relatively easy to fix? Thanks
If it is leaking around the 540 PTO seal, you should just be able to replace that seal. I should have a video on that replacement somewhere. I did it on one of my 455 projects. That seal is on the expensive side but its a 25 minute (or less) job to take the old one out and install the new one.
Does anyone know what other transmissions will fit in a 265? My father passed away and his beloved John Deere 265 has no power to go forward or reverse on the slightest hills. I’m not too sure about rebuilding the tranny and being able to get parts vs replacing the tranny but I can’t find any exact BDU-21L-206 tranny and naturally JD hides all the details. Any solid info to help my mom get his mower back in action would be appreciated!
Really loving the many series you have produced. So knowledgable!!!!

Honestly I’m not entirely sure. I’d attempt to figure it out but I’m still at least two weeks from unpacking the shed with the 455 in it for the year.

Any special instructions for putting the right axle housing back in. Is it a gasket or oring that's leaking

@@mmrbeef I will have a look. I couldn’t see anything that looked like a seal on the parts page. I also hope a bearing isn’t involved. Thanks again.

How do I know if I have a K91 or K92? My tractor is a 99 455 AWS. Is there a label somewhere indicating which one I have?
A 455 should have a K91.
I'm pretty sure a k92 is 4wd
About to rebuild one that’s leaking. The internals are built like a tank. The seals are shot.
Have you ever done thia in reverse,
Rebuild the k91? Starting with a Empty case?
I have not. Never had a reason to rebuild one.
